- "Ray Donovan"- "Bucky Fuckin' Dent" - Sept. 15, 2013
All kinds of fresh hell is breaking loose this week.
Ray has installed Avi in his house to protect Abby and the kids since Sully is on the warpath.
But before he can deal with that he has bigger fish to fry: Bunchy, last seen contemplating a big jump, instead decided to confront Father Danny and--accidentally-- shot him.
He drags the bloodied priest to the gym where Terry was busy getting busy with Frances. She's a nurse so she helps stop the bleeding and bandages the wound but points out that he will die from shock if they don't get him to a hospital soon. Ray --called in by Terry-- shoos her off and Terry promises they will do the right thing.
Instead they keep the priest at the gym-- cleaning up the bloody trails that Bunchy left behind on the walls and floors bringing him in-- and contemplate their next move. All Bunchy really wants is an apology but the priest keeps insisting that he doesn't know him or their family.
Meanwhile, the police have come to visit Mickey. He had just finished collecting up Rosanna Arquette's things when they knock. They ask about Sean Walker. Mickey claims to have loved him and mentions his "overall deal" with the actor to make several movies. They ask about his whereabouts the night before and he says he was at Fite Nite at the club. But when they ask if he was there all night he says he stepped out to be with a lady. They say they need to talk to this lady before the day is through. So Mickey calls Claudette and asks for her help. She notes that her husband was out of town the night before so whose to say she didn't meet him? He thanks her. She says she owes him for getting her out of Boston, out of trouble and giving her cash, she is happy to do it. They dance and reminisce but before things can get physical she leaves.
Ezra--holding Sean Walker's baby which they need to do something with-- points out to Ray that things have only gotten worse and they have to take care of Mickey. So he puts pressure on Frank the FBI agent to finally show the insane video of Van on LSD to his boss. Frank is told to bring Van in.
Although Connor is enjoying hanging out with Avi-- playing videogames and hearing about his days in the Mossad-- Abby is annoyed that she is being held prisoner in her own house and not being told why by either Ray or Avi. She gets fed up and heads to the gym to confront Ray.
Meanwhile at the gym, they turn away Pie but then Daryll shows up who they promptly put to work cleaning up the blood in the gym. Bunchy explains he just wanted to talk to the priest but then the gun went off. Ray calls Lena and tells her to find Bunchy's bike and canvas the neighborhood for witnesses and then they wait.
Terry worried about the priest dying and Bunchy going to jail offers to go to jail in his place and saying he shot him. Ray isn't having that and says no one's going to prison.
What it all boils down to is that Bunchy simply wants an apology, for the priest to acknowledge what he did to him, that he told him that taking his penis into his mouth was like taking the host into his mouth.
Lena arrives and reports the bike was stolen and there are no witnesses. Ray gives her the gun and thanks her for her help as the priest calls out for help upstairs.
Ray tells the priest that they will take him to the hospital if he apologizes but he continues to refuse. Ray goes ballistic on him and Bunchy and Terry pull him into Terry's room. Bunchy sadly says that they're must be something in him that brought this on him that Father Danny was nice to him a lot of the time taking him fishing and to games and perhaps it was his fault. Ray claims it was his fault because one time he went to meet Mickey at Fenway and he blew him off--during a famous game with Bucky Dent-- Ray came home and saw Father Danny leaving and he could tell what he had done to Bunchy by the look in his eyes. Ray says he should've taken care of him. Terry and Bunchy assure him it wasn't his fault.
They go back to the priest and try to continue to force an apology. He relents somewhat saying he cared for their family, their mother who was left by their father and that he had a problem and he did things that were inappropriate. He claimed to have loved children but said they they could be seductive in their innocence. He notes he was never violent and that he was punished, sent to two years of treatment and .chemically castrated to kill the compulsion. But he still refuses to apologize instead asking if Bunchy forgave him..Abby arrives. She surveys the scene and says she'll wait for Ray at home...
The priest now truly in dire straits claims he won't tell since he has caused their family enough pain.Ray says he'll take him to the hospital alone. The priest becomes alarm realizing if they go alone Ray will kill him. Terry and Bunchy say he won't but then the priest says "They don't know do they? You never told them? Ray I loved you." And Ray shoots him in the head before the priest can explicitly state the obvious: he abused Ray too and that's why he felt guilty for not protecting Bunchy and knew the look in his eye. Bunchy admits that he's glad the priest is dead and notes he didn't think he would be.
Daryll and Ray dispose of body on the site of Ezra's building for Ruth.
Frances the nurse returns and asks Terry which hospital they took the priest to. Terry blanches.
Avi takes the kids to a hotel.
Ray returns home where.Abby has packed a bag to leave too. She asks about the priest and if he was the one who abused Bunchy. Rays confesses that it wasn't just Bunchy. She tears up and reaches for him but won't let her touch him and tells her to leave. He sits down with a bottle.
Frank the FBI agent finds Van's body and assumes Ray killed him and calls Ray and says he's going to take him down.
