On Saturday, April 20, the actress attended the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books Event at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles where she was asked by Erica D. Smith to share how such experience helped shape her life.
According to Kerry, that experience was one out of many instances where the truth was withheld from her. Her statement was a reference to a part of her book where she shared that she only found out that her father Earl Washington wasn...

I can almost imagine Out of Darkness’ director Andrew Cumming pitching the film to potential backers as Quest for Fire meets Predator. Charlize Theron may be a huge movie star in Hollywood, but at home she's just Mom to her two daughters. The 48-year-old actor has two adopted children and seems to be nailing single parenthood.
Theron is known for a wide variety of movies, some more kid-friendly than others. (It'll probably be a while before she can show her kids her iconic performances in "Monster" or "Mad Max: Fury Road.") In 2022, she starred in a more kid-friendly feature with "The School For Good and Evil," appearing alongside Kerry Washington. The movie follows two best friends who wind up attending a school that trains fairytale heroes and villains, and it's based on a children's fantasy novel.
As it turns out, that was one of the film's main draws. "The biggest driver for me was that it potentially could be something that my kids would enjoy," Theron told Harper's Bazaar in September 2022. Filming...

Veteran filmmaker Paul Feig donated $100,000 to the Motion Picture and Television Fund’s Community Care Fund, TheWrap has learned. The money will help Southern California members of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) as the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA labor strikes against the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers have created financial challenges for below-the-line workers.
The writers have been on strike since May 2. The actors joined them on the picket line July 14. This rare dual action has mostly brought Tinseltown to a standstill, and, as Feig told TheWrap, it’s a time when striking laborers and the Hollywood community at large should be looking out for “those caught in the crossfire.”
“As filmmakers and storytellers, we are nothing without our crews and all of the support personnel who make it possible for us to create our movies and series,” Feig said. “As an industry,...

The Motion Picture and Television Fund’s Community Care Fund is getting a six-figure assist from Paul Feig.
The filmmaker has donated $100,000 to the fund to help support Southern California members of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) that have been affected by Hollywood’s dual strikes. Members of the Writers Guild of America went on strike May 2 over an ongoing labor dispute with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP). Members of SAG-AFTRA joined the picket lines on July 14, causing a widespread work stoppage in Hollywood.

New Delhi, Aug 31 (Ians) Google on Thursday expanded its generative AI search experience in India and Japan, the first countries outside the US.
The new AI-powered search feature, dubbed Sge (Search Generative Experience), will be available through Google’s Search Labs in these markets and will introduce a new feature aimed at making it easier to find information in its AI-powered overviews.
“This week, we launched Search Labs in the first countries outside the US — India and Japan — enabling people to opt into Sge to help them better understand topics faster, uncover new viewpoints and insights and get things done more easily,” Google said in a blogpost.
Sge, which was first announced at this year’s Google I/O Developer conference in May, adds a conversational mode to Google Search, allowing you to ask Google questions about a topic and have it respond with answers, similar to an AI chatbot.

Sky has released the official trailer and announced the UK broadcast date of ‘Domina’ Season II with new episodes dropping weekly as double bills on Sky Atlantic and Now from 13th September 2023.
The historical drama series takes place during one of the most provocative and turbulent periods in Roman history. The series follows the extraordinary rise of Gaius Octavius, who became the first Emperor of Rome as Caesar Augustus, and his third wife, Livia Drusilla.
‘Domina’ chronicles the struggle for control of the Roman Empire, and of Rome’s Imperial Family, from a rare female perspective. In its first season, Livia Drusilla (Kasia Smutniak), the golden girl of the prominent Claudii family, returned to Rome after 10 years in exile, determined to regain everything that was stolen from her. When she married Gaius – Caesar Augustus (Matthew McNulty) – she was seated at the top of a fractious empire and a dysfunctional dynasty.

Exclusive: Shadow and Bone star Kit Young is part of the Season 1 cast of FX’s Alien series, sources tell Deadline. Additionally, I hear filming in Thailand has been suspended due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, and the cast was sent home Friday. According to sources, the break was planned as the show’s production schedule was adjusted to account for the SAG-AFTRA work stoppage. Crew members are still working, and sets are still being prepared for when shooting resumes after the end of the strike, sources said.
I hear Young was a late addition who joined Alien after the bulk of the main cast, led by Sydney Chandler, was set, including Alex Lawther as a soldier named Cj, Samuel Blenkin as Boy Kavalier, a CEO, as well as Essie Davis as Dame Silvia and Adarsh Gourav as Slightly. San Francisco, Aug 16 (Ians) Google’s AI-powered Search Generative Experience (Sge) is getting a major new feature, which will summarise articles for users while reading on the web.
Currently, the feature — “Sge while browsing” is in the experiment phase.
“When you’re trying to understand the ins and outs of a new topic, you often need to digest long or complex web pages, and it’s not always easy to hone in on specific details. So starting today, we’re launching an early experiment in Search Labs called “Sge while browsing”, available in the Google app on Android and iOS, and coming to Chrome on desktop in the days ahead,” Google said in a blogpost on Tuesday.
If users have access to the Google app on mobile, the company will pull up AI-generated “key points” from an article when they tap the icon at the bottom.

MGM+’s “Domina” actress Joelle goes by one name like Madonna and Cher. She steps back in time this season and into a Roman world, post Julius Caesar as Tiberius’ wife Vipsania.
In the series, Joelle worked with the hair and makeup team to create a look fitting for the show’s themes, death, manipulation and a battle for control over the city.
Through her looks, a story was being reflected.
Speaking with Variety, Joelle, who has appeared in “Dune” and “The School for Good and Evil” says, “In the beginning, Vipsania is at her most innocent, she’s young and in love and hair department head Claudia Catini chose a playful golden red wig for the first three episodes.” Together they collaborated on her evolving look and most importantly how to incorporate the actor’s natural look (the actor was diagnosed with alopecia universalis at the age of 8 and...

San Francisco, Aug 3 (Ians) Google has announced new updates to the AI-powered Search Generative Experience (Sge), which includes related videos within AI-powered overviews.
With Sge, users can quickly get up to speed on a new topic, uncover quick tips for their specific questions or discover products and things to consider, the tech giant said in a blogpost on Wednesday.
“Sometimes, it’s more powerful to understand something by seeing it– so we recently brought images to even more AI-powered overviews.”
For instance, when someone searches for something like “tiniest birds of prey,” they will quickly be able to reference what the bird looks like and get relevant information from the web.
Over the next week, users will also start to see videos within some overviews where it will be helpful to see something in motion, such as a demonstration of a yoga pose, or how to get stains out of marble.

Hugh Grant Being Cast as Oompa Loompa in New ‘Wonka’ Film Criticized by Actor with Dwarfism
Hugh Grant‘s casting in the upcoming “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” prequel, “Wonka”, is being criticized by actors with dwarfism.
In the trailer for the film, which was released earlier this month, Grant is seen as an Oompa Loompa, the name Roald Dahl used for the group of diminutive factory workers in his 1964 novel “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”.
While it’s not clear if any actors with dwarfism are featured in the upcoming film, Oompa Loompas were played by actors with dwarfism in two previous films based on Roald Dahl’s book.
In a new interview from the BBC, George Coppen, an actor with dwarfism, said he believes the role should have been given to an actor with the condition.

An actor with dwarfism isn’t pleased that Hugh Grant was cast as an Oompa Loompa in Warner Bros.’ forthcoming film Wonka, which stars Timothée Chalamet as the titular candymaker.
During an interview with the BBC that published Wednesday, George Coppen said that many actors with dwarfism “feel like we are being pushed out of the industry we love.” The 26-year-old performer is known for roles in Disney+’s Willow series and Netflix’s The School for Good and Evil.
“A lot of people, myself included, argue that dwarfs should be offered everyday roles in dramas and soaps, but we aren’t getting offered those roles,” Coppen said. “One door is being closed, but they have forgotten to open the next one.”
Paul King’s film is a prequel to the 1971 feature Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, which is adapted from Roald Dahl’s 1964 novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

The trailer for Wonka, which showcases the rise of everyone’s favorite candyman, recently made its online debut. It faces the unenviable task of living up to a universally beloved family film classic, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. The popular film adaptation of the Roald Dahl 1964 novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory features the timeless performance of the legendary Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka. However, audiences are already split on the reaction to the prequel, citing the questioned necessity of elaborating on a character intended to be shrouded in mystery.
Wonka has amassed a collection of talent with the likes of Timothée Chalamet and the director of Paddington, Paul King, who gives the project the edge in positive faith with fans. One of the casting decisions made for this film was having Hugh Grant portray an Oompa Loompa. Oompa Loompas are the heart of Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory...

Four years and a global pandemic later, and the sci-fi anthology Black Mirror is finally returning to Netflix. According to Netflix, season 6 is set to be the “most unpredictable, unclassifiable and unexpected yet” of the series. As Black Mirror has taken off in popularity, the show has become almost as well-known for its A-list cast as it has for its satirical takes on our world. With stars like Miley Cyrus, Jesse Plemons, Daniel Kaluuya, Bryce Dallas Howard, and so many more appearing in the series over the years, its no surprise that season 6 is just as stacked as the rest.

Some of the greatest movies and TV shows have come from books, whether they be adult fiction, historical fiction, romance or Young Adult fantasy or dystopia. Without their authors, these adaptations — and whole worlds — would certainly not exist, so it only makes sense that they should get a chance to appear on screen in their stories, even for a moment.
Netflix has featured many author cameos in young adult adaptations of films or shows — from Soman Chainani in “The School for Good and Evil” to Leigh Bardugo in the first season of “Shadow and Bone.” Jenny Han has appeared in her “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” films, as well as the first season of “The Summer I Turned Pretty” on Prime Video. She also appears in “Xo, Kitty,” her newest series starring Anna Cathcart. Judy Blume makes an iconic appearance in the theatrical release of “Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret.

Sebastian Stan and Maria Bakalova, both veterans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, are attached to star in a new spy comedy for Paramount Pictures with Paul Feig attached to produce and potentially direct, TheWrap has confirmed.
Jenny Bicks, a screenwriter known for “The Greatest Showman” and “Rio 2,” is writing the script based off of an original pitch. Plot details are currently unknown.
Feig is probably best known for directing “Bridesmaids,” which began a string of profitable, high-concept, female led comedies like “The Heat” and “Spy.” In 2016 he directed the all-female “Ghostbusters” reboot, which became a cultural flashpoint, cutting short a potential franchise and leaving Sony to quickly revert to a more traditional approach with the release of “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” in 2021.
Since “Ghostbusters,” Feig directed the delicious dark comedy “A Simple Favor,” “Last Christmas” and most recently “The School for Good and Evil” for Netflix. Feig is currently in production on “Grand Death Lotto,...

“Shadow and Bone” sharpshooter Jesper Fahey (Kit Young) keeps his guns close, but he keeps his past and true identity even closer.
In “Shadow and Bone” Season 2, Jesper and the Crows are back in action, set mostly against the plot of “Siege and Storm” and “Ruin and Rising” by author Leigh Bardugo. Jesper remains the talkative one who has a flare for theatrics and the dramatic, but it turns out that he still has parts of him left to be revealed.
“Jesper’s quite unique in the Grishaverse in that he’s kind of the only secret Grisha,” Young told TheWrap. “Everybody’s on some level, if not out and proud, then it’s known, it’s something that is known about people and so to be hiding that about yourself, as it says quite a lot, I think, in this world.”
