Disappointing vehicle for Williamson
lotekguy-123 November 2021
Some good fights and shootouts scattered among a whole lotta nothing. Minimal, yet still ambiguous, plot; stiff acting from mostly unknown cast; illogical actions for a bunch of experienced combat dudes. For example - they've got limited time to be exposed to radiation while on mission in this location before it threatens their lives. After killing the first wave of attackers who wore hazmat suits with gas masks, why didn't they snap up the protective gear from those bodies? Even worse, the ending dangles a sequel that likely will never be made. Nor should it, based on this whiff at an action flick.

I was expecting caves!
Aaron13757 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This film boasts of a movie where a group of soldiers has to fend off Nazis in caves...well there is one tunnel that is obviously not much of anything new from what we see through most of the film so no, there are no caves to speak of. No payoff either as the movie kind of just ends, taunting a sequel. The film has a couple of good action sequences, but the film basically uses the same place the entire time as our heroes die quite easily to the point knife throwing dude literally gets to show off his skill one time before he is shot dead!

The story, it goes a little something like this, Fred Williamson who is over 80 is rounding up people Nick Fury style to try and secure some sort of device that is none of our business because we only get to see the lights it produces. He gets karate instructors, a Texan who uses hopelessly outdated weapons, a knife throwing guy who I am sure is usually amazing (we hardly knew ye), super fat Quentin Tarantino and camouflage preacher or priest or whatever. Their opponent, a group of faceless men in radioactive gear because unlike the heroes, they are at least smart enough to wear equipment in Chernobyl!

Stars are few and far between as I know Fred Williamson and Lorenzo, but the rest are a bunch of people with horrible accents. The female instructor's is the worst as I would have kept her lines to a minimum. The elite team does pretty well, but they lose way more people to death than they should as most of them die kind of stupidly or avoidably and still not sure what happened to cowboy, my guess is, he shot himself reaching for his booze...

So, there are good action scenes but there is too many scenes of dialog in this thing. They made the plot more complicated than it need be, just should of been retrieve something and get out without the tease for a sequel I am sure never materialized. I also would be embarrassed if I was fat Quentin and knife guy as they get killed so quickly and easily while an 80 year old man survives the whole ordeal!

Bored inside a social housing complex, somewhere in some east-Germany inner city , a group of unknown actors must band together to fight for another paycheck.
alex13-358-82616128 December 2016
ATOMIC EDEN is a film that delivers exactly what is expected, nothing at all. It proudly displays it's digital home-video Z-movie roots on it's sleeve and takes off running. Even though the majority of "actors" are complete unknowns, there are a few familiar faces who will most certainly make some wonder "Didnt I see this guy somewhere?..Maybe yes". Unknown German martial arts star Mike Moller could easily bury any future career with this. His fight choreography is nothing short of actually not bad and at least helps to set screenshots from ATOMIC EDEN as a wallpaper. Even though his role is just a few frames and seconds, DTV regular Lorenzo Lamas reminds us just how desperate for a paycheck he truly is. If you're anything like me, then the presence of Fred "The Hammer" Williamson top-billed should be all you need to think twice before watching it. After spending years in doing cameos, Williamson is front and center and even well into his seventies, there's no question that you will start kicking yourself halfway through the movie for starting it.

The rest of the "cast" wouldn't be able to act their way out of an elevator. Each character on the team has no talents whatsoever which is fun watching when you are drunk. When they all work together, each person actually needs to be there and are an important part for you understanding how much time you already wasted. The unknown actors look embarrassed and most likely closed their FB pages long ago - and who wouldn't. Everett Ray Aponte, Dominik Starck, Josephine Hies, Nico Sentner (who also co-wrote and directed - on his smartphone), Wolfgang Riehm (who likes to get paid), and Hazuki Kato (starring in Muppets Most Wanted) give the picture personality and confusion. The film is cheap, face-palm-slap-inducing, and a damn poor idea of wasting time.

It can sometimes be easy for producers to hype their Z-movie by fake reviews for whatever reason. The fact is, B-movies are supposed to be fun while Z grade home-video films are supposed to steal your time & money. Nico Sentner's ATOMIC EDEN steals both and in spades. Get a lobotomy and have a good time with this joke of a new entry in the Z-Action film pantheon.

****** After reading the first "review" on here, couldn't resist to put some things into perspective. This is not a b-movie, its a z-movie, ultra low budget shot on really poor digital cameras. Williamson did some good b-movies before, and this Moller guy seems to be a good martial arts artist, but this whole movie is an insult to b-movie fans. I think its possible to make better movies on the latest iPhone these days.

Finding the Doomsday Device or else!
svqwgccc11 February 2022
Atomic Eden is one of the best action movies I have seen in a while! The stunts were outstanding, story line concept excellent. Finding the doomsday device no matter what the cost. They gave there lives for the sake of humanity. If you like non stop action, this is the movie to see. Conventional fighting and Karate scenes. Fred and his co-stars did not miss a beat! If you are a Hammer fan, this is a must see!

Surprisingly good B movie.
jzimmermann-2181613 February 2022
I was stumbling over Atomic Eden by accident. I didn't know much about it before I watched it on Amazon Video. This film turned out to be a pleasant surprise.

Don't get me wrong, this film is far away from being perfect, but if you are searching for an old school type of action B movie. You will have a lot of fun watching Atomic Eden. Watching this particular movie is like getting in a time machine and taking a trip back to 1985 or 1990 when over the top action flicks like this were the norm.

A truly great homage to Assault on Precinct 13
pepittos11 February 2022
First of all Atomic Eden is not a movie which will win an Academy Award. However, if you are like me and you are fan of John Carpenter movies, especially "Assault on Precinct 13" you will enjoy and appreciate this film a lot! Besides that, Atomic Eden is bullet riddled and bone smashing love letter to the glorious time when video stores still ruled the world. You'll read many reviews for this movie where people will dismiss this as trash but I'm here to say that this film wasn't made for people like that. It was made for the people who live and breath action and can't get enough of it. Look past the flaws and know that this is indie action filmmaking on a budget and you'll have a good time. It pretty much should call out to any fan who grew up watching any of the epics that Cannon Films put out back in the day.

One of the best movies ever made!!!
chrismdicus27 January 2022
This movie is of course terrible. It's like these directors make a half-assed effort on purpose. Seriously there's more thought and preparation put into a teenagers TikTok video. But rest assured there is a light at the end of the tunnel. If it wasn't for movies like these RiffTrax would have nothing to riff on. Get the RiffTrax version of the his movie... You'll thank me?

Trapped inside an old mining complex, somewhere in the ruins of Chernobyl, a group of international mercenaries must band together to fight an army of mad men.

ATOMIC EDEN is a film that delivers exactly what is expected, nothing more or nothing less. It proudly displays it's B-movie roots on it's sleeve and takes off running. Even though the majority of actors are relative unknowns, there are a few familiar faces who will most certainly attract an audience. German martial arts star on the rise Mike Moller could easily become the next big thing. His fight choreography is nothing short of stellar and helps to set ATOMIC EDEN apart from the rest of the pack. Even though his role is more like an extended cameo, DTV superstar Lorenzo Lamas reminds us just how solid of an actor he truly is. If you're anything like me, then the presence of Fred "The Hammer" Williamson should be all you need to make this film essential viewing. After spending years it seems in small parts or doing cameos, Williamson is front and center and even well into his seventies, there's no question that he could still kick your ass.

The rest of the cast does very well in their respective roles. Each character on the team has their own specialty which is always fun. When they all work together, each person actually needs to be there and are an important part in fulfilling their plan. The lesser known actors are obviously having fun hamming it up in the film and who wouldn't. Everett Ray Aponte, Dominik Starck, Josephine Hies, Nico Sentner (who also co-wrote and directed), Wolfgang Riehm (who is fantastic), and Hazuki Kato (a beautiful badass) give the picture personality and diversity. The film is tight, action-packed, and a damn good time.

It can sometimes be easy for critics to rip a B-movie apart for whatever reason. The fact is, B-movies are supposed to be fun. B grade action films are supposed to deliver the action. Nico Sentner's ATOMIC EDEN delivers both and in spades. Let loose and have a good time with this thrilling new entry in the B-Action film pantheon.

Great movie
amitabha-9380821 December 2021
I've known Nico, who produced this movie, for half my life now. I helped him from his beginnings and I know a few things. He's dedicated to the art. Old-school action movies. And that's what he did with Atomic Eden. Realize he refrained from using CGI except for one part of the movie?

Spare e the yammering about the thin story or about poor dialogues. You have to see the big picture, which is, in the end, a finely done product.

And not to forget: He was able to recruit a fine cast.

Now ask yourself: Would you be able to produce something better with the given funds? I guess not.

It's a great and classy movie - Come on, it has Fred Williamson! And not to forget, bewitchingly performing Hazuki Kato.

An indie action fireworks that actually delivers above expectations
SlasherFan198221 July 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I have seen this film at the Haapsalu Horror and Fantasy Festival. Atomic Eden was clearly one of the festival highlights among the audience. I enjoyed watching it very much, even so it was no horror. The film is fast-paced, action packed with a great story and some of the best martial arts scenes I've seen in a long time.

Basically the story can be described as a mix between Predator (the first one) and Assault on Precint 13, just without any creature. You can clearly tell, that first time director Nico Sentner must be a huge fan of John Carpenter's early work as well as of the action classics from the 80's and 90's.

At the end of WWII the Nazis created a secret weapon so powerful, in case if Hitler lost the war, the fuehrer will push the button and destroy the whole world. However this Doomsday Device is lost and forgotten during the war, sleeping somewhere hidden in bunker system underneath Chernobyl. Present Day: a group of 8 mercenaries is being recruited from all over the world. Everyone of them is an expert in his or her field. They are hired to take out a mysterious cargo from the underground of Chernobyl. It doesn't take long after they have arrived on site before they get attacked by an army of 800 men and it becomes an Alamo scenario with 8 fighting against 800 to save mankind.

Each of the mercenary characters is very unique and likable. My favorite characters are DARWIN - the Texan (played by an amazing new comer named Everett Ray Aponte), HEINRICH - the Priest and David - the fighter. The last one delivers the most amazing Martial Arts you can imagine. I wouldn't be surprised if Mike Möller, the guy who played David the fighter will become the next big thing in the genre. Very much like Scott Adkins or Michael J. White. He can easily be compared to fighters like Tony Jaa. But also, all the other action with gunfights, shoot-outs and explosions are well done with no crappy CGI, which gives the film a lovely "Old School Action" feeling. I haven't seen Fred Williamson for ages in a good leading action role. STOKER the leader was his first memorable starring role in an action flick since Original Gansters or From Dusk till Dawn back in the day. He did good in Atomic Eden and delivers a prove that at 77 he can still kick ass and kill the bad guys while smoking a cigar. Just the whole chemistry between Fred and Mike is worth watching the film. Lorenzo Lamas is co-starring as the main villain at the end but his role can be described more as an extended cameo. The rest of the lead cast ranges from good to decent. Except for the Japanese actress Hazuki Kato, even so, she looks extremely gorgeous and she can also fight Martial Arts well enough, her acting is only mediocre. But that doesn't stop producers from casting her in action films. I have seen her so far in bigger roles in FALCON RISING with Michael J. White, BALLISTICA with Paul Logan & Martin Kove as well as of course in ATOMIC EDEN. It seems to me that nobody cares if the hot girl in an action flick can act or not. Maybe its just me.

In the end, I must say, I was very much entertained the whole way through the film and I hope to see more films like that being made by the director.

Better than I expected.

I enjoyed this movie and am going to watch it again with the hubby. Just watch it. You won't be disappointed. I was intrigued by the storyline and the oddball characters. Everyone needs to see this and take in the action scenes.

Thrilling Action Movie
info-630-3870267 March 2023
A very entertaining and successful action film with great actors and great fights. The special effects are also well done. This is really a film that you should definitely watch. It is not only classic successful genre cinema, but also up-to-date and keeping up with the times in its subject matter. Nico Sentner succeeds in inspiring his audience. I especially like the diversity of the cast and also the openness to homosexuality. Absolutely great actors are included, in particular Everett Ray Aponte and Fred Williamson. Definitely a great film, very well done! I always recommend this film. I love it.

Surprisingly good Action Movie with cool Oneliners and a lot of references to classic 80s Actionmovied
ration_erweiternm11 January 2023
I found this movie by chance on Amazon and decided to give it a try - and wasn't disappointed.

ATOMIC EDEN delivers exactly what you think: some interesting characters exploring an abandoned industrial complex full of gasmask wearing minions, a lot of shooting and fighting and the Charme of the good old action movies from the late 80s.

Mike Moller as the fighter is a very talented young martial artist, and no surprise his role is one of the best, followed by the Hammer who is a veteran in slightly grungy and independent movies.

If you are interested in some simple but good action and a wide variety of characters with different abilities and strength, ATOMIC EDEN is what you are looking for.

I had fun with this movie and would recommend it to my friends.

"The Hammer" is back
sschwenk-257531 September 2022
This is a movie that brings back the charm of the 90s action movies. It's also a tribute, to the direct-to-DVD movies of those days that always featured a big star. Fred "The Hammer" Williamson has been successfully cast here as well. I was also very happy to see Mike Möller, who is currently traveling all over the world and is now involved in Hollywood films. Atomic Eden has no lengths and is well timed. It is remarkable what has been achieved on a tiny budget. Wonderful fun for an evening. Best get the mediabook, which has beautiful cover artworks. In the booklet you can read a lot about the production history.
