Mathagam is easily one of the most gripping police dramas in the Ott space. In the previous episodes, Padalam Sekhar found two moles that were working for the police. Meanwhile, the police force were on the other side of the farmhouse, and they arrested one rogue group, which included a municipal councilor. Sekhar informs Ashwath about the mole he captured and threatens to murder the man. There is a lot to unfold as the series heads towards finale. The police must rescue the hostages and make sure there are no casualties in that process.

Part two of the gripping police drama Mathagam is out, and the show is far from over. A lot is going on when it comes to a party being thrown for Padalam Sekhar’s oldest associate, Choolai Babu’s birthday. But this party is just a guise for Sekhar’s plans to commit a major financial crime, which involves truckloads of money being transported into the farmhouse. Mathagam Part 1 ended with the police finally closing in on the party. Meanwhile, Sekhar gets a whiff of the presence of the force in the vicinity and uses his only contact, minister Veeraval Nalangilli, to put the operation on hold. He transfers Commissioner Sayanthika and replaces her immediately. Her replacement allows her to carry out the operation because she has a few hours to relieve her seat. Mathagam is the brand-new police procedural drama from Disney+ Hotstar. Part 1 is out for everyone to watch and enjoy. It is a Tamil-language drama that covers plenty of work that the local police in Chennai do to get rid of crime per se. This five-episode-long show is about a flawed police force that goes out of its way to catch criminals.

Mathagam begins with the scene of Vaidegi trying to establish some physical intimacy between her and her husband, Ashwath, who is a cop. They’ve just had a daughter, and Ashwath has started to seem more and more like a distant father and husband. Vaidegi keeps mentioning that she is struggling to take care of her daughter. Ashwath’s conduct can’t be said to be typical male behavior, but there are men like him who simply refuse to understand the pain their wives go through pre- and post-pregnancy.

Then there are commercial releases that demonize the police force. Adding to this list is Mathagam, which loosely translates to the head of a person, animal, or object. Directed by Prasad Murugesan, the show is a Tamil-language Disney+ Hotstar special that was released on August 18th, 2023.
