Universal Orlando has shared the first official look and details of its highly anticipated new theme park, Universal Epic Universe, that the company expects to be a game changer.
Set to open in 2025, the park “invites guests to explore vibrant worlds filled with extraordinary adventures that go beyond their wildest imaginations,” Universal Orlando said in a blog post today. Specifically, five immersive worlds with 50 dining, shopping and entertainment experiences.
The lands are set within “the breathtaking gardens in the heart of Epic Universe” and start with Celestial Park, the first world visitors encounter, that serves as a portal the to the other four — The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic; Super Nintendo World; How To Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk; and Dark Universe. Enough for a weeklong vacation destination, Universal is betting.

Everyone loves fun car films. With Fast X spawning a spin-off and sequel and Gran Tusimo (out on VOD Tuesday) doing decent business at the box office, the genre isn’t going anywhere. We thought now would be a good time to check out some less-known (or underrated) entries into the genre.
Taxi
We’re going to cheat right off the start by counting this whole series and one entry on this list. The films here are action-comedy classics for fans of French movies and those who love a good car stunt. The first established the characters, but the second is possibly the best of the bunch. Only die-hard fans will want to bother from the third to the fourth to the fifth. However, those first two are worth seeking out what the French do with a modified Peugeot 406, the vacation town of Nice, and a cast that most will recognize from other movies.

The first month of a new year is a good time to make a new impression. And that’s just what Netflix seems set on doing with its list of new releases for January 2021.
The streamer is coming out strong with a third season of Cobra Kai, formerly of YouTube Premium. The next installment in Daniel Larusso and Johnny Lawrence’s story is set to arrive…eventually. Netflix has not unveiled a released date yet but it will be during this month. While Cobra Kai is the highlight among Netflix’ original series, it’s not the only one by a long shot. Last year’s fun Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous returns for a second season on Jan. 22 and it will be accompanied by Fate: The Winx Saga. Also, if you’re a fan of things that will one day be .gif’ed to death, the Nicolas Cage-hosted History of Swear Words drops on Jan.

"Drive for love, Roy! Drive for love!" Netflix has debuted an official trailer for an action comedy film from Norway titled Asphalt Burning, which is the new English release title. This is actually the third movie in an action comedy, high octane car racing franchise from Norway called Børning - the first one (Borning: The Fast & The Funniest) opened in 2014, followed by Børning 2 in 2016. When the brakes slam on his wedding, Roy (the main character from all the Børning films - played by Anders Baasmo Christiansen) accepts a challenge from a new foe to race for his own runaway bride at the iconic Nürburgring track in Germany. "Børning 3 is mainly set in Germany, still focusing on car racing – high speed, fierce competition, with an exciting confrontation at the famous race track." Also starring Kathrine Thorborg Johansen, Ida Husøy, Otto Jespersen, Sven Nordin, and Trond Halbo. This looks like good-hearted racing fun.

Leading Norwegian company Maipo is developing “Fortress,” an ambitious dystopian thriller, and is preparing the second season of “State of Happiness” (“Lykkeland”), the historical series which is competing this week at Canneseries.
“Fortress” is created and penned by two high-profile Norwegian screenwriters: John Kåre Raake, whose track record includes Nordic blockbusters such as “The Wave,” Roar Uthaug’s disaster movie, and “Ragnarok, a family film based on Viking mythology;” and Linn-Jeanethe Kyed, who notably co-wrote “Børning” and “Børning 2,” a action-comedy movie franchise set in the world of illegal sports car racing, and Benjamin Ree’s critically acclaimed documentary feature about the Norwegian chess prodigy, Magnus Carlsen.
“Fortress” takes place in a near future in Norway which is now secluded from the rest of the world by a wall built by the nationalistic government. Norwegians live in absolute sovereignty, relying only on their own homegrown resources and caring solely about national affairs.

Norwegian cinematographer-turned-director Hallvard Bræin had one of the more intriguing success stories of 2014 with his road race comedy Børning. Denied production support by the nation's cultural funds - which provide the normal means of making the vast majority of films made in the most expensive nation on the planet - producers made the high risk decision to go ahead and make the film anyway, backed entirely with private money. They believed in Bræin and they believe that their nod to the spirit of the Cannonball Run films would find an enthusiatic audience and they were richly rewarded when their tale of a not-particularly-good father partaking in an illegal road race from top to bottom of the Nordic nation with his daughter went on to...

Other winners include Chef, The Hundred-Foot Journey and Stations of the Cross with a special mention for ’71.
Richard Linklater’s coming-of-age drama, Boyhood, picked up the Norwegian Film Critics Award at the closing of the 42nd Norwegian International Film Festival in Haugesund.
In an understated comment, the jury described the Us film as a” somewhat ordinary and rather undramatic story” that still – or perhaps precisely because of this – becomes “a very special film treasure”.
An honorary mention went to British film ‘71, directed by Yann Demange, with the jury branding the soldier-behind-enemy-lines feature as “an extraordinarily well-made film that is both a brutal thriller and a nuanced, thoughtful work.”

There have been a flood of fast car movies releasing around the globe in recent years for one very simple reason: The Fast And The Furious. The blockbuster franchise has been a huge hit all around the globe, leading local producers to scramble to put their own regional stamp on the formula in hopes of repeating that success. But when it comes to Hallvard Bræin and his upcoming Børning they've cast their eye a little farther back when looking for a touch point. Yup, Bræin and his producers - the same team that was behind Andre Ovredal's Trollhunter - aren't citing the Fast franchise on an influence on this one, preferring instead to nod to The Cannonball Run.The story revolves around an illegal road race...
