Samy, an Egyptian-American with an identity crisis, along with his sister, Sara, flee Egypt in the wake of the Arab Spring, and look for sanctuary in New York. Samy is running away from a drug problem, and Sara is looking for a better life.
Samy quickly makes friends with Slims, a rich, white boy who leads him to relapse. Samy and Slims' girlfriend, Angelica, end up falling in love.
Samy soon proposes to her aristocratic, European family, in hopes that the marriage will solve all his problems.
All these factors come together in the form of obstacles that intensify and come to a climax on the day of the wedding.
