Wonderful Characterization
This episode kicks off what is in my opinion the best stretch of episodes of the Yorknew City / Phantom Troupe arc. It continues to beautifully flesh out the characters of Gon and Killua, while simultaneously illustrating the necessity of their friendship in each other's eyes. Their dynamic becomes even more endearing, and Nobunaga's response to seeing it in action is incredibly charming. His eventual attachment to Gon in the wake of losing Uvogin feels so natural and is executed perfectly. In addition, the fact that Zepile's seemingly tedious explanations of swindling techniques came back to aid Gon and Killua in this episode makes the focus on them a few episodes back feel all the more necessary. It's such a brilliant and unexpected payoff! Despite some moments of levity, the tension and constant threat of death never really diminish. The Phantom Troupe is such an imposing and enigmatic crew of antagonists, and getting to learn more about their inner-workings and conduct makes for extremely entertaining television.
