Yeah, Jake is a good actor. The changes in the script and plot provide enough twists and turns to keep you interested, especially the cliffhanger endings to each episode, but there are issues..
The actors that are strong are obvious, and so are the two or three that are weak. I won't bore you by belaboring those points.
The most significant problem is that Rusty, supposedly an excellent lawyer, continually makes the wrong choices, abuses trust and lashes out in the most inappropriate ways. Not only is the character wildly different than the movie with Harrison ford, but the character doesn't make sense within the series' plot.
Carolyne Polhemus is dead. His obsessive pursuit of her is extinguished. His motivation is now twofold: find her killer and bring them to justice, and exonerate himself. But his actions undermine those two goals every time. And the way he burns every important relationship until this episode, where there is a surprising and unearned turnaround, rings false.
I'll watch the finale, and I hope there's some sort of unifying plot thread to bring some real sense to all of this.
