RIP Italian Comedy. We'll all miss you...
matval21 January 2014
Warning: Spoilers
This movie sets a new all time low for the already dying Italian Comedy and the Italian cinema in general. This movie isn't just bad, it's insulting, hideous and revolting. This movie is so bad that make the "cinepanettoni" (movies that are released every year under Christmas that are the epitome of bad comedy movies and bad movies in general here in Italy) look like pure gold. The premise was interesting, the subject of the so-called "Fuga di Cervelli", young Italians emigrating from Italy and immigrating to other countries to find fortune and better living conditions than in Italy is a very important theme and one of Italy's main problems nowadays where young people can't find a job anywhere. Unfortunately it was squandered by deciding to let the protagonists emigrate only BECAUSE THEY WANT TO HAVE SEX WITH AS MUCH GIRLS AS POSSIBLE AND HELP ONE OF THE PROTAGONIST HAVE SEX WITH HE GIRL HE HAS A CRUSH FOR. ARE YOU F SERIOUS?! You put sex as the main topic of a movie that is supposed to talk about such an important problem as emigration of young people from Italy?! (just like in the "cinepanettoni" where sex is the center of everything" But that's not even the worst part. The worst part is the "comedy". Yeah, that's right. I say "comedy" because this isn't actually comedy this is hell. The jokes are so bad that will make you cry, not from laughter, but from anger. The characters are not even characters, they're just a bunch of sex-obsessed, intelligence-insulting, IQ- challenging morons. Moreover this film relies entirely on two an all Italian tricks to make people laugh. The first is called "figure di merda a catena" and basically consists of putting characters in ridiculous situations that become even more ridiculous as the scene progresses (Fantozzi movies are great in this) and the other one is the so-called "tormentone" which is basically a catchy phrase that becomes the thing audience will remember the most when they think about the movie. Unfortunately all of these tricks are used really really badly, the scene where one of the protagonist is thought dead and brought in a class for a lesson about the EXPLORATION OF THE COLON(I'm sure you all know what the colon is) is a perfect example of the how badly the first trick was used and the catch phrases are: "Emilio! Eh? Sto Cazzo" (Trasl: Emilio! Eh? Suck it!" "8! 8 Cosa? Ottimismo!" (Trasl: "8!" "8 What?" "Optimism!"). AGAIN ARE YOU F SERIOUS?!

And what about the rest, well it sucks. The screenplay is terrible, the direction is completely random and uninspired, the dialogues are awful, the subplots are stupid and always sex-centered and what makes it even worse they put YOUTUBERS to act in this movie, but not any ordinary Youtubers, the worst of the worst that you can find in the Italian Youtube community.

For the love of God don't go see this movie, avoid it like plague. If you have 10 euros to spend buy a pizza or something, but not this piece of garbage they pass as comedy movie. And now a minute of silence to remember the glorious Italian comedy movies that gave us so many laughs in the past.

My vote is 1/10 but I'd give it a -10/10 if I could.

Oh I almost forgot to tell you, this movie is a remake of a Spanish movie called "Fuga de Cerebros" which is considered one of the worst movies ever made and that they copied almost every scene from the original and made it even worse....

Fuga di cervelli by Paolo Ruffini
lumieretrain14 April 2019
The comedy is one of the most popular movie genres, which some of these movies are box office hit to become important cults. The comedy can be used to balance the humor and the drama, to represent the realism on the stories in a light way. Most of these stories would end either in the good way or even in the bad way, to give at the audience some reflections about the stories they have followed. The comedy can be also used to make fun of the most popular movie genres, like the spy movies, action movies, science fiction movies, fantasy movies, horror movies, ect. To see how the main heroes would face some of the most unexpected dangers, as most of these stories use exaggerated slapstick humor to create some of the goofiest scenes. The filmmaker Paolo Ruffini has been interested to direct a comedy as his first feature movie, which is the remake of the Spanish movie Fuga de cerebros. In 2013 came out Fuga di cervelli by Paolo Ruffini, with the following cast Paolo Ruffini, Frank Matano, Guglielmo Scilla, Luca Peracino, Andrea Pisani and Olga Kent. The movie's plot: The young shy man Emilio (Luca Peracino) has been in love with Nadia (Olga Kent), since they were little children. At the moment where Emilio tries to tell Nadia his feelings on her, she tells him to have an opportunity to study at Oxford. Emilio's friends, Alfredo (Paolo Ruffini), Alonso (Andrea Pisani), Franco (Frank Matano) and Lebowski (Guglielmo Scilla), would help Emilio to get Nadia by committing a lot of funny mess, once they arrive at Oxford. It is usually really difficult to make a funny comedy movie, as the humor has to be used at the right moment, with a workable rhythm to make the people laugh. Fuga di cervelli uses the humor to be workable, which would make the audience laugh from the beginning to the end. But at the same time the movie would give some reflections about the main characters, who even they would have silly attitudes, they show to have more empathy than they look. Paolo Ruffini was really good as Alfredo who is actually blind, to commit some goofy actions in the course of the story, as he pretends he can do anything. Since Alfredo came at Oxford with his friends, he would fall in love with Claudia who is the speaker of the university. Once they would meet each other, Alfredo would find out he and Claudia have something in common. Andrea Pisani was hilarious as Alonso who walks with a wheelchair, he would only think about to flirt with any woman he encounters. Since Alonso falls in love with Karen, who is a big fan of William Shakespeare, something would change him. Frank Matano was funny as Franco who is ignorant to have less idea about culture, instead to be intellectual as his mother describes him a great intellectual son. But at the same time he would show, as well as the rest of his friends, to have a strong bond with all of them, no matter how goofy they are. Guglielmo Scilla was good as Lebowski, as it is a homage to the Dude from The Great Lebowski by the Coen brothers. He is dressed like the original Dude and he is actually a drug dealer who does not give any kind of reactions, as for his point of view everything is fine, even some goofy mess would happen. It is also the reason Lebowski is funny, as well as his mother describes him as a good person, who does not make anything bad, even she does not know the truth about him. Finally Luca Peracino did a well done performance as Emilio, who initially seems shy to not give any kind of reactions. Until at the conclusion of the story Emilio becomes much serious, as he would be the one to say all of his friends to not be anymore childish. When everything seems lost an unexpected surprise would happen, with a satisfying happy ending for all of them. Fuga di cervelli narrates the story in the easiest way, without make the story complicated, as it makes the narration workable. Paolo Ruffini managed very well the direction of the movie, to be very clear how the story has to be told from the beginning to the end. Fuga di cervelli is one of the funniest movies of all time.
