At this point of the show we had already grown attached to Carol and her main crew. Great! Surely the people in the office are interesting folk, but there's no way we'd grow super attached to a couple of side characters.. right?

Then boom. Carol starts learning everyone's names. Then *we* start learning everyone's names along with her. And you know what? Just like Carol, I'm slowly getting attached to these people too.

David's death catches us by surprise, and we're following the crew trying to dispose of his body. Along the way, we as an audience grow from feeling indifferent to being quite sad that David has passed. We and his coworkers may not have known him personally, but we are made known the little things he's done (always returning staplers, keeping one urinal away, etc.) and from this we grow attached to him, similar to how his coworkers feel.

Whenever I talk about this show to other people I always make it a point to convey how brilliant this show's writing is. Not only does it put you in our characters' shoes, but it subverts expectations in a tactful and seamless way that works for the overall theme of the show.

One of my personal favourite episodes of the whole show and the one I'm always excited for people to see when I'm watching with them. 10 out of 10!
