The Gathering is a mystery drama thriller by Helen Walsh. Before we dive into the series, I want to talk about something important: the pressure that parents put on their children and how, often, instead of following their own dreams, young people follow their parents’ dreams just to make them proud or happy. Speaking from personal experience, these young minds are so fragile that external influences have a significant impact on them, and they want to impress others so much that they forget about themselves. I didn’t just say this for the sake of it—I promise you’ll see it throughout the series as well. Now, coming back to the story, this series revolves around a girl named Kelly (Eva Morgan), who was drowned in water at a rave. From the first to the last episode, we see glimpses of Kelly being drowned. But who did it? That’s the big question.

We know how parents often present themselves as perfect role models for their children, but deep down, they have their own flaws. They may try to pretend otherwise, but the truth eventually comes out. When children discover these flaws, it can be unsettling for both parties. I believe that if parents aren’t afraid to show their flaws to their children, then children will feel more comfortable doing the same. This way, they can be each other’s safe space, accepting each other’s imperfections rather than striving for an unattainable idea of perfection. So to me, it felt like rather than focusing solely on solving the mystery of who tried to drown Kelly, the last episode of The Gathering explores these themes more deeply. It suggests that acknowledging and accepting flaws is essential for healthy relationships within families. So, let’s dive into the tale of The Gathering Episode 6 streaming on Channel 4.

Written by acclaimed novelist Helen Walsh in her first original screenplay for television, The Gathering introduces newcomer Eva Morgan as working-class student Kelly, who is attacked at an illicit rave on a tidal islet. She stars alongside Sadie Soverall (Saltburn) as Jessica, a friend and elite gymnastics teammate.
Vinette Robinson (Boiling Point) also stars as Jessica’s controlling and toxic mother Natalie and Warren Brown (The Responder) is Kelly’s hard working father Paul who struggles with his own impulse control.
Filmed and set in Liverpool and around Merseyside, The Gathering is ultimately a whodunnit. Focusing on a group of teenage misfits and their parents, each character has a motive for attacking Kelly.
We were lucky enough to chat to Eva and Warren about their respective roles and about the importance of highlighting working class voices on mainstream TV series. We also chatted to Eva about how it felt to...

The Lord of the Rings game, Gollum, was… not a hit, to say the least. Our review called it a “waste of your precious time,” and for good reason. So when news came out that more franchise games were in the works, people couldn’t help but feel skeptical.
At least it can’t get any worse, right? That’s what we’d like to think, but many have already condemned the idea to be “trash” or have outright rejected it. Embracer CEO Lee Guinchard seems to have a lot of hope, however, as relayed in a recent interview.

Channel 4 has refreshed its brand identity with an emphasis on its digital and streaming platforms.
From Tuesday, Channel 4 has transitioned to become the “world’s first public service streamer,” the British television organization said in a statement.
The relaunch is intended to target younger viewers who are accustomed to watching video content across different devices and platforms, including phones, tablets, computers and streaming services.
The refresh will put a greater emphasis on “app-like” experiences across the Channel 4 brand, which will continue to include the flagship linear broadcast network and ancillary TV channels.
New features on Channel 4’s digital and streaming properties are designed to increase engagement with a growing segment of younger viewers, executives said in a statement. They cited internal research that showed nearly one million young people between the ages of 13 and 24 streamed Channel 4 content on a PC or laptop, an increase of 17 percent when compared to the prior year.

UK network ITV has posted Q1 revenues down 7%, as its studios division felt the impact of last year’s Hollywood labor strikes.
The commercial broadcaster’s total revenue was £887M ($1.1B), compared with £952M in 2023, with a recovery in the ad market offset by a 16% dip at ITV Studios.
The Media and Entertainment unit that houses its main network was up 2% at £505M, according to a trading update this morning. Earnings weren’t broken out.
Total revenue at ITV Studios, which makes the likes of Love Island and Mr Bates Vs the Post Office were £382M, down on the £457M in the same period last year.
According to ITV, this was “due to the phasing of deliveries which are heavily weighted to H2 and the expected impact from both the 2023 U.S. writers and actors strikes and the weaker demand from free-to-air broadcasters in Europe who have been holding back...

U.K. broadcaster ITV has reported mixed financial fortunes for the first quarter of 2024.
Its advertising revenue growth of 3%, with the second quarter expected to be up around 12%, is offset by the downturn in revenues from ITV Studios. Total revenue was down 7% to £887 million ($1.10 billion), between January and March, compared to £952 million ($1.18 billion) during the same period in 2023.
Within that total, ITV Studios revenues were down by 16% to £382 million (2023: £457 million), “due to the phasing of deliveries which are heavily weighted to H2 and the expected impact from both the 2023 U.S. writers and actors strikes and the weaker demand from free-to-air broadcasters in Europe who have been holding back spend until they see more certainty in the advertising market,” the broadcaster said.
During the quarter ITV Studios delivered “The Reluctant Traveller” for Apple TV+, “The Red King” for Alibi, “The Gathering” for Channel 4 and “I’m A Celebrity…...

This article contains spoilers for "Star Wars: Tales of the Empire."
The fate of the fallen Jedi Barriss Offee (voiced by Meredith Salenger) has been an enduring mystery after "The Clone Wars" season 5 finale, and the green Mirialan's tumultuous history made her ripe for a continued story in the "Star Wars" universe. Disgruntled by the Jedi Order's involvement in the Clone Wars, the then-padawan bombed the Jedi Temple and framed her bestie Ahsoka Tano (voiced by Ashley Eckstein). Said treachery instigated Ahsoka's departure from the Jedi Order, highlighting the spread of disillusionment within the Order.
As the supervising director of "Clone Wars," Dave Filoni nearly killed off Barriss, but then he cut the scene where she commits a suicide bombing in her Republic jail cell. Considering the lengths Filoni went to keep a secret of "Star Wars Rebels" from the crew, a league of Barriss Truthers saw her as...

Lionsgate Television just eliminated more than half of its development deals, IndieWire has confirmed. The reduction comes after Lionsgate’s $375 million acquisition of eOne from Hasbro. The eOne purchase, which on the television side brought over “Yellowjackets” and other series, mixed with general industry contraction in the post-Peak TV era, rationalized the sweeping cuts.
Lionsgate executives conducted a two-months-long review of the Lionsgate Television and eOne talent rosters, which together included nearly 60 overall and first-look deals. The number is now below 30; no names have been reported on either the “stay” or “go” side of the ledger.
Deadline first reported the news. A Lionsgate rep declined comment on this story.
It is pretty common for a company to slim down ahead of acquisition — just ask Paramount — but this round was pretty drastic. It is important to remember that during last year’s writers strikes, pretty much all overall deals were put on pause.
