- A woman of a sausage company is kidnapped. The detectives are struggling to find the possible murderer in a small village in Germany.
- Chief Inspector LESSING's (Christian Ulmen) first day in Weimar sets off to a rockier start than he may have expected it to. He finds himself in the middle of a huge police operation. An insane extortionist has taken the pregnant police officer KIRA DORN (Nora Tschirner ) hostage and has barricaded himself in the Anna Amalia state library. As Lessing manages to take control of the situation and the apparent psychopath responsible, his colleagues inform him that the dramatic operation was simply a practice exercise. Lessing is visibly annoyed until he is faced with his first, real case: the sausage queen of Weimar, Brigitte Hoppe, the owner of a large industrial butchery, who is famous for the best sausages in Thuringia, the fat Hoppe, has gone missing. The evidence points towards murder. There is an abundance of suspects, since Mrs. Hoppe was rich and ruthless. When her frozen corpse appears on a porch swing, the chaos seems perfect. But Lessing and Dorn manage to bring light into the dark and bring the killer to justice. Not only is the secret recipe of the delicious fat Hoppe revealed, but the mystery of the "fat Dorn" is cleared up as well.—Wiedemann & Berg Television
