In a recent interview with Times of India, popular playback singer Neeti Mohan shared her experience of working with the multi-talented Music Director Himesh Reshammiya. Neeti has lent her versatile vocals to many of Himesh’s songs in albums such as Kick, The Xpose, Humshakals, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo and more recently in the album Sanam Teri Kasam. Speaking to Times of India, Neeti said, “Recording for the album (Sanam Teri Kasam) was actually an interesting experience. I’d sung these songs really long ago and that too, in different months. So, I had no idea they were all part of the same film. While Kheech Meri Photo is a fun number, Haal-e-Dil is melodic. Ek Number is a kind of fusion of R&B and Hip Hop. While Himesh (Reshammiya), who’s composed the album, infused some rap, he made me write as well. This has been a very creative journey.

The director of Omg, Umesh Shukla, returns to the silver screen with his latest offering All is Well. The film stars Abhishek Bachchan, Asin and Rishi Kapoor in the lead roles. The story has three twists which revolve around a father-son relationship and the way they both see the world. The music released last week and is a power packed album with big names such as Himesh Reshammiya, Mithoon Sharma, Amaal Malik and Meet Bros.
Char Shanivaar – Music by Amaal Malik, Vocals by Vishal Dadlani and Amaal Malik, Lyrics by Shabbir Ahmed, Rap by Baadshah
The album opens up with the peppy number Char Shanivaar. Possibly one of the youngest Music Directors, Amaal Malik is back with yet another foot tapping number after his previous hit ‘Sooraj Dooba Hai Yaaron’ from Roy. Riteish Deshmukh may have got recognition as an actor a little later than he should have but it's always better late than never. And why shouldn't we applaud someone who has impressed us.
The very versatile Riteish has experimented with his roles; he has tickled our funny bones and made us laugh till our stomach hurts, made us hate him when he displayed his villainous side and also fall in love with him when he was the cute lover boy!
We were taken by surprise when we saw the 'pretty' Riteish in the drag act in Apna Sapna Money Money and Humshakals. We were still coming to terms with Riteish's amazing portrayal of the feminine side and he yet again pleasantly surprised us in Ek Villain as the bad man.

Dear Tamannaah
Watching you metamorphose into to this young confident character called Avantika on screen has indeed been a satisfying moment for someone who has known you since you were in your pigtails!
From Jiya in Chand Sa Roshan Chehra in 2005 [when you were still in school] to S S Rajamouli's Bahubali, a movie that is creating a storm at the box-office all over India and an impact, worldwide, this is just The Beginning of your journey!
I understand you went to the South to cut your teeth, so to speak, and found success there early on. Himmatwala, Humshakals and Entertainment, did not really give you that impact in Bollywood that you were looking for. With Avantika, you seemed to have reignited your Box Office interest in Bollywood. I'm sure serious film-makers here, like Rajamouli in the South, will start looking at you differently. You have worked on the character you were supposed to portray and...

Sajid Khan, who last directed Humshakals, was seen at Shoojit Sircar's Piku success bash.
When asked Sajid Khan about the success of different genre of movies, he said, "The trend is of good movies. Piku is a very good film. It is earning good as well. Families are liking the movie. I liked the movie. People liked the movie. So it's a good thing."
Ask the filmmaker about his future projects and he says, "I've just finished my script. It takes a lot of time. It's a Korean film for Utv called My Girlfriend Is An Agent, which we have officially bought the rights and it took us almost 8 months to write it. Now I'm on my second draft. I'm taking one and half years to write something very nice which will not remind people of Humshakals."

Sajid Khan's last film Humshakals was a debacle and it was highly criticised by the masses and critics alike. Saif Ali Khan, who was one of the actors in the films, reportedly also went onto say that it was a mistake. But unlike the nawab, Ram Kapoor, who was also a part of the film at a recent interview said that Humshakals was one of the biggest successes in his career.
When asked him how a film like Hamshakals fits in his scheme of films, he said, "For me, Hamshakals was the biggest success in a way. The reason I said yes to Hamshakals was for a very detailed career move. Before Humshakals, I was getting a lot of scripts which were either very serious, intense, festival movies like an Udaan or small urban films, multiplexers, metro centric like Bombay-Delhi audience. Sajid Khan shared a photo of him, Ram Kapoor, Sajid Nadiadwala, Arbaaz Khan and others on a micro-blogging site from the 90s era.
He wrote, "@RamKapoor @arbaazSkhan haha..just found this in my cupboard...ram,me, nadiad,sathi n arbaaz..1998 universal studios"
Ram Kapoor starred in Sajid Khan's movie Humshakals and Sajid Nadiadwala turned a director for Arbaaz's brother Salman Khan's superhit flick Kick.
We hope the bond between the foursome Sajid Khan, Ram Kapoor, Sajid Nadiadwala and Arbaaz Khan remains intact and if the opportunity arises they do come together for a movie!

After the Humshakals debacle and the average performance of Happy Ending, Saif Ali Khan has decided to become a little more experimental with genres. Though he has often played the suave Casanova in films, his other roles in films like Ek Hasina Thi, Being Cyrus and Omkara were highly appreciated. Hence, Saif Ali Khan has decided to opt for a different strategy while choosing films and has signed a three film deal with Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Motion Pictures is a step towards it. Earlier we had reported that Saif Ali Khan will be playing the lead in the adaptation of the Japanese thriller novel 'Devotion of Suspect X', directed by Sujoy Ghosh. While it is the first film in the deal, the subjects and scripts for the other two films are yet to be finalized. From what we hear, the actor has already started preparing for the role in...

Today, I am just thinking aloud!
I haven't been able to get over the fact that the last week was a waste in movie watching. Nor have I been able to get over the fact that a movie with award-winning stars like Anupam Kher, Om Puri, Ashutosh Rana and Jackie Shroff turns out to be a joke.
Why should a viewer be subjected to films like Badmashiyaan, Dirty Politics or even Hey Bro?
Movie-watching is an expensive business and people go to get entertained. Even if a film is entertaining without being boring, the money would be well-spent, or so would the person think who went out to see the film.
But what happens when the movie turns out to be a torture worse than Sajid Khan's Humshakals? That's when you wonder why filmmakers with loads of money, dish out 'way below average' sub-standard stuff.

Each of us believes in bringing the New Year in our own special way including Director Sajid Khan who we hear began 2015 by spreading some joy. Yup!
A little birdie tells us, the director Sajid Khan started his year by secretly giving gifts to a group of young kids from a city-based Ngo. Even though his last film Humshakals may not have bagged the goodwill of the audience but it has not changed much for the generous director.
Sajid had been in touch with the Ngo authorities since a long time and decided that New Year was the best time to make a difference. We tried contacting the director but he remained unavailable for comment.
The year 2014 may not have been all that good for the director but we hope with such a good start to this year, 2015 will translate into a better year for Sajid Khan.

2014 gave many gems to adore like Queen, Finding Fanny and Haider, but for every good film there’s a Humshakals, It’s Entertainment and Action Jackson. With every editorial on the new changes in Bollywood, there’s the inexplicable popularity of duds that have Ajay Devgn loudly zipping up his trousers or Saif running around London like a dog. It’s baffling that films like Bang Bang or Kick work, but the modest failure of Humshakals had us filled with glee, maybe next year the audiences will finally give up on Sajid Khan. This year’s Razzies features some repeat offenders (looking at you Jackky!) and some newbies who should know better.

One music director who has had a wonderful year is none other than the multi-talented Himesh Reshammiya.
Himesh began the year by singing the song ‘Photocopy’ for the film Jai Ho for music directors Sajid-Wajid. This was the first time that Himesh had sung a song outside of his own compositions, that too in Gujarati and not in Hindi. The song had singer Palak Muchhal accompany Himesh on the vocals and went on to become very popular from the album!
It was then the moment that all loyal fans had been waiting for, to welcome Himesh the actor once again! More than two years after Cocktail, Saif Ali Khan is returning in a zone where he is loved most. In this light hearted set up where he can pretty much afford to be himself, Saif has the stage set for himself. This means that he can be assured of a decent enough footfalls at the least. While it is expected that the opening would be arund 50% mark, that would be good enough for the film to grow as a genre like Happy Ending can see rapid escalation over the weekend, as urban crowds settle into multiplexes.

After the disastrous Humshakals, it seems that Saif Ali Khan has now started to play safe as far as his films and onscreen characters are concerned. The film which he has reportedly signed now is called Mr. Chaalu, wherein he plays a manipulative womanizer. While the film is being produced by Excel Entertainment, it is being directed by Reema Kagti. If the reports are to be believed, then, Saif's character in the film is penciled on the lines of what he had earlier played in films like Kal Ho Na Ho, Dil Chahta Hai, and Salaam Namaste. His character is that of a smoothoperator, who, with the help of his impeccable charms, weaves his way into a woman's heart with the promise of marrying her, only to dupe her later. But the entry of the fiery and smarter-than-him Kangna Ranaut in his life changes it forever. The film is supposed...

Though she had two back to back Hindi releases in the form of Humshakals and Entertainment, she hadn't signed any new Hindi film. Hence, one wondered about her career plans ahead. However, Tamannaah Bhatia continues to be one busy girl. She is back in South shooting for as many as three films, which are in different stages of production, hence ensuring that she would be pretty much occupied for next 10-12 months at the least. One is a Telugu film Aagadu where she is opposite none other than superstar Mahesh Babu. Even bigger is her bilingual film (in Tamil and Telugu) Baahubali which is pitched as the biggest and the costliest film to be coming out of South. It is directed by S.S. Rajamouli whose Vikramarkudu and Maryada Ramanna were remade as Rowdy Rathore and Son of Sardaar while another blockbuster Magadheera is set to be made in Hindi too.

Sajid Khan's film Humshakals that received a mixed response from the audiences went on to do decent business at the box office. After the film's success, Sajid decided on taking some time off before commencing work on his next. Now we hear that Sajid Khan has been signed on by Utv to direct their next production venture. Sajid Khan, who has been rather quiet after Humshakals, confirms the development saying, "Yes I have been signed on by Utv to direct their next venture." However, when further quizzed about the details of the film, he firmly says, "Right now I am still in the process of writing the film and locking script, how can I say anything at this point." On the other hand, looking at Sajid Khan's track record, slapstick comedy has been his trademark genre. With his last release Humshakals, that featured an ensemble cast of Saif Ali Khan,...

Saif Ali Khan has said that he made a big mistake doing Sajid Khan’s Humshakals and described it as ‘a film without a script’. The 43 year old actor made the revelation to a leading Indian newspaper and said that he did not enjoy a single day on set whilst shooting for the film. “Looking back, I can see today that I didn’t enjoy a single minute spent on the Humshakals set.I only enjoyed Sajid and Riteish (Deshmukh)’s company, but that was when we weren’t shooting. I won’t blame anybody but myself for this.”
Saif also said that when he saw the final cut of the film, he questioned himself as to why he chose to sign up to a disaster of a film like Humshakals. “While watching it, I asked myself what I was doing in it. I knew I had let my fans down and underestimated their intelligence.

With the debacle of Himmatwala and mixed reactions to Humshakals, we for sure know that the 'H' factor does not work for Sajid Khan anymore. In fact one of the leading ladies of the film, Bipasha Basu backed out from the promotions of Humshakals and Esha also revealed that she would not want her father to watch that film. If that wasn't enough, now, it is Saif Ali Khan who is not only disappointed by the film but has also refused to do a film with Sajid Khan again. In an earlier interview, Saif had said that he hopes that Humshakals is one of Sajid's biggest hits but now with the flak that the movie received on its release, Saif feels that he should not be opting for films with this kind of humour. According to this Saif, he does not enjoy this kind of humour and he was...

Riteish Deshmukh has said that he would like to take on more negative roles in the future, but would not stop doing comedies. The 36 year old actor spoke on the subject to the Indian media following the critical praise which he has received for his performance in Ek Villain, which also stars Sidharth Malhotra and Shraddha Kapoor in pivotal roles. “Ek Villain is an important film because when a film of this genre and such a dark character given to me works, then probably doors to play (more) such characters will open. I hope to play characters apart from what I do in comic roles. But of course, I will do comedies.”
Riteish’s other recent release Humshakals became a surprise hit, despite the film having been heavily trashed by critics for its lousy script. Yet he has said that he will continue to take on comic roles which excite him most.

This is how things turn out for best, especially when it comes to one of the nicest people around in the industry. Riteish Deshmukh, who has seen universally positive response coming his way for a terrific act in Ek Villain, is now super charged about his next release Lai Bhaari. While the film was already hot in the trade circles, Riteish's escalated visibility in last few weeks has made the distributors and exhibitors super excited about the actor who would be seen in an action avatar. "Even though the film is in Marathi, it would now be released in certain other selected pockets of the country as well," informs our source, "There is a good chunk of Marathi speaking audience in cities like Indore, Baroda and Gwalior to name a few. Lai Bhaari would be penetrating these pockets as well." This isn't all as the film would also be arriving with English subtitles,...

As ‘Ek Villain’ came close to release, there were some givens that were already established. First and foremost, the songs, promos and some aggressive marketing had made the film super hot. Secondly, it had peaked at just the right time. Thirdly, it was all set to be take an opening of over 10 crore. Frankly, that would have even kept producer Ekta Kapoor and director Mohit Suri super happy.
However, what happened eventually turned out to be simply fantabulous, what with records being created. After all, who would have thought that the opening day of this Sidharth Malhotra-Shreaddha Kapoor-Riteish Deshmukh film would actually challenge Salman Khan’s ‘Jai’ for the opening day honors, and that too on a non-holiday release? Still, that happened, what with Friday collections of ‘Ek Villain’ falling short of ‘Jai Ho’ by just a few lakhs.
However, this was mere academic, what the weekend staying on to be superhot,...

Ek Villain is a tale of love and loss. Umm…… no! It is a thriller about a murderous psycopath. No, strike that. It is a revenge drama with loads of action thrown in. Confused? So it seems were director Mohit Suri and his team of writers. They created some interesting characters but then couldn’t figure out what to do with them.
A cold blooded murderer Guru (Sidharth Malhotra) falls in love with Aisha (Shraddha Kapoor) and decides to change his ways. Their lovingly created paradise is shattered when Aisha is brutally murdered for no apparent reason (this is not a spoiler). The murderer could be a timid middle-class man Rakesh (Riteish Deshmukh) who may also just be your friendly neighbourhood psychopath.
Aisha is murdered a few minutes into the film. The curiosity is aroused. And then the film goes into a cutesy flashback of how the lovers met and fell in love.

‘Humshakals’ has brought in moolah and what makes it special is the fact that footfalls have come in despite the worst hammering ever for a Bollywood flick. After a good weekend, the film had decent collections in the weekdays, hence resulting in around 56 crore coming in.
With the film managing to bring in audience in the most adverse of critical response, one does wonder whether collections would have been better had the backlash not been to this effect. Nevertheless, for all involved, this has turned out to be a plus outing even as they move on to their next. Saif Ali Khan, Sajid Khan and Tamannaah Bhatia can well leave behind the disappointment of ‘Bullett Raja’ and ‘Himmatwala’ whereas for Riteish Deshmukh, there has been some good all around appreciation. Esha Gupta has another film of hers collect well after ‘Raaz 3′.

As is always the case with Sajid Khan films (barring a Himmatwala), once again the critics have been ignored by the cinema audience, resulting in a good 38-39 crore (to be validated) opening weekend for his latest, Humshakals. The Saif Ali Khan, Riteish Deshmukh, Bipasha Basu, Chunky Pandey, Ram Kapoor and Tamannaah Bhatia starrer, Humshakals, has also grossed $2m during its first weekend (20 June- 22 June) from the overseas. It was an interesting phenomenon on the day when Humshakals released. Even before the interval point of the first show flashed, social media was pretty active panning the film. That, before the real audience was yet to catch the film. By afternoon, reviews were all over the town and it was obvious that there were hardly any positive words being printed.
However, it was a different story altogether, as far as the film’s collections were concerned. Whether it was multiplexes or single screens, the footfalls continued to soar and by the time Friday was through, the film had gained healthy collections of 12.5 crore. For those who still couldn’t believe that Sajid Khan’s film had actually pulled in audience, the crucial test was on Saturday. Many wondered (perhaps hoped?) that the multi-starrer with Saif Ali Khan and Riteish Deshmukh leading the charge would see a crash.

There are some movies that can be remade with current trends/technology and made to suit a new generation of viewers. Who knows, they can even be a cult classic in themselves. But to walk into a film with the byline ‘A Film Made By Sajid Khan’ is to forgo that notion and a few rights. The rights to have logic in your dictionary, the right to any real wit or sense of humour and the right to have a threshold on how much crass writing you can bear.
There is no point in making a mention of a story since there is none. In fact, films like Double Dhamaal and Rascals had more of a story than Humshakals does. Sach. Three sets of Saif Ali Khan, Riteish Deshmukh and Ram Kapoor, foreign locals, impossible situations, three beautiful ladies with no screen presence at all and a soundtrack to put you to sleep.

‘Holiday’ has crossed the 100 crore mark, hence turning out to be another century grosser of the year after ‘Jai Ho’ and ’2 States’. By the look of things, the Akshay Kumar starrer is all set to be the highest collecting film for the year so far, what with a very good second week indicating positive trending for the A.R. Murugadoss affair.
Released early this year, ‘Jai Ho’ went on to nett 116 crore with the 100 crore mark being achieved in 10 days flat. Later ’2 States’ too managed around 105 crore though it took the film 24 days to hit the century. Now with ‘Holiday’ set for a 100 crore run in 15 days flat, it is all set to cross ’2 States’ in the third weekend itself and then expect a good run in days to come.

Judging by the response the theatrical trailer of Sajid Khan’s upcoming family entertainer Humshakals has received, it seems the film is all set to deliver the fourth comic blockbuster from Sajid Khan. Sajid has been inundated by numerous calls from various laughter clubs from across the country as well as various stand-up comic gigs to screen his upcoming film.
“I am so thankful to the laughter clubs who have mailed and called me in the past few days. This also reinforces the fact that the comedy element has been well appreciated, I would love to show my film to the clubs that have approached me but blame it all on the final copy which will be out only on 16th June,” says an elated Sajid.
People have especially been praising the triple role element of the film, which shows various flavors of comedy by the three actors Saif, Riteish and Ram Kapoor.

With a good streak of comic successes behind him, Sajid Khan is now all set to ensure a good start for ‘Humshakals’. The film’s target audience is the one which lapped up ‘Housefull’ and ‘Housefull 2′, both hit films, with the latter even entering the 100 crore club. If the promos of ‘Humshakals’ are any indication, it is out and out comic element which is the strength of the film with the Usp being its three leads in a triple role. Excerpts:
