Today’s noir forecast is vice, kidnapping, murder, suicide, narcotics and a sleazy stolen baby racket! Kino’s third volume of Universal-International pix contains two seldom-screened quality urban noirs. Expect genuine dark themes in these sizable-budget location noirs filmed before Universal pulled most production back onto its one-size-fits-all backlot sets. Barbara Stanwyck dominates one show, while noir stalwarts Richard Conte and Dennis O’Keefe anchor the other two dramas, with dynamic showings by Coleen Gray, Edith Barrett, Peggy Dow, Jeanette Nolan, Meg Randall and especially Gale Storm.

Don't mess with Winona Ryder.
The 46-year-old actress' career couldn't be hotter with the rising popularity of Stranger Things, but in a recently resurfaced story from her biography, Ryder describes a time when life wasn't as glamorous. In fact, the Golden Globe winner says she was bullied so bad in middle school that she once had to get stitches.
As Ryder explains, she wore a boy-ish haircut and dressed in boy's clothes in her pre-teen years, which caused traumatic harassment for her on the third day of seventh grade at Kenilworth Junior High in Petaluma, California.

Hurricane Harvey has been devastating the Gulf Coast of Texas since Friday night, causing extreme damage to the city of Houston, which has been afflicted by over 30 inches of rain and ruinous flooding. The intense winds and drastic downpours have left many Hurricane Harvey victims displaced as parts of Southern Texas are left uninhabitable due to the flood. Perhaps the only positive outcome from this natural disaster is the way that people have been generously donating to help Houston's relief efforts. Imagine finding one of van Gogh’s early sketches for “Starry Night,” or a rough draft of Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby. For anyone who loves music, the mammoth 50th anniversary reissue of the Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band is just as good—if not better. The expanded package includes nearly two hours worth of outtakes from the groundbreaking 1967 sessions, offering not only an alternate-universe look at some of the most beloved tracks in the rock canon, but also a fascinating fly-on-the-wall view of four young artists at the height of their power.

Dubai/Exclusive: Acclaimed French actress Isabelle Huppert is in line to make her starring debut in an Arab film, playing a Morocco-born French woman in Abdellah Taïa’s The Treasure.
The $1.6m feature is one of several high-profile projects that are seeking completion funding as part of the Dubai Film Connection co-production forum. Representing the film here is Roman Paul, co-head of Razor Films, the Berlin production company involved in both Paradise Now and Wadjda.
Taïa, the Moroccan writer and filmmaker, said Huppert will play the role of the newly destitute Janine who goes in search of hidden treasure in Morocco’s Atlas Mountains, accompanied by her building’s superintendent.
“It’s a confrontation between two worlds, the Orient and the West, in a French postcolonial Morocco,” explained Taïa. This will be his second narrative feature after his adaptation of his own largely autobiographical novel Salvation Army that told the story of a gay man negotiating his way...

This holiday season, why not distract yourself from all the seething hate around you with more hate on screen? Admittedly, Terry Zwigoff’s Bad Santa is a raucous Christmas comedy that jingles my bells – but Bad Santa 2 is downright despicable. Mean-spirited, perverse and emptier than an alcoholic’s three-day-old vodka bottle. Zwigoff’s original film works a tight ensemble comedy angle, but Mark Waters’ second coming is worse than any family’s most inebriated member (even sicker than Brian Posehn’s Uncle Nick).
Imagine your drunk Uncle. Now imagine him puking on the dinner table, putting out his cigarette in the bile and then proceeding to fuck whatever cooked bird was served – in front of everyone, while laughing. Bad Santa 2 is the equivalent of that unstable mess, never living up to the sinful sentiments of 2003’s first mall-Santa heist.

Finally, something more than a jumbled-up history lesson.
In going back to 1972 in search of the missing 18 1/2 minutes of the Watergate tape, the team discovers more important information on Timeless Season 1 Episode 6. They find out what motivates Flynn, they find out more of what RIttenhouse is and unfortunately they find out they're all keeping secrets, which threatens their mission.
Let's start with Rittenhouse. According to Doc, the human registry for that group, Rittenhouse is some kind of shadowy American illuminati pulling the strings of power, and goes back to the beginning of the nation.
That sort of describes what Rittenhouse is, but what is its purpose? Obviously, if the group is using blackmail and murder as tools, it's not the Salvation Army.
Flynn started investigating Rittenhouse, particularly its involvement with Mason's time-travel research, and shortly afterward, his wife and daughter were killed and he was framed for their murders and went into hiding.

Willie T. Soke, Billy Bob Thornton's irredeemable crook of a Santa, is back after a 13-year hiatus. But in the extremely Nsfw new trailer for Bad Santa 2, he'll get a run for his foulmouthed money from none other than ... his own mama.

Ross started the segment with Kimmel fan-favorite, Guillermo, admiring the security guard-turned-sidekick's tiny office and remarking, "Wow it's like Trump built a wall around just you." Then, after needling one of Kimmel's writing assistants ("Jimmy, this guy's watching James Corden"), Ross laid into the boss himself: "Oh look great, tonight's monologue," Ross cracked, holding up...

Deadpool? Who the heck is Deadpool? What the heck is a Deadpool?
That’s Deadpool? Looks like he’s wearing a costume that Spider-Man gave to the Salvation Army. Superhero, huh? With his own movie. It made how much? A hundred and thirty-five million dollars opening weekend? American money?
Yeah, I didn’t see Deadpool coming either. Oh sure, I caught some of the television commercials, but nothing on the screen made me want to plunk down the price of admission. I thought that maybe I’d watch it on cable, maybe some night after Marifran’s crashed. Or maybe we’d watch it together. Some time. Maybe.
Deadpool is not exactly a household name, like Superman or Spider-Man. Despite a connection with the über-popular X-Men, I doubt that Deadpool has penetrated the public consciousness – or at least he hadn’t, before all those TV ads.
Now? Bet the mortgage...

4.2 Some Conscience Lost
If Edmund Reid thought his transition back to his old life at Lehman Street was going to be an easy one, he was sadly mistaken, as he discovers in the opening to Some Conscience Lost. After a boy dies in his arms and a distraught woman tries to claim the boy as her son, Reid finds himself battling the newly bureaucratic policing system as well as his former sergeant, Drake, who wants him to investigate a spate of victims having their right hands chopped off in Whitechapel. Drake is too busy trying to track down the murderer of a Salvation Army captain to worry about either, whilst Jackson is maintaining his drunken pretence of grieving for the still-very-alive Susan,...
