If someone in your life has been following the cheftestants of “Top Chef” through Wisconsin (and the Caribbean for the finale) this past season, which wrapped this week, then they’ve likely found themselves inspired to recreate the worldly meals featured in the hit Bravo series.
But anyone who’s tried to cook up a dish that is Padma Lakshmi-approved also knows that the right kitchen gear is absolutely necessary. The extraordinary display on cooking shows such as “Top Chef” and “Selena + Chef” (which ended its fifth season on Max last summer) is enough make anyone reconsider using their 40-year-old butter knives for chopping broccoli — sorry, broccolini.
But of course, the world of cuisine as a novice can be absolutely intimidating. What knife is the right knife?...

The “Top Chef” final four contestants left Wisconsin and flew down to Curaçao last week in “Set Sail,” and they promptly boarded a cruise ship for their final challenges. In the end, Savannah Miller and Laura Ozyilmaz were the bottom two chefs, with Laura ultimately eliminated and Savannah eking out a spot in the final three with Danny Garcia and Dan Jacobs. None of them had their best day in the kitchen that day, but that doesn’t matter now. It all comes down to one final cook to win a feature in Food and Wine magazine; an appearance at the Food and Wine Classic in Aspen, Colorado; and $250,000 in prize money. So what went down in the season 21 finale “Cruising to a Win”?
The finale begins with a stop in Aruba, where the final three are greeted by host Kristen Kish and judges Tom Colicchio and Gail Simmons. “It all boils down to this,...

“Top Chef: Wisconsin” was a season of change for the cooking competition series. Longtime host Padma Lakshmi stepped away to focus on her travel series “Taste the Nation,” so she has been replaced by season 10 champion Kristen Kish. And there were a couple of significant tweaks to the gameplay. So which chefs adapted to their surroundings, and who had to pack their knives and go? Scroll down for the complete list of eliminated cheftestants, updated every week as episodes air.

“I think I was just so excited to get to the end of this journey and be able to kind of tell my story of time and place with that meal. It was kind of like a dream to get to that point,” says “Top Chef” contestant Dan Jacobs about advancing to the season finale of the cooking competition, which airs tonight, June 19, at 9:00pm on Bravo. We talked to Jacobs and his fellow finalists Danny Garcia and Savannah Miller on the eve of the finale. Listen to our podcast interview above.

Last week on “Top Chef” in “Goodbye, Wisconsin,” the cheftestants had a tough, open-ended challenge: to create a dish that reflected how they had grown as chefs over the course of the competition. That led to the elimination of Manny Barella, whose dish didn’t really reflect his time on “Top Chef” and whose fish was uncooked. That leaves four competitors vying to win a feature in Food and Wine magazine; an appearance at the Food and Wine Classic in Aspen, Colorado; and $250,000 in prize money: Danny Garcia, Dan Jacobs, Savannah Miller and Laura Ozyilmaz. So what happened on June 12 in “Set Sail”?
For starters, we’re not in Wisconsin anymore. The chefs are now in the island nation of Curaçao in the Caribbean where they’re met by host Kristen Kish and judges Tom Colicchio and Gail Simmons to enjoy a blue curaçao drink and celebrate Savannah’s recent...

With “Dancing with the Stars” set to come back for a 33rd season this fall, there’s a long list of celebrities who deserve to compete. Three of my past suggestions actually did end up cast on the show: Frankie Muniz (who placed third in season 25), Kel Mitchell (who placed second on season 28), and Jamie Lynn Spears (who was the second to be eliminated last season). Below is a list of male celebs I think the show should consider to vie for the next Mirror Ball Trophy. Do you agree with my picks? Check them out below, then vote in our poll at the bottom of this post to let us know which you’d most like to see on “DWTS.” And let us know in the comments what other stars you would like to see when the show comes back in September.

“I’m feeling okay surprisingly,” said Michelle Wallace in her exit interview at the end of this week’s episode of “Top Chef,” “Lay It All on the Table.” She was sent home after struggling with a challenge where the cheftestants had to serve their food right there on the table instead of on plates. And unfortunately for her, “Last Chance Kitchen” just concluded last week, so there will be no opportunity for her to return to the competition. She finishes season 21 in sixth place.

Wallace was in trouble from the very beginning of the challenge. She knew she wanted to highlight salmon and beets in a brunch-inspired meal, but that’s all the inspiration she managed to come up with. The irony was that she’s actually good at food served on tables. “Crawfish boil, that’s right up my alley.

“The legendary risotto curse struck again!” says Kristen Kish at the start of this week’s “Top Chef: The Dish with Kish” after show. In this week’s episode of the cooking competition, titled “Sausage Race,” French cheftestant Kevin D’Andrea undertook the rice dish that has crushed the hopes of competitors in the past. Though it wasn’t a bad risotto in and of itself, it lacked the necessary sausage flavor it needed to fulfill the challenge, so he was eliminated. But it’s a dish you can make in 30 minutes to an hour, so why is it so hard to get it right on the show? And how do you make it properly? Kristen explored the dreaded dish with All-Star Amar Santana. Watch the episode above.

“It was my first time that I was in the bottom, and it was such a bad dish that I got eliminated, so that’s definitely a punch in the gut,” says Rasika Venkatesa as she enters “Last Chance Kitchen.” “My business on ‘Top Chef’ feels unfinished.” What happened when she faced off against Kevin D’Andrea for a chance to return to the competition? Watch this week’s episode of “Lck,” titled “Let’s Play Ball,” above, or read on to find out what happened.

Early “Top Chef” favorite Rasika Venkatesa was eliminated last week in the aptly titled “Chaos Cuisine,” leaving 10 cheftestants on the main show competing for a chance to win a feature in Food and Wine magazine; an appearance at the Food and Wine Classic in Aspen, Colorado; and $250,000 in prize money: Soo Ahn, Manny Barella, Kaleena Bliss, Kevin D’Andrea, Danny Garcia, Dan Jacobs, Savannah Miller, Laura Ozyilmaz, Amanda Turner and Michelle Wallace.
So what happened in episode seven, “Sausage Race”?
“It feels weird not having Rasika here,” says Danny, who has found a new running buddy in Savannah. Rasika was sent home last week in a result that was pretty shocking because she and fellow bottom chef Michelle have been two of the strongest, most consistent chefs of the entire competition thus far. “I felt like I was going home,” Michelle admits. Being in the bottom is “a kick in the ass.

“Chaos cooking is a thing that I think I’m still wrapping my brain around,” says Kristen Kish to “Top Chef” All-Star Marcel Vigneron in the latest episode of her after show “The Dish with Kish.” Vigneron defines it as “a blatant disregard for all the rules, and it’s specifically up to the chef to do whatever they want. Kind of like fusion, but fusion on steroids.” Watch Kish and Vigneron take on the unusual culinary trend above.
There were two challenges in this week’s “Chaos Cuisine” episode of “Top Chef,” but in both cases cakes were among the best dishes. Michelle Wallace won the Quickfire Challenge, which was to make a dessert highlighting dairy; her dish was a corn cake with mascarpone cheese, lemon zest and basil cream. Then Dan Jacobs was one of the top four chefs in the chaos cuisine Elimination Challenge with his seafood-topped funnel cake.

Charly Pierre was eliminated from “Top Chef” last week in “Supper Club,” leaving nine cheftestants on the main show competing for a chance to win a feature in Food and Wine magazine; an appearance at the Food and Wine Classic in Aspen, Colorado; and $250,000 in prize money: Manny Barella, Kevin D’Andrea, Danny Garcia, Dan Jacobs, Savannah Miller, Laura Ozyilmaz, Amanda Turner, Rasika Venkatesa and Michelle Wallace. Except no, there weren’t just nine chefs left in the competition. This week not one, but two entered the show from “Last Chance Kitchen.”
So what happened in “Top Chef” season 21, episode six, “Chaos Cuisine,” when the size of the cast actually grew?
The episode begins with some “power bottom training” in the gym with Manny and Kevin, who have become close over the course of the season, bonded over exercise much like Danny and Rasika, but also bonded over their struggles in the competition.

Brent Montgomery’s Wheelhouse has some new investors.
The company, which includes production companies including Campfire and Spoke Studios as well as partnerships with Jimmy Kimmel’s Kimmelot and David Chang’s Majordomo Media, has secured investment from Alignment Growth, the investment vehicle from Jeff Bewkes and Kevin Tsujihara.
Alignment Growth, which raised $360M to put into media and entertainment companies last year, has taken a minority stake in Wheelhouse.
The investment will allow Wheelhouse to make acquisitions and attract talent. It marks Wheelhouse’s first outside capital raise since Mongtomery, who sold 80% of Pawn Stars producer Leftfield Entertainment to ITV for $360M in 2014, founded in 2018.
Bewkes, who was formerly CEO and Chairman of the Board at Time Warner, will join Wheelhouse’s Board of Directors.

“Top Chef” hasn’t finished “Last Chance Kitchen” for the season just yet, but the second-chance after show has reached a major milestone. Alisha Elenz and Kaleena Bliss were eliminated from “Top Chef” last week in “The Wright Way,” leaving 10 cheftestants on the main show (and two in “Last Chance Kitchen“) competing for a chance to win a feature in Food and Wine magazine; an appearance at the Food and Wine Classic in Aspen, Colorado; and $250,000 in prize money: Manny Barella, Kevin D’Andrea, Danny Garcia, Dan Jacobs, Savannah Miller, Laura Ozyilmaz, Charly Pierre, Amanda Turner, Rasika Venkatesa and Michelle Wallace.
So what happened to the chefs in season 21, episode five, “Supper Club”?
The morning after getting some tough love from host Kristen Kish and guest judge Buddha Lo about their not-so-great dishes in the Frank Lloyd Wright challenge, Laura reminisces about her closeness with her sister. It sounds like their parents had the girls fend for themselves when they were just teenagers. “I had to worry about paying the bills, to buy groceries,...

“Top Chef” season 21, episode 4, “The Wright Way,” tasked the chefs with cooking meals inspired by the duality of Frank Lloyd Wright‘s architectural creations. Some were more successful than others, so guest judge Buddha Lo joined “Top Chef” host Kristen Kish for the latest episode of “The Dish with Kish” to show her what he would have made if he were in the contestants’ shoes. Watch the after show above.
Of course, Lo has been in the contestants’ shoes before. He won season 19 of the cooking competition. Then he was brought back for season 20 to face “Top Chef” champions and finalists from around the world, and he won that too. Known for his impeccable technical skill, he decided to make a dessert dish inspired by the round shapes of the Guggenheim Museum, which Wright designed. Another episode of “Top Chef: Last Chance Kitchen,” another opportunity for Tom Colicchio to explain to eliminated contestants who the hell the new guy is: Soo Ahn, this season’s secret 16th cheftestant. This was a triple threat match, though, since this week’s “Top Chef” episode, “The Wright Way,” ended in the double elimination of Kaleena Bliss and Alisha Elenz. This would be a single elimination match, though, with just one chef of the three being sent home at the end. So what happened in “Plates Aplenty”? Watch the episode above, or read on to find out.
Alisha and Kaleena were eliminated as a team in a challenge inspired by architect Frank Lloyd Wright, so “Lck” brought a little more architecture to the kitchen for this redemptive cookoff. The chefs were presented with a variety of dishes and vessels with which they would plate their meals. They would choose...

About half of the “Top Chef” contestants made variations of the same thing this week, “which is wild to me,” said Kristen Kish in the third episode of “The Dish with Kish,” which followed the “Top Chef” episode “Take it Cheesy” in which the cheftestants, naturally, made cheese dishes. But considering how many different ways there are to highlight cheese as an ingredient, it was surprising how many of them chose to make croquettes. So that’s what Kish did for her after show. Known for starring in multiple movies like Star Wars to Taken, Hollywood star Liam Neeson came under fire after he defended high-profile men who have been accused of inappropriate behavior. After two “Top Chef” challenges there have been two eliminations: David Murphy in “Chef’s Test” and Valentine Howell Jr. in “Living the High Life.” So they went head-to-head in “Last Chance Kitchen” for a chance to return to the competition … Except they didn’t. David was nowhere to be found. Perhaps his bottom-three cookoff in “Chef’s Test” served as its own kind of “Last Chance Kitchen,” because there’s no mention of him at all in this week’s first “Lck.” As far as I can tell he’s out for good. Watch this week’s “Lck” above.
Instead, Valentine had to battle Soo Ahn, a secret 16th cheftestant who the show added to the competition specifically for “Lck.” He’ll have to win five times for a chance to enter the main competition at all. Tom Colicchio gave him and Valentine a challenge that flipped Valentine’s last challenge on its head.

“Top Chef” wasted no time throwing the contestants’ into the heat of the competition, going straight into the Elimination Challenge in last week’s season premiere, “Chef’s Test.” Some chefs passed their test with flying colors while others struggled. So who went out in episode two, “Living the High Life”? Read on to find out.
David Murphy was the first chef ousted from the competition, leaving 14 on the main show competing for a chance to win a feature in Food and Wine magazine; an appearance at the Food and Wine Classic in Aspen, Colorado; and $250,000 in prize money: Manny Barella, Kaleena Bliss, Kevin D’Andrea, Alisha Elenz, Danny Garcia, Valentine Howell Jr., Dan Jacobs, Savannah Miller, Kenny Nguyen, Laura Ozyilmaz, Charly Pierre, Amanda Turner, Rasika Venkatesa and Michelle Wallace.
Manny won the Elimination Challenge in “Chef’s Test,” so he has immunity from elimination, but he doesn’t want to get too relaxed.

Only five Gold Derby users correctly predicted that David Murphy would be the first cheftestant eliminated from “Top Chef” season 21, but that’s pretty impressive considering we hadn’t seen any of the contestants in action yet. As of this writing it’s a close call between Amanda Turner and Rasika Venkatesa. Turner had one close call already. When Top Chef makes its long-awaited return for its historic 21st season, it’ll be with a new host, chef and TV presenter Kristen Kish. You may not only recognize Kish from her shows on the Travel Channel, TruTV, and National Geographic but also as a former Top Chef competitor.
In fact, Kish won her season of the competition show, after first being eliminated in season 10 but then making a comeback in Last Chance Kitchen to ultimately beat out 23 other chefs. It’s an impressive resume, to say the least, and there’s arguably no one more qualified to take on the job of host and judge on Top Chef than someone who’s actually been through the gauntlet.
As great as it is to see Kish as the new face of Top Chef, some longtime fans might be left wondering why former host Padma Lakshmi decided to step down from the show.

For Kristen Kish the opportunity to join “Top Chef” for season 21 as its new host happened quickly. “I flew to LA, had a series of meetings, and then a couple of weeks later I got a call that said, ‘You are “Top Chef” host,'” she explains. Dick Wolf’s next two shows will stream on Netflix.
The megaproducer behind the Law & Order, FBI and Chicago franchises will executive produce a pair of true-crime documentary series — titled Homicide: New York and Homicide: Los Angeles — that will detail several notorious murder cases in the two cities. Notably, the two shows are being made outside of Wolf Entertainment’s long-time home at NBCUniversal; Wolf is teaming with Dan Cutforth and Jane Lipsitz’s Alfred Street Industries.
Wolf and his company remain under an overall deal at NBCU, which runs through 2027.
Homicide: New York, which premieres March 20, will “bring to life five of New York’s most notorious murder cases by following the detectives and prosecutors that cracked them,” according to the show’s logline. A trailer for the series (watch it below) showcases interviews with the law enforcement officials involved in several cases as well as some re-enactment scenes.
