This is my mangaupdates review of the original manga but the anime is a direct adaptation so all my words apply too. Genshiken 1 is good and told a complete story with characters that made sense. This one has characters which make no sense whatsoever and are just weird and quirky to be just that. No one is believable, almost no story progression is had and i get the impression that this sequel was just commissioned to print money and get a new anime made that is based on a brand that was internationally successful in the past. I just see blind greed on Afternoons and the authors side and no intention to make a good manga. I understand that writing is just a way to make money in the end but the final product should actually be worthwhile in the end and not just stand in the shadow of a prequel or even taint it. But hey at least the art is still good, for what that is worth.
