I've rated about 2000 movies on IMDb but this is my first review. While I liked this film, it certainly isn't in my 'all time top picks', so why did I suddenly feel moved to write about this particular movie? I don't always agree with the general consensus of ratings on IMDb, especially with many mainstream movies (I don't like horror or action or melodrama), but usually when a movie is rated very low, it's for good reason, and I usually agree. This movie (at the moment) has an extremely low rating – 3.7, and the critic reviews (there are no individual reviews yet) absolutely hated it. In fact they were so mean that I had to object by posting this. Yes, they are right that the dialogue in the film often felt stilted and yes it did feel like a play much of the time (which it was before the same cast brought it to the screen). But I thought it was a clever idea, and an interesting story exploring a metaphysical view of life and love. It's not as well done as some other films in the same vein like 'Stranger Than Fiction' or 'Ruby Sparks', but I'm glad I saw it. I would have loved to have seen the play!
