The Drake-Kendrick Lamar showdown will continue — at the 2024 BET Awards.
The rappers will compete in two categories at the June 30 show: best male hip-hop artist and best collaboration. In the latter category, Drake is nominated for “Rich Baby Daddy” with Sza and Sexyy Red, while Lamar is nominated for his guest verse on the remix of Beyoncé’s “America Has a Problem.”
Drake is the show’s top contender with seven nominations, thanks to his album For All the Dogs (Scary Hours Edition). Lamar didn’t release an album that was eligible this year. The Canadian rapper’s other nominations include album of the year, best male R&b/pop artist and viewer’s choice for “Rich Baby Daddy.” He’s nominated twice in the video of the year category: “Rich Baby Daddy” and his guest verse on J. Cole’s “First Person Shooter,” the late 2023 track that reignited his feud with Lamar.

Let’s just say that mama Beyoncé is allowing her daughter to take on more jobs and showcase her talents. What, if that astounding tour showed us anything, it’s that Blue Ivy is ready to shine in her own right.
The story may be Mufasa’s childhood, but Simba gets to make an appearance as well.

Blue Ivy has been making her mark on both the music and fashion world, and now she’s got her sight set on breaking into the movie industry.
This won’t be Blue Ivy’s first narration work though, as the youngster’s talent was tapped to narrate the audiobook version of New York Times bestseller “Hair Love” by Matthew A. Cherry.

[Editor’s note: Spoilers for the Season 1 finale of “Diarra from Detroit” below.]
By the time the Season 1 finale of “Diarra from Detroit” draws to a satisfying conclusion, Diarra (and we) have been through a lot. And the episode brings the tangled mystery to such an adroit close (while leaving enough unanswered questions to fuel a second season) that surely its structure was always part of the show’s DNA.
Nah, that’s not how TV works. Luckily, co-showrunner and star Diarra Kilpatrick knows how to pivot.
“We didn’t have the budget to shoot Episode 8 as it was originally written and conceived,” Kilpatrick told IndieWire. “Sometimes creativity comes from limitations.”
Diarra’s reconciliation with Swa (Morris Chestnut) proves to be short-lived when she finally solves the mystery of why he abruptly asked for an open marriage (to misdirect her away from learning about the vasectomy he’d had years ago!). Burying her feelings once again with the case,...

A new report from CNBC indicates many of the parties who approached Paramount about buying BET have contacted Scripps about the sale.
Broadcasting companies are feeling the squeeze these days. Programming costs and affiliate fees are continuing to rise, and broadcasters have to keep their retransmission fee demands within a certain range or risk being dropped by distributors in carriage disputes. E.W. Scripps is one such broadcaster that finds itself facing myriad financial pressures, which could explain a new report from CNBC that suggests that the company is looking to sell its Black-focused culture and entertainment network Bounce TV.
Key Facts: CNBC reports Scripps has hired a bank to evaluate the potential sale of Bounce TV. Many parties interested in acquiring BET from Paramount last year have contacted Scripps. Scripps’ stock has fallen more than 50% this year amidst concerns driven by cord-cutting.
