Emmy Award nominee Denis Leary is returning to Fox with an all-new comedy series, Going Dutch, as part of the actor’s broadcast direct deal with Fox Entertainment. Leary previously starred in the Fox family comedy series The Moodys, which was canceled after just two seasons back in 2021. The comedian will be hoping for better luck with Going Dutch, which is written and executive produced by Joel Church-Cooper (Brockmire). The new show centers on an arrogant, loudmouth U.S. Army Colonel, who, after an epically unfiltered rant, is reassigned to the Netherlands, where he is punished with a command position at the least important army base in the world. After serving with distinction in every warzone of the last three decades, he now finds himself in charge of a base with no guns, no weapons, and no tactical purpose. Instead, it has a Michelin-star level commissary, a top-notch bowling alley, and...

Fox has given a six-episode order to A Moody Christmas, a half-hour single-camera holiday event series, an adaptation of the Australian series of the same name, to air during the 2019 holiday season. The series hails from CBS TV Studios, which will co-produce with Fox Entertainment.

Senator Sarah Hanson-Young.
Labor has attacked the federal government for five and a half years of inaction over screen sector reforms while the Australian Greens have advocated a suite of measures to support the industry.
The Greens urged the government to impose a local content quota of at least 10 per cent on streaming services, harmonise the Producer Offset at 40 per cent and raise the Location Offset to 30 per cent.
The removal of the 65-hour cap for the Producer Offset, closing the New Zealand content ‘loophole,’ maintaining the existing content quota system and establishing terms of trade between broadcasters and producers were among the Greens’ proposals – all policies advocated by Screen Producers Australia.
Labor Senators accused the government of failing to articulate an agenda or vision for the Australian screen and music sectors and of cutting funding for public broadcasting by about $500 million.

The telemovie Redfern Now: Promise Me almost certainly won.t be the final chapter in the saga of the mostly indigenous residents of inner-city Sydney.
ABC TV head of programming Brendan Dahill hopes the creative team will get back together for another instalment in the franchise.
In a sense the drama produced by Blackfella Films. Darren Dale and Miranda Dear, which starred Deborah Mailman, Wayne Blair, Leah Purcell, Aaron Pederson, Rarriwuy Hick, Lisa Flanagan, Kelton Pell and Kirk Page, is a victim of its own success.
Dahill tells If, .The first two series were so popular the cast members are in heavy demand. But we hope to get the team back together when they are available..
Due to air in the next couple of months, Redfern Now: Promise Me will explore the impact of a violent crime on two women and the fight for justice that ensues. Anthony Hayes, Daniella...

Aacta.s decision this year to combine the best TV comedy and best light entertainment series into one category has drawn fire from some of the leading lights of the comedy business.
Actor/director Josh Lawson describes the move as .baffling and insulting for both categories. and complains there is only one category for acting- best performance in a TV comedy- compared with four for acting in TV dramas. .What are we to take away from this - that comedy is somehow easier? That people who work on comedies don't work as hard? That actors who do comedy aren't as talented or as deserving of accolades,. asks Lawson, who stars in Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues (which opens in Australia on December 19) and in Us thriller Crave (which launches in the Us on Friday). .What a slap in the face for all the hard working, incredibly talented Australians who work...
