What an episode. Epic transformation scene, well balanced pacing with lot of action,,, clean frames in animation...
luffypirate-981937 April 2024
As a manga reader, i always wondered how they gonna do it, and they exceeded my expectations.. Luffy being bada$$ also goofy and most importantly, majestic. And i love how toei gassed up lucci. As they should.. Lucci definitely one of the most underrated character.. The lore, information were spot on from vegapunk .. Ending was breathtaking too.then there was the first hand to hand combat animation. I believe, it looks way cooler when luffy fights someone who is more human sized and fights with hand to hand Martial art combat style. The animation director, the episode director (nozomu shishido) and of course goated key animator GOAT vincent and Ota cooked.

Good job toei. Next week there is recap. Obviously,, they wanna make 1101 top tier too. Keep it.

Lesssgoooo peak piece!!

Absolute cinema!!!

I mean... I couldn't really believe what I was seeing cause it was just amazing. The effects, the animation, the framework... Everything was perfect, down to the last minute detail. It was so fun to see Gear 5 back, with such a fantastic action-packed episode. Though I kinda feel bad for Lucci cause he didn't stand a chance 😭😭. I could spend the whole day talking about it cause I'm still shocked from what I just watched. Akihiro Ota, Vincent Chansard and all the animation and storyboard team should be awarded for their work. What they did and have been doing in their latest appearances is simply passion and you can see how much effort was put into it . Overall, the best Egghead episode by a lot and one of the best of the entire series for sure. 10/10.

Phenomenal.

Episode 1100 of One Piece thrusts us into the heart of the clash between Luffy and the formidable Rob Lucci. The second round between the two is a crescendo of tension and breathtaking action. The animation perfectly captures the energy of the manga, with a visual style that makes every move and blow shine. The emotional intensity is palpable as Luffy confronts his old nemesis with renewed determination. The fight sequences are choreographed masterfully, keeping the viewer glued to the screen. This episode is a whirlwind of adrenaline and suspense, once again confirming One Piece's mastery in keeping fans on the edge of their seats.

Just Wow

Warning: Spoilers
I really tuned into this episode expecting it to not come close to gear 5's first appearance vs kaido. Man was i wrong ! This episode is even better and it's a better transformation episode than the first.

Firstly it's cinematic and directed to perfection. The music alone should be talked about. In my opinion One Piece was a bit lack luster in choreography compared to other anime. In this episode we finally get to see some hands - and legs, being thrown.

Second, I really want to point out that even when the fight wasn't on the screen and vegapunk was speaking on his theory. I was still so invested and shocked at how well they captured his passion to history.

Third, animation was top notch as expected for taking a week break. Lucci uncovering the rock was so smoothly done , it almost didn't even look like I'm watching One Piece.

This is up there with 1015 in my books. It's really nice to be a One Piece fan.

The Perfect Episode Adaptation
adam-921017 April 2024
This episode is the reason why I hesitate to tell people to read one piece instead of watch it. You'll miss out on THIS. This episode has animation that literally shouldn't be possible to create, every part of the team killed it here. The director, the animators, everything. This episode has more personality than most shows in their entirety, and that's not to put down any other shows. The amount of creative liberties they took from 10 manga pages is unbelievable, and yes, this episode only adapted 10 PAGES, that's not even a chapter, and you wouldn't even notice if I didn't mention it. This episode is the standard for how you're supposed to adapt manga to an anime, and I will be thinking about this for years to come.

Amazing Episode!
ayushmudhai8 April 2024
Toei back at it again with their fabulous animation! Great to see some of my favorite characters making a return in the anime. I have already read the manga up to the latest chapter, but seeing them back in the anime with their new powerups animated is just thrilling! It's amazing how well this arc is playing out already. It just started and it's already packed with action. I can't wait for a "certain person's" backstory to be animated (ifykyk). There's so many things in this arc that I can't wait to see animated, imo it's already better than wano(manga). Anyways keep up this great animation Toei.

Episode of the year
karimsherif-502648 April 2024
One of the most amazing episodes I have ever seen in the world of anime, and it may skip some series episodes. My tongue is unable to express more praise for this extraordinary episode. It is an episode above the rating. If there was a rating higher than ten, I would have given it higher than that. An episode for the history of the anime continuing on this high rating. If this episode drops below 9.9, then there is something wrong with those who rate less than 9/10. The episode is very wonderful. I hope this creativity continues. One Piece has reached a stage where it may become the best entertainment work in the history of entertainment.

Out of this world

Warning: Spoilers
While watching water 7 arc I never imagined that luffy will have this power and flexibility against Lucci even in another life. Gear 5 absolutely is one of the greatest things that have been shown on TV. Every frame or fighting scene is on another level, IT'S PERFECT AND PEAKING.

Gear 2 activation really would've been nostalgic and reminding of its first great days but Lucci asked for the greatest.

I watched the episode twice for the details and luffy literally his both eyes to look at different ways, dodging while doing 😁😝😃😴 and that was absolutely RIDICULOUS AND FUNNY. I LOVED IT

This episode, drawing, frames and fights They are UNIMAGINABLE ABSOLUTELY OUT OF THIS WORLD.

Absolutely amazing
thunderdoesstuff8 April 2024
The amount of callbacks and references to the original enies lobby ark from over a decade ago is insane. No other show can do it like one piece where you feel emotional attachments to the characters. Seeing luffy in gear 5th makes me so happy and reminds of everything he's been through to get to this point. This fight was also amazingly animated, it's so mind boggling that animation has reached a point where it's this good. Some people might skip to this episode to see what the hype is about. But you won't truly understand unless you've seen everything luffy and the straw hats have been through.

Luffy vs Lucci is awesome!
DJ2_Freeman7 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I think this might be one of my favourite episodes ever and the animators really killed it. A Luffy and Lucci rematch is something I didn't think we'd ever see before this. This arc has been great so far and this is only episode 13 I hope it continues like this throughout the rest of the arc

The episode starts with akainu being told that the straw hats are on egghead island and he tells the troops to inform Lucci not to fight Luffy. We get a big reveal that Kizaru is going to egghead island to assist the government. Luffy and Lucci start battling and pretty quickly Luffy transforms into gear 5 and all its glorious silliness and they continue to fight. The fight is great throughout the entire episode

Dr Vegapunk tells the straw hats about luffys true devil fruit powers and his theory about the creation/orgin of devil fruits. His theory is that they are dreams and desires of what people would want to be in different realities

If this is true it's a huge reveal and it brings up many new questions about them

Dr vegapunk calls sentomaru and tells him what's going on and Luffy is there to help him escape. Sentomaru sides with Luffy and turns the seraphim against CP0. The seraphim take commands from the elders, the vegapunks then sentomaru and lastly CP0 in that order. Luffy knocks Lucci away but while Luffy speaks with sentamaru briefly Lucci stabs sentamaru ending the episode.

After this If you still dont like gear 5 I think you'll find it harder to watch the show from now on because this is probably how Luffy fights will go. I personally enjoy it because it's something not many other anime's would ever try to do and I grew up watching those over the top cartoons so I really like it

Once again I have to praise the work here. I think the team did amazing!

One of the best episodes in One Piece!
Wappy1998 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
God damn what an episode!!!!

I waited for this episode for a long time and as expected, I was not disappointed. Tui in the last few years just go up in level and it's crazy.

The animation in the episode was amazing, goofy in a good part, the content itself even without the fight scenes is great, and every scene was executed perfectly. Great direction, the same director of 1089 (which was also an excellent episode). My favorite episode of egghead, so far. Bypasses chapter 1089 for me.

Next episode recap? Makes sense, they did a great job on the episode. Chapter 1101 (because the recap episodes are not numbered) is also going to be crazy, also because they are going to continue with this animation and this investment in the future of the battle without a doubt (I'm waiting for the part about the glasses, those who understand, understand) Chapter 1070 is also a great chapter, so waiting for the sequel.

What a perfect animation!
jhonatamoraes9 April 2024
The animation in this episode was one of the best I've ever seen in my entire life. The transformation of both Luffy and Lucci, the drums of liberation, Luffy's bloodthirsty look in the first attack, the adjacent elements added to compose the episode, Vegapunk explaining about Devil Fruits and marveling at finally seeing the god Nika...

The entire episode is very fluid with smoth fights. Toei, directors, animators, writers... Anyway, everyone did an excellent job in this episode. May this episode serve as a quality standard for manga -> anime adaptations.

Simply everything was perfect. That's it.

Phenomenal!!
aladhamgold15 April 2024
This episode of one piece was so damn phenomenal. The animation was top tier and out of this world. They did amazing on the cinematography and did not miss with the impact frames. I think I speak for all of us when I say that this episode was everything that a one piece fan could have ever asked for without a doubt in my mind. This isn't a spoiler but this episode not only contained some amazing fight scenes but it also talks very deeply about the lore of the story and gives us more development on the main character.

So personally all I gotta say is that I personally enjoyed every single second of this episode without ever feeling like it's missing something.

Toei delivered
amerxm-742-635509 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
From a manga reader point of view this episode absolutely delivered am relived after thinking toei couldnt handle this arc and whats to come am more than satisfied one of the best anime episode, pacing still an issue like always but they did a great job showing how far apart luffy and lucci are and the stuff that got added from toei in the fight absolutely amazing and iconic and we got more of Akainu desk adventures and a glimpse at what to come kizaru coming to egghead with luffy so poweful setups alot for. Thr future episodes ending of the episode was kinda disappointing plot wise because sentomaru was always hyped up to have the strongest defense and got took out just like that am sure he is not done cuz it is one piece after all.

Glorious
dwzcrrbjn11 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
The way luffy fights perfectly aligns with the concept of nika in general, it's so goofy and silly i can't help but to laugh and smile. And this exact reaction is the way the creator wants to make us all feel! The animation is so incredible i can't help but to watch this episode over and over again!!! Whenever someone says it doesn't fit or that it's too silly they clearly just don't understand what makes one piece so great, they insist on comparing it to other shows that are more serious. I just love how many call backs there are to when luffy and luchi first fought! Makes one feel quite nostalgic.

Best episode as a one piece fan
joeharson11 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Listen if you don't like this animation I get it it's different and childish like a cartoon but at the same time it's amazing. The level of skill required to animate like this is unbelievable. But enough about that now for the episode. The call backs to Enies lobby are perfect with the gear two stance. The fight between Lucci and luffy was just magnificent I can't believe it I think I've watched the episode 3 times and I want to again. The vegapunk explaining how devil fruits came to be and explaining what luffys gear 5 actually is and that the gum gum fruit doesn't exist. Just the perfect episode and I'm so excited for the next one.

Marvelous
ayadeyelu9 April 2024
Gorgeous animation. Faithful adaptation of the source material. Even going beyond the manga, instead of just jumping straight to the transformation process. The reactions of the crew as they wonder what exactly was transpiring such as receiving knowledge about the abilities and character of the sun God nika, then the phenomenal battle between Luffy and Lucci as they are both in their awakened forms, as they cause so much damage to egghead island is truly a marvel, this is truly by far the best adaptation by Toei animation and I hope that it doesn't end there, as the series continues to go forth.

One of the best episodes in one piece
xfjefry11 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was an absolute experience for the anime fans. The way oda introduced luffy's gear five was an shock to me,at first I had doubts of his power now I know he is one the strongest in the one piece anime.

It is made like cartoon because it is his power,he can do whatever he want. He can change his body to any shape and do What is in his mind. After lucci invade the egghead island he thought he had chance to win luffy and kill vegapunk. Now luffy is showing who is the boss.lucci think he has power to defeat luffy but I don't think he can defeat a God. The way luffy fight it's incredible animated in this episode, the color grading's are perfect for the anime and the impact frames it's shows how is one piece different from the other anime's.

It's was an absolute peak from one piece, and luffy was making laugh and goosebumps at the same time he fights with lucci. No wonder this is one of the great episode of peak piece.

I wish more people will watch this episode and reviews about it,and give honest review do not make one for rating to go down.

Peak anime
hiette11 April 2024
Not only was this episode jammed full of amazing animators and directors leading to beatutiful and dynamic animation not too much full of contrasting scenery and colors but the lore drop along with the increase in mystique of the existence of devil fruits this really is the best one piece episode so far. The only reason I say so far is because manga wise this is the very beginning of all the exciting and insane moments that go down on egghead that I'm sure we will get to be surprised again and again at how amazing this show is becoming. And for anyone saying it's too comedic I advise you to rewatch the episode because you clearly didn't notice the stark contrast between Luffy's free/ creative fighting style and Lucci's dark/primal aggression and demeanor.

AMAZING EPISODE!!
abderrezakbachircherif15 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Just the thought of a weekly anime being produced with such high quality, legendary animation, and amazing voice performances makes me lose my tongue in expressing how I felt and how much happiness and endless laughter I felt in this wonderful episode!!

Damn, I can't stop watching it again, and it's happening to me now, just like with episodes 1015 and 1071

We saw in this episode that Vegapunk allied with Luffy in order to ensure his protection under Luffy's banner.

We saw Luffy's reckless attack on Lucci, and of course Lucci responded in kind.

Luffy started to play with Lucci a little, but he was going to get beaten badly after what he did to Santomaru!!

We saw Vegapunk telling the Straw Hat Crew the truth about White Luffy and how Jimbei immediately figured out that he was the Liberation Warrior.

Kizaru goes to Egg Head!!

Excited for the next episode.

PEAK EPISODE
ruizrb20 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
The animation in this episode in absolute peak!!!, I like the way they animate the awakened form of rob Lucci's Cat Cat Fruit Model: Leopard and also Luffy's transformation In this episode is sooooooooo good!!!!! Like if you see the animation when Lucci attacks sentomaru damnnnn the animation is really good.

And I also want to add that this episode is more exciting and the animation in this episode is more better than Luffy vs. Kaido in wano.

I wanna appreciate the hard work of the animators of this episode which is Akihiro Ota and Vhincent if I'm not mistaken. Anyways I wish the upcoming episodes will be still good as this episode.

Absolutely Mediocre!
aiphenjimk8 April 2024
While watching this particular episode of One Piece, I found myself greatly disappointed as it stood out to me as the epitome of the worst kind of media content I have ever come across. The animation and art style presented in this specific episode were so subpar that they fell short even in comparison to what one would expect from a child's drawing or a rudimentary doodle. The lack of attention to detail, the inconsistency in character designs, and the overall poor execution in bringing the scenes to life all contributed to forming an overwhelming sense of dissatisfaction within me as a viewer. The animation not only failed to capture the essence of the well-loved characters but also seemed to disregard the established visual standards of the series, leading to a jarring and uncomfortable viewing experience. Moreover, the rigid movements and lackluster expressions portrayed in the characters further detracted from the storytelling, making it challenging to engage with the narrative on any meaningful level.

In essence, this episode's visual presentation was a stark departure from the typically high standards associated with the One Piece series, leaving a lasting impression of disappointment and a feeling of missed potential. Despite the engaging plot lines and charismatic characters that the series is known for, the visual aspect plays a crucial role in enhancing the overall viewing experience, and this particular episode fell egregiously short in that regard. The underwhelming visuals not only failed to do justice to the rich and vibrant world of One Piece but also detracted from the emotional impact of pivotal moments, reducing them to mere shadows of what they could have been. As a result, what could have been a captivating and memorable episode turned out to be a lackluster and forgettable affair, highlighting the importance of cohesive and well-executed animation in conveying the story effectively.

This disappointing episode serves as a reminder of the significant role that animation and art style play in shaping our perception of a series and underlines the detrimental impact that subpar visuals can have on the overall viewing experience. The disappointment I felt while viewing this particular episode was magnified by the stark contrast between its lackluster animation quality and the vibrant, dynamic world of One Piece that fans have come to adore. The sheer disconnect between the captivating narrative elements and the visual execution was glaring, robbing the episode of its potential to immerse and enchant the audience. The visual missteps in this episode resonated strongly, overshadowing its narrative strengths and leaving a long-lasting impression of a missed opportunity. The drop in animation quality not only failed to meet the audience's expectations but also failed to honor the intricate details and nuances that make the One Piece universe so captivating.

This lackluster presentation did a disservice to the rich storytelling tradition of the series, depriving viewers of a fully engaging and memorable experience that they have come to expect. In essence, this subpar animation episode not only fell short of delivering on visual excellence but also diminished the emotional resonance and impact of pivotal plot points, depriving viewers of the full emotional depth that the story line could have offered. The disappointment stemming from this episode further emphasizes the critical role that animation quality plays in crafting a compelling narrative and its profound influence on the overall viewer experience. The visual disappointment encountered in this particular episode of One Piece highlights a significant departure from the typically high standard animation associated with the series, evoking a sense of lost potential and a missed opportunity.

Throughout this episode, the animation failed to capture the dynamic essence of the characters, resulting in a disconnect between the audience and the narrative unfolding on screen. The lackluster visuals not only hindered the immersive experience that viewers anticipate from a series like One Piece but also underscored the crucial role that animation quality plays in conveying emotions and enhancing storytelling.

The episode's visual shortcomings cast a shadow over its compelling plot lines and intricate character dynamics, overshadowing the narrative strengths and diminishing the overall impact of pivotal moments. The sub-par animation further accentuated the disparity between the vibrant world of One Piece and the lackluster depiction presented in this particular episode, creating a sharp contrast that detracted from the viewing experience. The disappointment stemming from the visual flaws in this episode echoes a broader sentiment among viewers regarding the importance of maintaining consistency and quality in animation to deliver a truly engaging and immersive narrative. This visual letdown not only fell short of meeting the established standards of the series but also failed to uphold the rich visual legacy that fans have come to expect from One Piece, resulting in a missed opportunity to fully captivate and enthrall the audience.

The disconnect between the narrative's emotional depth and the animation's lackluster execution further highlights the vital role that visual presentation plays in evoking genuine viewer engagement and resonance with the story line. This lack of attention to detail and subpar artistic quality marred what could have been a memorable episode, leaving a lasting impression of dissatisfaction and unfulfilled potential. As a fan of One Piece, witnessing such a drastic drop in animation quality was disheartening and served as a stark reminder of the essential connection between visual elements and storytelling impact within a series. The disappointment felt during this episode wasn't solely due to its visual shortcomings but also stemmed from the missed opportunity to fully explore the narrative's emotional depths and character development through expertly crafted animation.

The negative impact of this visual misstep reverberated throughout the episode, overshadowing its narrative strengths and underscoring the importance of maintaining consistent and high-quality animation to do justice to the rich lore and captivating characters of One Piece. This episode's underwhelming visuals not only failed to engage the audience but also detracted from the immersive experience that fans have come to expect from the series, emphasizing the pivotal role that animation quality plays in enhancing the overall viewing experience. A crucial component in capturing the essence of a series lies in its animation quality, and the disappointment experienced while watching this episode of One Piece stemmed from the glaring discrepancy between the series' visual legacy and the lackluster execution in this specific instance.

The animation's failure to convey the vibrancy and depth of the One Piece universe not only diminished the emotional impact of key moments but also hindered the audience's ability to fully invest in the unfolding story. This visual letdown highlighted a missed opportunity to elevate the storytelling through expertly crafted visuals, leaving a resonating sense of dissatisfaction and unmet expectations. The substandard animation quality in this episode not only failed to honor the established standards of the series but also neglected to capture the intricate details and nuances that make the world of One Piece so captivating. This deviation from the series' usual visual brilliance underscored the critical role that animation plays in breathing life into the narrative and engaging the audience on a profound level.

The disconnect between the narrative's depth and the animation's lackluster presentation served as a stark reminder of the pivotal role that visual elements play in shaping the viewer's perception and emotional resonance with the story being told. The disappointment arising from this episode's visual shortcomings further accentuated the importance of maintaining consistent and top-notch animation quality in capturing the essence of beloved characters and conveying their emotional journeys effectively. Despite the engaging plot lines and intricate character relationships that define One Piece, the episode's subpar animation detracted from the overall experience, emphasizing the necessity of maintaining visual excellence to do justice to the series' rich storytelling tradition.

The disappointment evoked by this visual misstep echoes a broader sentiment among fans regarding the impact of animation quality on the immersive nature of storytelling, highlighting the essential role that visual presentation plays in crafting a truly captivating and memorable viewing experience.
