In 1973, the killer of Welsh teenagers Sandra Newton, Pauline Flynn and Gwendoline Hughes was not caught, despite a high-profile and widespread investigation by South Wales Police. The girls’ families spent the next three decades not knowing who was responsible for brutally taking the lives of their loved ones, or whether he still lived alongside them in the local Neath and Port Talbot communities.
In 2002, a development in forensics changed everything. The cold case was reopened with much pared-down resources, and crime scene DNA was successfully used to identify Wales’ first recorded serial killer. Steeltown Murders is the story of the loss, guilt and suspicion that followed the 1970s murders, and of the perseverance of the officers who were eventually able to provide the victims’ families with the answers they’d been denied years before.
Here are the actors making up the cast behind Steeltown Murders‘ dramatisation of real-life figures and events.

I’m writing a letter to Richard Curtis on behalf of Frances de la Tour. Release the director’s cut of Love Actually – for the sake of the nation. The silken-voiced Harry Potter and Seventies sitcom star was originally among the crème de la crème British thesps starring in the 2003 film, playing Anne Reid’s dying, bed-ridden partner – but both actors ended up on the cutting room floor. “Oh yes, we had a lovely scene,” she says. “And I think it was the only gay scene,” she remembers. “It’s odd that they cut it. Maybe it was too dark to bring into it. Because it ended up being quite a light and fluffy film, didn’t it?” It could have made the affectionately derided Christmas film into something quite different – more progressive, less cloyingly twee. But, still, Curtis has manners. “At least he wrote to me and said we...

These are strange days for the TV superhero genre. Not only is the superhero sector in major flux it has taken a hard turn toward the surreal and the subversive with a wave of shows that are wildly (and wonderfully) weird. The wave of shows includes FX’s Legion, Netflix’s Umbrella Academy, and Syfy’s Happy! (and it will soon add HBO’s Watchmen and Amazon’s The Boys) but the current vanguard of the bizarro shows is Doom Patrol, the weekly DC Universe series that premiered a day after St Valentine’s Day.
It was a fitting premiere date for the Doom Patrol — the team is, after all, famously unloved within the DC mythology. They were introduced as hard-luck, misfit heroes back in 1963 — and harshly killed off...

David Walliams is writing a new sketch show. The 43-year-old star has revealed he is penning a new series, ten years after the end of his hit show 'Little Britain' which he wrote and starred in with fellow comedian Matt Lucas. However, fans of David's sitcom 'Big School' will be left disappointed as the new project means he won't have time to write a third series with his co-creators Catherine Tate and Philip Glenister. He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: ''The BBC asked for a third series, but I asked to do a new sketch show instead, and they agreed.'' The BBC...

Cast your minds back to 2002 - a time when Pop Idols didn't need to have The X Factor, Fifty Shades of Grey were just colours on a paint sampler chart and David Beckham was a mere international superstar rather than global megastar.

"I told him I'd come out of his closet but he said no."
Walliams also joked of his envy that Cowell and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini are friends again.
"I won't be Simon's favourite girl any more," he said. "I will try to temper my jealousy when I watch the new series of X Factor and see Cheryl and Simon being so close."
He also spoke about Fernadez-Versini's recent wedding.
"Simon is terrible at keeping secrets. Cheryl was very wise not to tell him her big news," he said. "He'd have definitely blabbed it."

BBC One controller Charlotte Moore has said that social media should never dictate programming decisions.
Speaking today (December 2) at a BAFTA session, Moore argued that sites like Twitter should "never [be] the only reason to decide whether you're going to commission or not commission".
"It would be mad to think that you're going to make any creative judgements based on that," she said. "That's just one element of feedback [and] it's a very small part of our audience."
Moore added that working in the media can cause people to become "overly obsessed" with Twitter.
"If you work for the media, you feel [social media] must be the biggest market, but I simply don't think that's true," she continued. "I know it's not true.
"It's very easy to get overly obsessed by it. You've got to take it within context. It's that balance between... keeping up with your younger audiences who really are interested in social media and Twitter.

The clip - entitled 'The Cheese Moment' - was cut from the BBC One sitcom's first episode for timing reasons, but is available to watch on the Series One DVD release.
However, Walliams has described it as "one of [his] favourite scenes" because of the way it sets up the dynamic between his character Mr Church, Catherine Tate's Miss Postern and Philip Glenister's Mr Gunn.
"We tried to make Miss Postern and Mr Church sympathetic," the star explained. "They are two people you would like to see together. They're not bad people - they're sweet.
"It's lovely when the audience are willing two characters to get together. We can see it from the outside, but the characters can't because they're too socially awkward."
However, Walliams added that it is "probably best to keep [Church and Postern] apart".

David Walliams and Catherine Tate launch their new comedy series Big School on BBC One this evening (August 16).
To celebrate, Tube Talk have picked our five favourite TV schools that would make even double Maths followed by a Physics exam not seem all that bad.
Summer Heights High
Whether you were working on the latest Mr G musical ('You Can't Skate, Mate', 'Tsunamarama') or just chilling at Gumnut Cottage with Jonah Takalua ("Puck you Miss"), Chris Lilley's Summer Heights High always looked like a pretty fun place to be.
Springfield Elementary
The chance to scream "Skinner!" in a Superintendent Chalmers voice, the chance to be laughed at by Nelson Muntz ("Haaa-ha"), the chance to give a wedgie to Martin Prince, the chance to play pranks on Seymour Skinner and Groundskeeper Willie, the utter ineptitude of the teachers - who wouldn't want to attend Springfield Elementary?

David Walliams has described his new sitcom Big School as "slightly subtler" than his previous work.
The Britain's Got Talent judge said his character in the series is "a lot more real" than his personas in Little Britain.
Walliams stars alongside Catherine Tate, Philip Glenister and Daniel Rigby in the new series, which begins on BBC One on Friday (August 16).
He told Pa: "This character has got to be a lot more real because you're going to spend a lot more time with him.
"I hope that people find it funny but enjoy that it's a slightly subtler thing from me."
Walliams - who co-wrote the series - plays teacher Mr Church, who falls for Tate's character in the series.
"I wanted to do something a bit like The Remains of the Day - the story of these two servants who were in love with each other but can't quite express it,...
