A look at Robert Wise's career with incredibly limited resources. You get 1 interview shot in extreme close up with bad sound and a long line of trailers for his movies and other movies that he worked on, or in some cases didn't. You have one talking head whose footage slips from black and white to colour between shots, and one voice over guy who reads his lines like he's asleep.
It's ironic that someone who started as an editor gets suck a terribly edited movie about him. But the biggest thing is that Wise, while a competent director, is very boring and his movies don't really show any "personality" beyond well made films. He had no authorial stamp nor any inclinations to. BUT he did make some solid movies. Too bad this doc is a turd.
The dumbest part of this whole thing is when they leave in a question asked during the interview. "I've heard they're doing a new DVD of West Side Story." He answers, "I don't know anything about it."
Wow, great stuff to leave in a movie guys...
