- Before the films original and first release the final cut of this film had a re-edit by WGBH Productions, removing both the beginning and the end framing of the original film, with five minutes shorter and some eighty changes to the final cut. This re-editing then changed the dynamics of the whole film, with the original edit telling of the black perspective and the WGBH edit telling an opposite opinion such as "...the point of view of the state itself, laying the blame on blacks...". With these heavy re-edits the original production team disassociated themselves, and were not included in the credits for the re-edited version. Colin Prescod, angered after seeing the re-edit, demanded that WGBH Productions remove all his material. WGBH ignored Mr. Prescod's request, and his legal attempt to block publication was unsuccessful: Beware in which edit you are viewing.
