As his Florida-based family’s safety hung in the balance ahead of devastating Hurricane Irma, Josh Gad made one call which helped save their lives -- to his Frozen costar, Kristen Bell!
During an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Tuesday, Gad shared how Bell came to the rescue after his initial plans to keep his family safe backfired due to the hurricane changing course.
“My entire family lives in South Florida, so I sent them all to my brother’s place in Tampa,” Gad said. “Then the hurricane veered west to Tampa and I had to get them out and had nowhere to send them, so I immediately started calling everybody I know.”
“I was like, ‘Wait, Kristen is in Disney World and she’s got all of her cast and crew because she’s shooting a film there,’” he continued. “So, I called her up and said, ‘Is there any...

It wouldn't be the Oscars without drama. Or in this case, draaaaaa-maaaa. The day before the Oscars -- yes, the day before the Oscars -- the Academy rescinded a nomination. Greg P Russell had received his 17th nomination (he's never won) for his sound mixing on 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi but that nomination is no more. The decision was announced yesterday in light of information about phone calls to branch members. Telephone as well as email lobbying is against the rules. The other members of that particular sound team have retained their nominations so there are still 5 nominated films in the category.
Sing along at Greg's house "Alone...Yet Not Alone...♫ "

Though the NFL has yet to confirm the news, The Associated Press reports that Elliott -- who was featured on Perry's song "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" -- is all set to make a surprise appearance with the pop star at the big game on Sunday in Phoenix, Arizona.

Perry did hint at the "Work It" rapper's involvement with the halftime show -- which will also include Lenny Kravitz -- during Thursday's press conference, saying that her performance will include an "old school" female artist. "When you hear the first ring of the chord," Perry said, "I think jaws will drop and faces will melt."

Katy Perry is getting ready for her anticipated Super Bowl halftime show, and she teased the exciting performance during a press conference held Thursday morning.
Et’s Kevin Frazier kicked off the proceedings by getting the social media queen to snap a selfie with him.
Then, she proceeded to hint at what could be the best halftime show in years.
So should we all be excited? Absolutely. Here are six important things we learned during today's press address.

Things aren’t looking good over in Batman Eternal. Not for former police commissioner Jim Gordon. Not for Batman. And not for us.
Not for Gordon, because eight issues into this fifty-two issue maxi-series, he’s still sitting in Blackgate Penitentiary awaiting trial for 162 counts of manslaughter. Not for Batman, because his best friend and former police commissioner is in Blackgate leaving Batman with interim commissioner Jack Forbes. And not for us, because eight issues into the fifty-two issue maxi-series that is Batman Eternal, we’ve realized its glacial pacing shows no signs of melting even with global warming. Seriously, this story has more padding than bubble wrap.
So what is it this time that’s got my spleen venting like a Yellowstone geyser? It’s interim police commissioner Jack Forbes. When we first met Forbes, back in Batman: The Dark Knight # 1, he was a lieutenant in Internal Affairs and...

Rubber-faced characters and a seemingly ceaseless parade of repurposed pop ditties combine to make what might be the worst animated feature Disney has ever released
Well, now we know what a Las Vegas show designed for eight-year-olds would look like.
The advance marketing on producer George Lucas’ “Strange Magic” suggested a retread of the not-all-that-memorable 2013 cartoon “Epic.” And yes, this fairies-versus-bugs story does recall that earlier film, but “Magic” also ladles in unwieldy dollops of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” “Moulin Rouge!” and a particularly long and excruciating episode of “American Idol.”

When it comes to cultural impact, mega-sales and drama, this year’s Best Original Song category at the Academy Awards is going to have an awfully difficult time competing with last year’s category.

Only one week left before Christmas.
Now it’s crunch time to get those holiday gifts and stocking stuffers on a short notice. And these Blu-rays will make fine gifts for any film aficionado.
Since it is the last minute gift ideas—we’re keeping this list to something simple and not those expensive collector’s edition or boxed sets. However, we do want the best Blu-rays that features the movie, downloadable and the best extra features out there.
So check out the following recommendations.
For the action movie lovers:
Godzilla
Gozilla fans can rejoice with the mega monster taking on creatures in the middle of San Francisco. Sure there’s a human story to it, but Godzilla should be the focus. Nonetheless the fight scene is impressive and far better than the forgettable one starring Matthew Broderick. The extra features have a few 1950s government...

This year's Best Original Song Oscar race hasn't really achieved much lift-off. Of course, the contenders have been obvious. "Lost Stars" from "Begin Again" may well be the best of them, though "Everything is Awesome" from "The Lego Movie" certainly has its punch-drunk fans. Elsewhere, though, there are a few popular artists in the mix. John Legend and Common put together a hell of a track for "Selma" called "Glory." Lana Del Rey is back in the mix with the title track from "Big Eyes." Coldplay even wants to, uh, play, with "Miracles" from "Unbroken." The Academy announced the list of 79 eligible contenders Friday afternoon, and many of them you've seen outlined clearly in our dedicated Contenders section for the category all season. Let's take a closer look… Animated players "The Book of Life" and "The Boxtrolls" each have a pair of ditties and "Big Hero 6" has one as well.

Pentatonix's That's Christmas to Me is the bestselling holiday album of the season. The title track on the album is an original Christmas song and Et got to spend an entire day -- and night -- with the group as they shot the video.
After winning NBC's The Sing-Off competition in 2011, Scott Hoying, Mitch Grassi, Kirstie Maldonado, Avi Kaplan and Kevin Olusola have been spending an immense amount of time recording in the studio and performing in arenas. A slew of classic Disney movies are hitting for the first time on Blu-Ray, including one double-pack release, and you’re going to want to make sure to pick these up. You haven’t paid attention to some of these titles for a while, and it’s about time you got the chance to catch them on Blu-Ray. The best part is that there’s a great mix of releases hitting. Bedknobs and Broomsticks is all but lost in the cultural consciousness, and it deserves a return. The Academy Award-winning movie from the year I was born is filled with a lot of fun and adventure, and like most Disney films, holds up well for a whole new generation.

Winning my award for “Most Badass 2014 SXSW Midnighters Feature” was a horror musical that took me by complete surprise, blending operatic theatrics and bitchin’ 80s hair metal for a gloriously gory chorus of terror. Stage Fright, created by Jerome Sable and Co-Composer Eli Batalion, is an exquisite throwback to a greater era of horror, but the boys who brought you The Legend Of Beaver Dam also inject a humorous bite worthy of both laughs and screams. I mean, who doesn’t love a sing-along boasting a body count? Wait – don’t answer that. Just let me keep thinking I’m normal.
Drawing comparisons such as “Glee meets Sleepaway Camp” and “The Phantom Of The Opera meets Scream,” I like to think Stage Fright finds a unique, witty blend that goes beyond Glee‘s overly-dramatic sarcasm. Coming out guns blazing, Sable and Batalion hit fans right away with a self-deprecating song...

It didn't take long after "Orange Is The New Black's" July 11 premiere on Netflix for the new show from "Weeds" creator Jenji Kohan to explode onto the pop culture scene. Everyone seemingly became obsessed with the female prison dramedy, and actresses who were relative unknowns when the show premiered got catapulted into overnight stardom.
That was the case for Uzo Aduba, who plays Suzanne "Crazy Eyes" Warren on the Netflix hit. Aduba's previous film and television roles included characters like "Nurse" in one episode of "Blue Bloods" and "Cafeteria Lady" in a short film called "Sing Along," so she came into the show new to TV viewers. But Aduba's turn as Crazy Eyes was both comedic and intensely tragic, and she turned a character that at first could have been one dimensional into something much more.
