Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper filmed scenes for the ‘A Star is Born’ remake at Coachella.

However, something interesting happened last weekend. It’s not Hans Zimmer playing a psychedelic set though that was pretty impressive.

Within the BBC’s gorgeous documentary series, “Planet Earth II,” there are plenty of new elements to admire — and the show is eager to share. Narrator David Attenborough, sitting in a hot air balloon above snow-drenched mountaintops, checks off each general advancement during the pilot:
The filmmakers were able to get incredibly close to each animal thanks to innovative remote cameras. Further advancements in technology also meant discovering previously unobtainable “wildlife dramas.” We can see, hear, and admire these dramas better than ever, with clearer, brighter, and more comprehensive photography than has been possible prior to this.
Better yet, the progress Attenborough heartily expounds is more than evident on screen. Covering islands, mountains, jungles, deserts, grasslands, and cities, “Planet Earth II” literally covers a lot of ground in its seven episodes (the final episode is a “making of”), always with an eye toward beauty and our quickly changing environments. Impossible sights are enticingly strung together,...

It’s been a decade since the original “Planet Earth” became a cultural event on TV, thanks to its stunning filmmaking and unparalleled access to the natural world. Since then, the team has surpassed its previous efforts to capture footage for “Planet Earth II,” thanks to innovations in technology and good old-fashioned human tenacity.
Being able to observe the natural world is not as easy as sending out a cameraman to just point and shoot. Elusive snow leopards are rare and avoid humans, soaring birds spiral up and down heights with dizzying speed, some predators are too dangerous to get near, many prey animals are too skittish to hang around humans, and some animals — such as a massive population of penguins that rule a remote island — are simply too difficult to access because of the unfriendly terrain.

will.i.am was left embarrassed after he accidentally turned his chair around on 'The Voice' on Saturday night (30.01.16). The Black Eyed Peas singer was busy doodling during 21-year-old bouncer Alaric Green's performance of 'Broken Vow' and managed to hit his button but covered up any potential awkwardness by insisting it must have been fate. He said: ''I think the Lord works in mysterious ways. I think it's like, yo, I mean, dang, if there was ever a ghost that went boo and your hand hit the button.'' However, Alaric decided to choose Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson, who also turned his chair for...

“Score: A Film Music Documentary” has surpassed its Indiegogo fundraising goal. The film explores the power of film and TV music as an art form and delves into the creative and technical process of scoring a movie to create an emotional response in audiences. Over 50 people — from composers to directors to film critics — have been interviewed for “Score,” which sets out to be the first feature-length documentary about film scores. Among the participants in the project are Hans Zimmer, James Cameron, Danny Elfman, “Battlestar Galactica” composer Bear McCreary and “The Social Network” duo Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. Fans of those composers gave the doc an overwhelming response in its fundraising campaign. After last year’s successful Kickstarter campaign in March, the current Indiegogo campaign that’s raising final funds for the film has taken in over $57,000, well surpassing its $30,000 goal. Film score geeks can see the movie when it...

Terrific or terrible twos? Whatever it is, Fergie is about to find out! As the former Black Eyed Peas singer continues to work on her new solo album, Mrs. Josh Duhamel made plenty of time to celebrate her son's second birthday Saturday afternoon. In a rare Instagram post, the "L.A. Love" crooner showed just how stylish her son has become as she shared a candid shot of Axl. "Happy 2nd bday to my little maverick Axl Jack Duhamel," she wrote on social media. "#imtwofoo." It's specifically designed to make viewers weak in the knees and unable to suppress an "Awwwww" while held in its thrall. (Resistance is futile.) It's the art of manufacturing mass-produced, all-consuming Pop Culture Cuteness — and it's huge business.

Composer James Horner tragically died last month, leaving behind a legacy of incredible work ranging from "Aliens" and "Titanic" to "Braveheart" and "A Beautiful Mind". At the time it was thought that Antoine Fuqua's boxing drama "Southpaw" opening this week, along with the Chilean miner drama "The 33" opening in November, were his last remaining works.
Today though, Fuqua has revealed to NPR (via Movies.com) that there's one last Horner score still to come which we'll see next year - the score for Fuqua's upcoming western remake "The Magnificent Seven". It's surprising news considering the film is still well in the midst of shooting, but it turns out Horner didn't need to see the footage to craft the music:
"James was an incredible human being. He was a filmmaker through and through. He was one of the most gentle people I've ever met. Even the way he spoke was very soft and thoughtful.

Though Horner died last month, aged 61, in a plane crash in California, his music lives on in not one, but two Antoine Fuqua films. As revealed in a recent NPR interview for Fuqua's "Southpaw," which Horner scored, it turns out the late composer also wrote the score for Fuqua's now-filming "Magnificent Seven" remake starring Chris Pratt, Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke. And Fuqua said that Horner paid his "Southpaw" music crew out of his own pocket. Read More: Remembering Oscar-Winning Film Composer James Horner "He called me on a Saturday after he watched [Southpaw], and I said 'I don't have any money,' because it wasn't a big budget movie. And he said to me. "I love the movie. I love the father-daughter relationship. Don't worry about the money, I'm just going to do it," Fuqua told NPR. "And he did it for nothing. He paid his crew out of his own pocket.

Well if this doesn't put a lump in your throat, or speak to the good that can be found in humanity, I'm not sure what will. Speaking with NPR, Southpaw director Antoine Fuqua had some touching words when it came to the late film composer James Horner who passed away last June in a plane crash. The Oscar-winning composer's work will be heard in Fuqua's Southpaw this Friday and in The 33 later this year, but that's not the end of it. Fuqua will turn his attention next to a remake of The Magnificent Seven and while he hasn't shot the film yet he reveals to NPR he already has a score: "James was an incredible human being. He was a filmmaker through and through. He was one of the most gentle people I've ever met. Even the way he spoke was very soft and thoughtful. He was magical. He...

Though James Horner died tragically last month, it appears he left at least one score in addition to those we knew about still waiting to be heard by the world. According to Southpaw director Antoine Fuqua – who worked with the composer on the boxing film – he was astonished to learn that Horner wrote another entire score for his next film, a new version of The Magnificent Seven."James was an incredible human being," Fuqua tells NPR’s All Things Considered. "He was a filmmaker through and through. He was one of the most gentle people I've ever met. Even the way he spoke was very soft and thoughtful. He was magical. He had this childlike wonderment in his eyes, but he was an amazing artist, an amazing poet. I loved him and we became friends. James was a family man. He loved his children. He called me on a Saturday after he watched Southpaw,...

One of the best events of the year, the annual Oscar Nominees Luncheon ran nearly three hours today at the Beverly Hilton. But it looked to me that no one wanted to leave when it ended. The mingling factor here, both during cocktail hour and when it was done, was epidemic. Next to the AFI Awards Luncheon, this is the one event surrounding the awards-season circus that actually is civilized and where everyone is a winner. More than 150 nominees from sound editors to superstars were democratically spread throughout the Hilton’s large ballroom as the Oscar show’s marketing slogan — “Imagine What’s Possible” — for the February 22 ABC broadcast was flashed on large screens over the stage. You have to think that that these contenders believe anything is possible, and just in case, they’d better start working on those 45-second acceptance speeches. And the importance of an appearance here can’t be underestimated,...
