La Dame de Fer translates into The Lady of Iron in English. At one time, it referred to the Eiffel Tower.
Laurent opened the plastic wrapper for a Carambar Caramel bite-sized candy, which revealed a joke, "What is the favorite dish of vampires?" followed by the answer "Croque Monsieur". Croque Monsieur refers to a grilled cheese sandwich and ham and it roughly translates to "Crunchy gentlemen", the joke being, vampires feed on the living.
As Daryl and Laurent are traveling out of Paris on the boat they pass a smaller replica of the Statue of Liberty, which is located on the Île aux Cygnes (Isle of Swans) on the River Seine. The statue was given by the United States as a gift to France in 1889 to celebrate the anniversary of the French Revolution. Which was only three years after the dedication of the original Statue of Liberty in New York on October 28, 1886, which was a gift to the United States from France celebrating the 100th anniversary of the end of the Revolutionary War. The Statue of Liberty, whose full name is Liberty Enlightening the World, was designed by French sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi and built by the famed French civil engineer Gustave Eiffel, the same engineer who designed and built the Eiffel Tower, which was finished in 1889.
