As North and South Korea were created post Korean War, here the peninsula is still intact, the city they are in is called Gaegyeong by the Korean citizens which is the Korean reading of the name. The Japanese occupying Korea called it: Keijo. The city is now present day Seoul, South Korea's capital.
During Japanese colonial era (1910 ~1945), Joseon had to follow Japanese era name.
