Nice try, I expected better storyline
stelapap26 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I'm gonna rate this film as if it wasn't made by unboxholics. Firstly all the dialogues were meaningless and way too poetic for a film there wasn't a natural sense, you didn't have a chance to connect with the characters and worry about them and the film didn't built any anticipation, I was really expecting to feel uneasy and anxious but it didn't occur to me , I wanted to think about what is about to happen and if the lead character will survive etc.

At the most times I thought that something was gonna happen but I ended up being wrong.

Overall great picture amazing sound but the scenario could have been way better.

Nice try tho I expect more if there is a next movie from uh in the future.

Too way long and sometimes boring
Klowqa26 April 2024
Atmosphere is amazing, building from the beginning the anxious and horror elements!

Dialogues are way boring and without meaning.

Story plot: there was something interesting in it.

Cameras angles are way out of our standards from other Greek movies and the director should work on bigger project 100%.

Actors: he try to be one in the movie, with a nice try(Man) She is an actor and well played (female)

Proud to see this movie from our beloved team and family.

Music and soundtracks are killing it, this might be the second best thing about the movie!!!

For cinemas it could be much better, taking advantages of transitions and without speech some scenes.

A Good Starting Point (for things to come)
jhknicola25 April 2024
I have been following UH since 2018 and their growth in the matter of film shooting, editing and composing has gone to extremely high levels. This movie proves that. However, it should not be viewed as your average horror movie. There is deep symbolism and underlaying themes, motifs that the Karpas Brothers have shown in their previous short films "Lurking Near" and "Breakfast". The only problems with the movie for me were the way dialogue was delivered and the unnecessary number of long takes, accompanied by black screen. Overall, it is the best possible setting stage for Greek horror movies yet to come.

Very good first try on the big screen!!
Avraman4625 April 2024
I'm a big fan of UH for almost a decade the movie is brilliant cinematically and sound wise. The only thing in my opinion that needs work is probably the way the movie unfolds the plot and how the story goes on. Plus the dialogues there were big time gaps between dialogues, that can be good but also a bad thing too. There were a lot scenes were the movie makes you feel a very bad and 'uncomfortable' feeling but in a good way, I never felt that with any horror or psychological thriller. Huge respect on that! Act wise Fotini was A M A Z I N G plus Sakis gave a very good act without being an actor himself that's a huge accomplishment. All in all KOLOMPOURA BRAVO we look forward for the next one don't stop making us proud!!

Nice conversation after the movie !
ratnostpeiraias27 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
We initially discuss two characters who witnessed the deaths of their loved ones. On one hand, Sakis, unable to bear seeing his child suffer, chose not to help and drowned in sorrow. On the other hand, Fotini, fueled by hatred for her father's behavior, let him die by withholding his medication when needed. Sakis's close acquaintance, although not seen, hinted at by the canned food in the meal scene (unusual for the distance and the forest's food), suggests it might be a real person. On the contrary, the three researchers mentioned by Fotini cannot be proven to exist anywhere.

The water Sakis saw in the house and later in the forest likely symbolizes the water in which his child drowned. The serum shown to be connected to Fotini symbolizes the serum connected to Sakis's child due to his health issues. Additionally, the fact that Fotini seems to recognize the basement in the final scenes, despite not visiting it in the film, and the crane toy being on the floor (possibly the child's old toy), may indicate that the child had possessed Fotini and was speaking through her.

Fotini killing Sakis at the end may symbolize the same grief (as Sakis felt earlier) that the child felt for his father's downfall, wanting to remove him from his position. On the other hand, Fotini's suicide and the disappearance of her father's shadow upon seeing her suffer can be explained by the child freeing her after accomplishing what he wanted, and she succumbed to her own guilt, committing suicide, terrifying her father with her actions. (Hence, the shadow leaves upon her suicide).

The postscript, where Fotini urges Sakis to confess his mistake and then tells him that he can no longer escape his guilt, suggests another perspective: that the child saw Sakis vindictively and wanted to punish him accordingly.

(Translation from greek to english with chat gpy. Sorry!)

Within expectations but totally worth it
vtsatsas-6309127 April 2024
Judging it as viewer and not as a fan.

The movie was as expected from such as small crew with no experience on this field. Predictable story outcome, static images, not a lot of camera movement, same/similar shots etc. I don't know if there is an influence from all the horror games you've played, but I could see a pattern here. Definitely, the movie needed more characters and also, a little bit of faster dialogs, it was way too dramatic and at some point you start getting bored because you can predict what's coming. The sound design was exceptional for me and overall, I would say it was a very very good try for the first time.

Generally, it was different approach on this genre for this country and it is worthy to go check it out.

Aim big, go bigger!

Best of luck to the next one!

Let's be honest
kzdvxcrxk27 April 2024
For a start, 9 out of 10 reviews are biased since the produ cers are well known YouTube stars therefore the followers they have are rating the movie based on their love for their favorite channel and not for the actual movie.

On the movie now, production and videography is excellent and well above the "greek" standards. The scenery is very well chosen and helps a lot to improve the overall feeling of the movie.

The script is very shallow though which unfortunately takes a lot away from the amazing greek natural scenery. Acting is ok, but could have been definitely improved if the team had invested in it a little bit more.

Overall, a solid, well producedeffort that deserves recognition within Greece. The quality is high however the lack of a detailed and well thought out script has a negative impact on it. Definitely worth a watch.

It's just the beginning!!!
alexmaister-3814625 April 2024
As a big fan and follower of the UH it was obvious that I had to watch the movie at the premiere.

First of all, it's their first time on the big screen (and for sure not the last) and their journey to arrive there was accomplished out of a hard work.

About the movie, it's a well made horror movie with many great features. One of them is the cinematography. Personally I loved it and I think it gives another tone to the movie. It is the one of the characteristics that I love in European movies, something that is missing from the Hollywood. Believe it or not, an atmosphere like this one it's hard to find it on Hollywood movies.

In addition, I really liked the background music, it was just to the point. In almost all the scenes the music was fitting just perfectly. You may think it's just a detail but not at all, it's a big plus if you know how to play with it and to know how to use it.

About the plot, I can't say that it's extraordinary or something crazy or something that I have never seen. There are some scenes that could be less longer or even cut from the last edit but as I write on the title, it's just the beginning and we all know that these guys can only go up!

I have been so many times at the cinema and it was one of the very few times that before and after the movie the crowd was applauding.

Nice try
pistolerogp29 April 2024
First I want to say that I am their fun and I have seen all the videos from the guys for years. I don't miss a single one of their livestreams.

Positives: unbelievably good cinematography by Alekos with incredible shots that I actually expected. The actors' performances are very good with the one of the bright one standing out. The music and sound gave me quite a chill.

And this is where the negatives start: The script and plot border on mediocrity as it was nothing we haven't seen before. You put in supernatural events happening that didn't even depend in the movie. At one point I started laughing and in a scene with the bright girl we all know who she is now. The ending wasn't predictable the truth is because it simply didn't even make sense. I didn't connect with the characters in the movie at all because I think there were more scenes and dialogue missing as far as their back story is concerned. Guys really the ending was something I can't forget. It felt like you guys wanted to get it over with and really send it.

Conclusion: The film was a good effort for the Greek horror scene. For God's sake don't expect it to be a generally good effort of world-class calibre like this. For 7 people who made it it is obviously the best you will see from a film by such people. ( Horror films have a small budget anyway ) I bet you could have done better and I bet you can do better because I don't think after that kind of support it's the only one you'll get.

Great Sound - Decent Cinematography - Amateur Scriptwriting
nick_lalos27 April 2024
Great sound quality and music that built atmosphere and made the viewer have higher expectations than the final outcome.

Decent cinematography with many interesting static shots. Dark scenes had the required clarity without giving difficult time to the viewer.

Storytelling was indifferent and some times dull. Many loosely related elements that made the movie have no clear direction besides the main theme of guilt and redemption through death. No empathy for the characters.

Acting was mediocre. Male role was unnatural and stiff, female role had potential (dancing in the forest scene) but didn't fully payoff.

Great work, but it's their first movie.
ioannistsantilas29 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I will talk about this film without thinking that it was made by Unboxholics, but by a small team of 7 people, and not a big studio.

-- Duration: The film was short in length but I think it showed enough (though it left a lot of questions, not necessarily concerns, maybe plot holes). Contrary to some reviews that argue that some scenes were drawn out, I think each one had its role and its proper length. However, possibly scenes were missing that could have made some plot-holes clearer. 8/10 -- Plot: The plot was interesting. The subject matter is serious, realistic and inhuman. I liked the detail that the characters are unknown, faceless, with no names to make them "people". They may represent the same coin, killing one of their own, but maybe one of them is morally right, even if on a gray line. The dialogue was also right and realistic. However, it has obvious flaws, which I will discuss below. 6/10 because of the gaps, if they had been answered it would have easily reached 9/10.

-- Camera: The camera was fantastic, Alekos did wonders, as did the colours, with the lanterns and yellows contrasting nicely in the darkness. In other scenes, where the characters are lost in the harsh and dark forest, the viewer panicked at her spammy movements, while desperately searching for something in the minimal light provided by the lens. In the measured (but serious) jump-scares, the movement was just right and professional. 10/10.

-- Sound: also fantastic. The strings and bass were masterfully placed in the right places to make the experience even more creepy. The simple sounds (walking, eating, etc) were also clear. 10/10.

-- Woman: played by the (fantastic) Foteini (see "Breakfast", a very serious short film), for me she elevated the film to an 8. Some people disagree, saying that she was too cold in parts (e.g. When she tried to show she was upset with the Man for not believing her), but she had scenes that made your blood run cold. Specifically, when she's lying on the floor crying/screaming while her father's shadow is in the background. There, it was indeed creepy and really elevated the movie in my eyes. I also loved her dialogue at the end, it confuses you and makes you itch to find out what's going on, culminating in her murder and suicide. 9/10.

-- Man: played by Sakis, who may not be a professional actor, but he didn't bring the film down on my eyes at all. He played the role of the distant, abrupt man very well. I liked the part where he recounts (half-truth) the death of his son (specifically when he says "let's go fishing, let's go fishing" and somehow his expression lightens up at the memory of his son). In the end, however, when the truth is revealed, I might have wanted a little more emotion, despite the fact that it perfectly conveyed the "confusion" he felt with the Woman's dialogue in the basement (specifically, "cut it out and tell me what the hell is going on"). 8/10.

-- Song: Close to You, by Kid Moxie. Very nice and inextricably linked to the movie. The synths go perfectly with the strings. "Tonight we're closer than ever, like a glimpse into forever": accompanying the two dead characters, who lay dead together in the basement. "It feels like we've been here before, knocking onto silent doors, and I'll always stay": possibly something in purgatory, where the characters are reliving their hell. "If you bleed, I die": when one of them bled, they died. "This is a two way dream": again, maybe something in purgatory. 10/10.

-- Plot: The series might be a bit of a mess, forgive me. The story is about a Man isolated in the forest from any form of civilization, in a hut. One night, a Woman appears at his door, terrified, and begs him to open the door, which he does. She explains that she is with a group of biologists who have come to the forest to examine its flora. That night, she was awakened by the screams of her colleagues and all she could see was a figure (she doesn't say if it was human-shaped) approaching her. Immediately, she started running until she found the hut. The next morning, they go to their campsite, in the only clearing in the forest, but there is no sign, no tents, no fire, no signs of blood or violence. The Man suspects something is wrong, but he can't send her away, as the nearest town is 2 days' walk away. Luckily, he has a friend who supplies him every 2 weeks and in 2 days he will visit him, at which point he makes it clear to the Woman that he can't help her anymore and that he will go down to town with his friend. On the second night, the Man has a nightmare of the Woman standing naked in front of him and being stabbed, blood running from her eyes, and her mouth making an eerie sound. Waking up, he discovers that the door is open and the Woman is missing. So he goes to find her. Meanwhile, the Woman seems to be sleepwalking with a lantern in the middle of the forest. At one point she shorts herself and a white figure (not clearly visible) approaches her from behind with heavy footsteps. He whispers something to her in an eerie voice and unintelligible words. At that moment, she is found by the Man (the figure has disappeared) and the Woman begins to have some kind of spasm, stretching her arms in the shape of a cross, up and down. Eventually, he passes out and returns her to the hut. The next morning, the Man asks her what happened but she doesn't remember anything. They go into the clearing again, by another trail, and the Man recounts how he lost his ten-year-old son two years ago in a storm. Once he finishes his story, they move on, and the Man sees the ghost of the son (who doesn't look well at all, but is wearing white clothes) in the distance of the woods. Terrified, he orders the Woman to turn around. In the evening, the Woman asks him if he saw his son in the woods, and to Man's surprise, she reveals that she sees her father. She tells him that sometimes he is nice to her, but sometimes he is not. She reveals to him that he used to sexually harass her as a child when he was drunk, and on one of those occasions she had a heart attack. The heart attack had happened other times, with Little Woman always bringing him his drugs. But that night, she didn't and watched him die in front of her, killing him. In the next shot, we see the Woman lying on the floor, crying in terror and shaking, while a shadow of a man, the ghost of her father, can be seen in the background. Turning slowly towards the shadow, the Woman breaks down in tears and screams. The day when Man's friend will come dawns but he does not appear in the morning. The Man claims he will come no later than noon but the Woman says that "they will need more wood for the evening." Our story ends with the Man having another nightmare, this time in his basement. There is a medical serum, and following the wire behind some things, a hand with the needle of the serum stuck in the palm catches him and he wakes up. He confronts the woman sitting at the table, her back to him, seemingly asleep. He sits across from her and she, in her grief, ghoulishly picks up a pencil and writes the word FIVE on paper. Immediately, her head jerks back, her eyes rolled back and she makes that eerie howl again like the first nightmare. The Man is lost in the dark woods and hears his son's voice calling to him. Finally, he returns to the cabin and finds the Woman in the basement, awake. She strangely tells him that the place and things (all of his son's things that he has kept in boxes) need cleaning. He has a dangerous look on his face that we've never seen before. Finally, he tells Andras that he knows the truth and that "he won't let you go." The Man sees something in the basement entrance (I think something white?) and, horrified, accepts defeat and sits down. He recounts how his son was gravely ill and could not bear to see him. So when they went fishing and a storm hit he was pushed and drowned. Looking up, he sees that the Woman is not in front of him. She appears behind him, with the knife that was stabbed in his nightmare and stabs him many times, even when he falls down. Finally, she turns her gaze back to the distant shadow of her father and cuts her throat in terror.

I should note here that in an earlier shot (I don't remember exactly when), we see the camera with a light behind it (in first person) going up the stairs to the Woman's bedroom and disappearing into her back (maybe a spirit possessed her?).

-- Plot Holes: We never learn if Woman was really a biologist. If she was, what happened to her team? If she wasn't, and it was all a lie, how did the Woman end up in the cabin? Did she know the Man's story beforehand? Why would she seek revenge? If she didn't know, how did she find out about the Man? Was she possessed by the spirit of his son, killed him, and then, because she herself had terrible remorse and with the shadow of her father always by her side, committed suicide? Why is it that when the Woman stabs the Man, there is not the slightest sign of blood, both on his clothes and on his skin? Is there one monster/demon/ghost or many? Because sometimes we saw signs of a white figure, while other times just shadows. How did the Woman know that the Man's friend would not come? Or was it that even if he did come, she intended to stay? If so, why should she stay?

-- End: let me now speak as their fan. Despite the harsh criticism above, the truth is that I was moved by the play. These guys, who I've been watching for 9 years now (since the days when livestreams used to put a red paper over the light so that it would be red-horror), I can't help but feel pride in their work and what they've accomplished. And above all, they haven't changed a bit, despite the fact that they are now popular. I was particularly moved by the ending, and I'll explain why: the hero doesn't win, there's no happy ending, our characters aren't saints, and everyone dies - just like in so many sick games in the livestreams. A play by them for us.

uh created a "movie", but why? That's right they didn't even know why. They wanted an atmospheric photographers movie
filitsa-9876329 April 2024
Unboxholics started with an idea but they lost it on the way. The production and the editing is too much for 6 people, they needed help to grow their idea. They lost their idea and their "why", their story throughout the making of it. The story (why, idea, plot) gives birth to the creation of the movie's WORLD (place, people, scenery, etc)

Unboxholics did it on reverse. They tried to create a world without a reason, a story a why. Only some shallow references to that. Which leaves us with so many questions and a bad aftertaste, that something feels wrong.

I'm also a fan, not gonna lie my expectations were above high, I was hyped and disappointed. I will not say much just my honest opinion. This is a photographer's movie. The scenes are still not in the "the witch" way and the dark scenes in the forest are not remotely close to the ones from "Blair witch project". The dialogues were not built with a meaning behind them, I'm sorry but it's true. The acting was not above 4/10. In order to make a thriller that doesn't remind you of the James wan universe you need to have a reason "why" to support everything you're doing.

almost fell asleep
user123338828 April 2024
This is my first review, so if the movie motivated me to write one means that the movie did something wrong. First of all let's begin with the good aspects of the movie. Lighting and in general the picture was quite good. The sound didn't make you feel that you were watching a horror film. Now about the plot... Was there any? The female lead was quite good but that wasn't enough to make a horror film. The film felt quite repeating. Some scenes were too long too long even for the dramatic effect that they were trying to achieve. The movie was decent for the first try. But definitely it's not worth the 8+ that all the people above me are giving it.

A love film to their homeland, a part of their souls.
lordvp26 April 2024
This was not just a movie. I cannot separate the film from the movie-going experience, because I felt something I have not felt in a long time. It is very rare these days that you feel a sense of community within strangers, and that is the feeling that overcame me yesterday. An acceptance and warmth, and a common purpose that I have only felt in the culmination of great movie franchises.

The movie itself was a masterpiece. Cinematography is truly a masterclass by Alexandros Karpas, and in combination with the Oscar-worthy sound design, emerges you fully in the depths of the protagonists' psyches.

The Voras mountain serves as a third protagonist, the setting if you will, for this purgatory, out of earth place, our leads are trapped in.

Sakis Karpas' performance is 100% cinematic, whilst Foteini Levogianni's, although truly top-notch, I felt was a bit theatrical at times, but again carries the film.

It is really hard to believe this is indeed the work of 6 people. Hollywood productions with 600 people crews produce results that do not come close to this.

A love film to their homeland, a part of their souls.

Extremely good Effort.
C-man0026 April 2024
I would rate this movie a descend 6 but considering the effort of only 6 people in Total then it deserves a 7.

Do not get me wrong i am a big fun of UH for many years but i am rating the movie as a viewer and not a fan.

I am 100% no expert but this is my poor opinion.

Music and Cinematography/photography is outstanding. Guys did an amazing job to transfer the image and the vibes from music. Therefore there were sometimes that sounds (like the cutting of the woods) were a bit exaggerated.

Sakis was something unexpected for me! I was amazed of how good he acting was and how natural was his acting, showing no effort and staying true to his role. Mama is a natural talent!

Regarding Fotini i have to be honest that i was not so amazed. He physique helped her a lot for the role due to her cold face/expression. Her screams were ok but this is not so hard in acting. On the other side i did not like how she was pointing the words when she was talking which is more of a theatrical type of acting and not for a the big screen. In many cases she was overreacting.

The dialogues/monologues were sometimes way to slow or big and i was catching myself disctracted until i hear the next sentence from the actors after their big pauses.

At the end of the movie you are leaving thinking of all the possible scenarios, which they can be so many. And this is not only because of the target of the movie, but also i believe from lack of information and background during the story.

In General it is an amazing effort and a very good result if you reconsider how many people participated and the experience they had. Of course there will be mistakes but they are for sure very talented and in the right path.

A Slow-Paced Disappointment
vassiliskounelis30 April 2024
A Slow-Paced Disappointment

Prepare yourself for a sluggish journey through mediocrity in Don't Open the Door 2024. From the moment the film begins, it's clear that time moves at a glacial pace, leaving audiences struggling to maintain interest. What should have been a concise and engaging narrative felt like a short film awkwardly stretched to fit the runtime of a feature.

The acting performances did little to salvage the experience, as the actors seemed to struggle with their roles, leaving viewers cringing at every poorly-delivered line. The dialogue itself was a major letdown, lacking depth and authenticity, making it difficult to invest emotionally in the characters or their predicaments.

However, amidst the sea of disappointments, there were a few saving graces. The cinematography managed to capture some visually striking moments, providing fleeting glimpses of the film's potential. Additionally, the musical score succeeded in setting an eerie atmosphere, albeit overshadowed by the overall lackluster execution.

In conclusion, Don't Open the Door 2024 falls short of delivering the suspenseful and captivating experience it promises. With its sluggish pacing, subpar performances, and uninspired dialogue, it's a film that struggles to hold the attention of its audience. While the visuals and music offer brief moments of respite, they ultimately fail to elevate the movie beyond its shortcomings.

A good try for first try with silent hills vibes with a magnificent house at details.
polyxenitouloupa26 April 2024
For Greek data and not only, for 7 people only a group, they were definitely something worth seeing. Fantastic image, sound, shots, angles and some scenes were definitely etched in my mind like the scene with the serum but also the black forest when the saki wanders scared in it with a perfect chord playing from behind and shots quickly alternating. But I felt that it was missing something. Maybe I definitely wanted a few more minutes in the movie, at least ten minutes long, as it left me with some unanswered questions and confused me at some points. Spo alert I didn't feel confused as to who is the "bad guy" and who isn't so much as promising that we will be scared with our thoughts as the guy looked almost completely scared at least 65% of the scenes and the girl almost completely shyco, basically in 70% of the scenes. I will agree with other comments that I didn't like the change of scenes with a black background every time and the gap between the dialogues, in moderation this would be perfect though. It left me with questions like, after all, she really told the truth about what happened in the forestetc., how did she know that he wouldn't come, that is she was demonized from the beginning or from the middle of the movie and it was ultimately the demons that they carried within them from the guilt that in the end and aldo you don't feel anger for them that they should be punished but pity for the bad things that happened especially the girls basically.

If many went crazy about this movie what they would do at kouklotheatro? I think kouklotheatro is way too good than the movie that is NOT horror but shycological thriller !!!!

Average, 4.5 scary scenes in total, too long monologs
chucknorriskal30 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
In my opinion it had nice atmosphere but it wasn't scary more than 3 minutes in total. The movie lasted 87 minutes which 60 minutes were building 4 scenes of horror. The film is described as a psychological horror which for me it doesnt make sense as the movie tries to express a meaning of "everyone takes what he deserves". Overall the flim and its title was like trying to pass a meaning to the audience for their everyday life which is inaccurate when it is advertised as a horror movie... The Uh team didn't meet their goal for having the audience in deep thoughts after the movie. They must have got mixed up those 2 years that they were filming and I think they lost their initial idea as the time passed. On the YouTube they have shown better short film in my opinion. I got a bit disappointed. Their film could be an ok theatrical performance.

A bone chilling movie with an intriguing plot
angiepap-6970126 April 2024
I had high expectations of the movie since I have already watched other movies and videos from the creators but this one it exceeded my expectations!

The plot, the sounds, the scenery of the dark forest-it all blended together perfectly!

Fotini Levogianni did amazing and managed to make me feel uneasy in my seat but in a good way.

Sakis Karpas-although an amateur- complimented Fotini great with his acting and his eyes truly showed all the emotions of the character.

The cinematography and all about the visuals -which Alexandros Karpas was in charge- truly immersed me into the movie!

The different angles, the dim lighting, the way every scene was portrayed it just brought me chills and I felt a sense of uneasiness and fear that a lot of thriller movies that I have seen missed out on.

Lastly the plot was so much deeper that you think of at first and had an open ending. It's not a typical scary movie, it actually showed the flawed side of humans, their wrongs, their bad side but also remorse and finally their redemption. It was more poetic, it didn't just have a basic storyline and there were hidden messages.

It truly left me with a lot of questions in the end and you can interpret it differently but all in all it was a great movie considering that it was made by a small -but strong and passionate- team!

They poured all their hearts into it and you can see it!

That's why I'm rating it 10/10!

I hope this movie gets the recognition it deserves!

Lots of love to everyone that helped in the making of the movie and huge congratulations to Sakis and Alexandros Karpas for making their dream come true!

Interesting take on purgatory theme
phantaminum1929 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Positives: The movie offers an interesting, quite different and fresh take on the purgatory theme.

Negatives: The movie was quite slow and had scenes that felt repeated.

My interpretation of the film: The two protagonists are in purgatory. The man probably died the night where the heat stopped working, while the woman probably committed suicide (by stabbing herself in the stomach?). Thus explaining why the friend they were expecting never arrives.

In purgatory they are haunted by their thoughts, regrets and guilt. In order to get out, they need to cleanse their souls.

This duo works because their stories have the same pattern: bad father vs innocent child. And they need each other to find peace.

The man was tormented by guilt for letting his child die. By being killed (by a former innocent abused child) he is freed, because he gets the punishment he feels he deserves.

On the other hand, the woman is tormented by guilt for letting her father die. She is freed when she kills again (another father), having come to terms with the fact that she did the right thing in the first place, and she would do it again.

Good for YouTube

Warning: Spoilers
Very nice try but for the YouTube. 1 star is for the images and 2nd star is for the music. I did not see the scenario and of course, I did not understand the story but yes had a point do not open the door to strangers. Also, the pauses between each scene change brought something from the past. Again very nice try but not for the cinema. I wish this movie helped the producers to have the money they need so the next to be better. With respect always for their work it was not something that I felt nice that I paid to see. The film the scenario everything needed to be prepared more carefully. I fell asleep and that is not something that happens usually in the cinema. Good luck with the next one!

Atmospheric and emotional horror movie
sparagisk26 April 2024
The film manages to transport you to a distant dark environment, and make you come next to the protagonist's space. It is embraced by intense music and sound effects and I can say that it is not the script that captivates but the message behind it and also the way it unfolds for the viewer.

The place, the season, the sound, the environment, the event and its evolution are interwoven with intensity and the message at the end is as clear as you want it to be.

I just can't believe that the film was made by a team of 7 people with only one actress and a group of people outside of the cinema entastry. Simply, congratulations, it's epic.

Good

Good movie with excellent sound and image quality. The film also touches on social issues such as domestic violence and mental illness. These issues are addressed sensitively and without didacticism, adding depth to the story and characters, moreover. The script, written by the Unboxholics themselves, is based on classic genre motifs such as isolation, the threat of unknown danger and secrets from the past. Nevertheless, it manages to keep the viewer's interest with unpredictable developments and atmospheric scenes. It is definitely a film that will keep you on your toes until the end and it is a very good film for Greek standards.

"don't open the door" in the end this film opens many doors for future masterpieces...
fotisfotakis27 April 2024
A dark forest, a gloomy atmosphere, suffocating and inhospitable, It's the first thought's that comes to mind as you watch the film called "don't open the door", we have 2 very interesting characters a very mysterious man whose words are measured and an Also very mysterious female biology scientist where she appears shocked by an unexplained event that takes place in the depths of the black forest.

"Don't open the door" of the Karpa brothers (and the whole team of unboxhilcs) is a very interesting psychological thriller that aims to speak to your soul, make you think about moral issues and put you in the character's shoes.

The visuals of the film are mesmerizing and perfectly captures what the filmmakers had in mind, grey landscapes, aesthetic shots of the nature and an inhospitable dark forest full of secrets, We owe all this to Alexandros Karpas who is responsible for the cinematography of the film, 3 words about him, A true artist.

On the sound part we have an excellent work by the UH team, the creators have managed to pursue and eventually achieve a surround full crystal clear sound that comes from very clever placement's of the microphones in the shooting areas, as a result the sound gives you the feeling that you are part of the scene.

I won't say much about the music because it was just masterful it gave a sparkle to the film it was a true highlight right there. Kid Moxie and kostas ageris they sure know how to cook.(Let them cook then).

In the acting part, we have the first protagonist Sakis Karpas where he did an amazing job considering that he is not a professional actor but he managed a very honest result ,the vibe that the script wanted him to pull out was achieved very smoothly, much respect for that one. On the other side we have our second protagonist fotini levogiani, what can you first say about this talented girl, her acting was just stunning, she did an amazing job getting under the skin of the role, this girl didn't play just her role but she lived it, she achieved a masterful result and deserves a lot of applause.

I left the script and dialogues for the end because I wanted to be objective and not let my enthusiasm for Unboxhilcs to get the better of me. I won't hide that I noticed some "mistakes" like the slow pacing of the movie where I understand it was a choice of the creators to serve an atmosphere at certain points but at some points it felt awkward, the story didn't give many answers and there were some gaps in the script, the dialogues sometimes didn't follow the flow of the story and it felt a bit shallow, I also didn't get attached to the characters, the chemistry between them wasn't that good and the main flaw for that was that the 2 characters were anonymous so you can't easily get attached to them, Also the dialogues could have been more enriched, for example when there was a conversation between the 2 main characters you always noticed a delay in the recipient's answers which in some parts doesn't fit especially when you have such a shallow and one-word dialogues in your script. This is in no way a negative thing there is room for progress and improvement the team of Unboxhilcs have shown us in a resounding way that they have the passion, skill and professionalism for more masterpieces.

A message to the Word ,I urge you to watch and support such a wonderful effort because this film has achieved the "impossible".
