Komisario (Inspector) Frans J. Palmu is an extremely popular character in Finnish culture. The gruff, Helsinki police detective created by author Mika Waltari starred in three novels and four films. The first film in the series was voted the greatest Finnish film of all time in 2012.
The title of the film translates into English as 'The stars are not right'. This parodies the famous quote from Lovecraft's work that Cthulhu will rise again from his watery tomb when 'the stars are right'.
The title is also a parody of the title of the 1962 Inspector Palmu film "Tahdet kertovat, Komisario Palmu" which has been translated into English as both 'The stars will tell, Inspector Palmu' and 'It is written in the stars, Inspector Palmu'.
