A hard-hitting action thriller is shown on the evening television program. What happens in front of her window, however, puts the kibitzing grandma Horvath in even greater excitement: A car driver who stops in front of a person lying on the street is suddenly overpowered and kidnapped by this person. Shortly thereafter, the hostage, 22-year-old Paul Rauch, transmitted the demand in a blackmail video: 2 million in 48 hours. The fact that Paul's mother, Sonja, wants to keep the police out of it, brings the special investigators Haller and Niko into play. The "blind man and the rascal" cause unrest in the wine-growing region, where everyone knows everyone. The winegrower Tomasek is also targeted, as is Leo, the dealing brother of Paul's crush Rita. Meanwhile, the pressure is growing on Paul's wealthy uncle Heinrich, who is the only one in the family who can raise the money. While Haller and Niko are stuck, Paul's mother is pushing for the money to be handed over.
