THE BLESSED ONES is an indie horror with a different premise to most. The story is about a crazed religious cult bent on suicide and destruction, and as an indie it's quite classy looking in places, made with some skill at times. Unfortunately, it's also very cheap and uneventful, with a lot of scenes of actors talking to the camera which doesn't really do much for anybody. The acting veers from the just about managing to the poor, and some authentic visuals aren't enough to save this from the doldrums.

Blessed Ones is a very creepy hypnotic thriller

Warning: Spoilers
I was impressed by the scope of this low budget film as it explores the dark underbelly of cults. It is definitely quirky and a little disjointed at times but I appreciate it's ambition in trying not to be a typical generic horror film. Dave Vescio really shines as the cult leader in a creepy yet subtle performance. I also like when the film ventures into the surreal, reminiscent of David Lynch. This film is a nice surprise and I think it will find a receptive audience.
