"Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Angel" star Charisma Carpenter spent her 44th birthday in her birthday suit this year -- and put those half her age to shame! The actress, who currently hosts Investigation Discovery's "Surviving Evil," stopped by toofab's offices earlier this week, where we just had to ask about the photo that almost broke Twitter."I think a majority of us women in Hollywood, especially in our 40s, we start to feel or are made to feel like you're not relevant anymore or you're not sexy or you're not sellable," she tells toofab's Brian Particelli. "I felt great and I'm like, '44 is rad, I feel really good about myself. I work hard and if the 20 year olds are posing and doing it, why can't I?'"She says the photo -- taken by photographer Jake Bailey -- was a long time coming, and she's more than happy with the final product.

Carpenter tweeted two bikini selfies Sunday, revealing her rock-hard abs and incredibly toned physique while posing in an animal-print two-piece. "#workhard #earnit #ownit. Pft! 43 is fine with me! ❤" she wrote.

"Surviving Evil" isn't the only true-crime show on television. But it may be the only one that focuses on those who survived violence and tells the story from the survivors' point of view. Three of those survivors participated in a presentation for the TCA press tour.
One of the most interesting parts of this show is that it is hosted by Charisma Carpenter ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer," "Angel") -- and that she herself is a survivor of a violent crime. She was attacked as a teen and held at gunpoint before escaping and then leading the police to the criminal.
Two other survivors -- Teri Jendusa Nicolai and Lisa McVey -- accompanied Carpenter on the presentation stage. Nicolai survived an attack by her ex-husband, while McVey survived a kidnapping by a serial killer. The women's rather harrowing stories are all featured in "Surviving Evil."

Charisma Carpenter said that her new docu-series for Investigation Discovery, "Surviving Evil," -- which premieres Aug. 28 -- aims to inspire viewers, and suggests it could inspire other networks. Two decades ago, The "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Angel" alum survived a violent attack and helped to put the man away. "Surviving Evil" shares similar stories of women (and at least one guy) who had fought back in their own way against their attackers. Carpenter wasn't sure what the official advice from law enforcement would be in cases of being attacked, but...
