Vampire survival base-builder V Rising launched in Steam early access in May 17, 2022. Just within one year of frequent updates, Stunlock Studios is gearing up for its full release on May 8.
The full release promises to add an endgame zone titled ‘The Ruins of Mortium’. The Steam announcement talks about “a final chapter to cap off your Vampire journey”, which likely means raising the current level cap of 84.
Stunlock Studios also highlights the addition of full gamepad support that V Rising was sorely lacking in its early access period. Otherwise, the castle building system is also getting a few touchups which has been arguably one of the better aspects coming out of the indie open-world survival title.
Here are the full list of features coming with V Rising’s 1.0 release:
Explore a new deadly endgame zone: The Ruins of Mortium! A final chapter to cap off your Vampire journey! Dynamic endgame events!

Having trouble predicting who will win Best Movie/Limited Actor at the 2024 Emmy Awards? Let’s consult Gold Derby’s Emmy Experts! These savvy pundits from major media outlets have chimed in with their first set of predictions, and they say the trophy will go to either Jon Hamm (“Fargo”) or Tom Hollander (“Feud: Capote vs. the Swans”). The other potential nominees at this early stage are David Oyelowo (“Lawmen: Bass Reeves”), Hiroyuki Sanada (“Shogun”), Matt Bomer (“Fellow Travelers”) and Andrew Scott (“Ripley”) — but that could all change in the coming months.
As of this writing, two our of six Emmy Experts predict a victory for Hamm: Peter Travers (ABC) and Ray Richmond (Gold Derby). He plays corrupt Sheriff Roy Tillman on Season 5 of FX’s quirky anthology series. Hamm has received 16 total Emmy nominations throughout his career for his work on “Mad Men,” “30 Rock” and “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,...

Stop-motion has come a long way from the silly penguins and giant peaches of our childhood. In recent years there has been a very strong (and very welcome) push on indie stop-motion horror projects, but very few as haunting and downright gross as Robert Morgan’s new feature Stopmotion. Weaving terrifying images of puppet mayhem with live-action madness, Stopmotion dive deep into the troubled psyche of a young woman tormented by her own hand-crafted horrors.
Stopmotion stars Aisling Franciosi as a struggling stop-motion animator, working through her personal demons with her art. Genre fans will no doubt recognize Franciosi from Jennifer Kent’s sophomore feature Nightingale (2018) and more recently, André Øvredal’s Last Voyage of The Demeter (2023). Her performance here in equally as brooding and haunted, but while those previous roles saw her battling the evil of men and fabled monsters, Stopmotion turns that fight inward as her character, Ella,...

“Ultimately, this is a mystery show, grounded on characters in a world that we could believe in,” declares “Silo” creator and showrunner Graham Yost. For our recent webchat he adds, “What is real and what isn’t? Who controls the knowledge? And then the big thing for me is, why is this happening? Why are they living underground? That kept me going through the three books,” he says, adding with a knowing smile, “buy the books, but don’t read them until the entire television series is over, because we’re going to veer in some ways and stay close in others. But mostly we want to get the fun of revealing the answers to the mysteries!” Watch our exclusive video interview above.

“If you see the opening title, you see just echoes of people,” explains Morten Tyldum about the mystery that imbues every level of the behemoth silo structure that sustains thousands of human beings in a post-apocalyptic world. For our recent webchat he adds, “you see these are ghostly people walking around, and that is the idea that humanity doesn’t really matter, it is the silo that endures.” Watch our exclusive video interview above.

The Nightingale is a rare attempt to depict the brutal reality of British imperial rule. The industry must do more to tell it like it was
Jennifer Kent’s new thriller The Nightingale is a tough watch. The setting is lawless, early 19th-century Tasmania, and the opening half hour, especially, is a catalogue of violence: rape, murder, beatings, senseless slaughter, even ecological violence. The setting is lawless, early 19th-century Tasmania, and the opening half hour, especially, is a catalogue of violence: rape, murder, beatings, senseless slaughter, even ecological violence. The victims are chiefly women and indigenous people; the principal perpetrators are uniformed British soldiers. The Nightingale reminds us that Britain’s colonisation of Australia involved the killing of tens of thousands of Indigenous Australians, with at least 270 documented massacres and many more untold tales of cruelty. The film’s violence prompted walkouts when it screened in Sydney earlier this year, but Kent has maintained that it is historically accurate. “I couldn’t go into this part of our history and water it down,” she said. “Like...

The Nightingale is the eagerly anticipated follow up to Jennifer Kent’s horror debut The Babadook. Set in 1825 Australia, only half a century or so after Captain James Cook claimed it for the British, Kent unapologetically presents you with the gloomy reality of invading colonialists brutally expanding their empire off the backs of indentured convicts and knee deep in the genocidal blood of indigenous, Aboriginal Australians.
Bullish Lt. Hawkins is an ambitious pragmatist who’s lost interest in the soldiers he commands at a remote outpost of the British Empire he’s established. Played by Sam Claflin (Oswald Moseley in Peaky Blinders), he was once motivated by the promise of the Captain’s job in a bigger town up north if he knuckled down for twelve months.

In only two films, director Jennifer Kent has established herself as one of the best voices in modern film. Though her most recent film “The Nightingale” hasn’t received the rapturous reception that her debut “The Babadook” might have, the new thriller proved that Kent isn’t willing to ever take the safe route with her films and can still disturb and move audiences without a fairy tale monster.

“The Witch” director Robert Eggers is making his long-awaited return to the big screen this fall with “The Lighthouse,” starring Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe. The A24-backed psychological drama debuted to rave reviews at Cannes, where it won the Fipresci prize in Directors’ Fortnight, and will screen at the Toronto International Film Festival this month before an October theatrical release. Eggers previews the film in a new Vulture interview and is asked to weigh in on “elevated horror,” a term that pops up every time there is a serious-minded horror film that garners critical acclaim. Eggers has a hot and cold relationship with “elevated horror” and any genre label that puts his movie in a predetermined box.

The writer/director of The Babadook, Jennifer Kent, follows up the chilling horror film with a gripping drama set in 1825 Australia, a tale of violence and revenge that is almost Shakespearean. The Nightingale is a tale of vengeance but it is also a story of self-discovery, and of finding a common human bond with someone who appears at first quite different.
“Nightingale” is the nickname given to a beautiful Irish convict, Clare (Aisling Franciosi), for her golden singing voice, by the British troops at the remote Tasmanian outpost where she has served out her sentence. Clare is in the custody of British officer Lieutenant Hawkins (Sam Claflin), but she has served her sentence, and with both a husband and baby now, she wants to be released.

Earlier this month, distributor IFC Films announced it was partnering with Shout Factory for a gay pride limited edition Blu-ray release of “The Babadook,” considered one of the best horror films of the decade since its debut at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival. The special release is debuting this June in celebration of gay pride month and a portion of all proceeds will be donated to the Los Angeles Lgbt Center. While Australian director Jennifer Kent may have moved on,, Lgbt fans of “The Babadook” are keeping his memory alive.
“I’m still trying to work that one out… It’s quite perplexing,” Kent recently told EW about the status of her creation as a queer icon. “I feel it’s really quite beautiful, but I still have no idea why. … I mean, I kind of do.”
“The Babadook” stars Essie Davis as a single mother haunted by the violent death of her husband.

Jennifer Kent’s “The Babadook” has been a regular title on lists of the best horror movies ever made since it made its debut at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival, but, in the years, since the film has unexpectedly become a queer classic. It all started when the eponymous boogeyman started popping up at gay pride events in 2017. The internet turned images of the Babadook at pride events into a full blown meme, and the rest was history.
Now distributor IFC Films is taking the meme and making some good out of it. For her much-anticipated followup to her beloved “The Babadook,” filmmaker Jennifer Kent somehow managed to go even darker than her breakout horror hit, which follows a terrified mother and child going to battle with a be-hatted monster with some nefarious plans. Kent’s “The Nightingale” again centers on a mother, but this time around, Kent’s film focuses on one that has lost her child and is hellbent on avenging the violence that has consumed both of their lives.
Set during the colonization of Australia in 1825, the film follows breakout star Aisling Franciosi as Clare, a 21-year-old Irish convict who has just completed a seven-year sentence. Eager to be rid of an iron-gripped and horrifying master (Sam Claflin), who has spent the subsequent years abusing Clare in terrible ways, Clare and her husband Aidan (Michael Sheasby) attempt to break free. Arnold Schwarzenegger stars in the moody drama, Aftermath. Ryan takes a look...
The films Arnold Schwarzenegger was making at the peak of his career weren’t exactly known for their dramatic understatement, so if the likes of The Terminator and Predator are still fresh in your mind, then the Austrian Oak’s more recent appearances may seem a little jarring to you. Coming not too long after the downbeat zombie drama Maggie, Aftermath, produced by Darren Aronofsky, sees Schwarzenegger drift further into sadness and introspection - and, we have to say, he acquits himself extremely well.

In 2014, he took on the role of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in “Selma.” Currently, he is in theaters with “A United Kingdom,” which tells the story of an African prince who led his country to a new mindset in the 1950s.
Oyelowo portrays Seretse Khama, the first democratically elected president of the African country of Botswana. To get to that point, he first had to abdicate his right to ascend as king of the country, mostly because he had met and married a white British commoner (Rosamund Pike) while studying in England. Angering both his fellow countryman and the British government (who was the “protectorate” of Botswana), Khama used the exile as a strategy, and inspired his people through his call for acceptance of his situation and autonomy from colonization.

Brie Larson Calls on Hollywood to Fight For Change: ‘Artists Are the Ones That the Politicians Fear’
As Oscars weekend kicks into full swing, Hollywood plays home to a host of events honoring nominees and other industry luminaries. Officially hosted by both Wif President Cathy Schulman and Oscar winner Brie Larson, the West Hollywood event was a busy, cheery event that focused firmly on the promise of the future, even in uncertain times. A young woman suffering from a mysterious sleep disorder struggles to maintain her weakening grip on reality in Sleepwalker, an underwhelming approximation of a David Lynch-style psychological drama. After 2015’s well-received Nightingale, director Elliott Lester’s switch to more genre-oriented material comes off as overly obscure, suggesting limited art house appeal.
Following the death of her husband, Sarah Wells (Ahna O’Reilly) decides to return to her university PhD studies, but encounters frequent episodes of sleepwalking that eventually result in the police retrieving her after she wanders out on the nighttime city streets. Sarah decides to check herself into the university...

David Oyelowo, born in England to Nigerian parents, is an actor of blazing talent and rare grace. On screen, he's stirring and soulful as Martin Luther King in Selma; on HBO, he's chilling and heart-piercing as a war vet coming apart in Nightingale; on stage, doing Shakespeare, he's miraculous at capturing the stature and tragic weakness of the Moor in Othello. So to say that Oyelowo is giving one of his best and most electrifying performances in A United Kingdom – that means something. He's set the bar high.
