Care is a 13-minute film that follows two care workers: a young immigrant woman trying to earn money for university, while the other is slightly older and more experienced. The two come from discrete backgrounds and couldn't be more different, but here they are in this stressful and challenging field to help the vulnerable.
What I liked about this is that it gives you an idea of the workflow with care workers and the strict demands of the private care system.
Despite helping those in need with patience and kindness, the private care system still finds ways to give them flack, either because they are still with the patient way past the time limit of the visit or making assumptions about their attitudes towards the patient.
It has a cold and bluish look/feel, which helps complement the film's atmosphere and (another way to look at it) the character's mood. Whenever they both share a moment of laughter and warm up to each other, it is a good reminder that we can find light in the most challenging of times.
It has the potential to be a feature-length film, as it could have explored the private care system more because it has a lot to say about it, and I want to hear and see it.
Because, just like the care workers and patients themselves, you only spend a certain amount of time with them. Either way, this short film was decent.
