That was dark!

Once again Vinland Saga shows us the sheer brutality of this world and how there sometimes are no Mercy! After the last episode we are still not done with heartbreaking and emotional scenes that will stick with you!

This episode kicks off the last part of season two as Canute heads toward Ketils farm and Leif arriving there as well! Ketil returns home.. and we can only imagine the consequences!

I loved the theme of violence! Its such a natural part of this world and time-period that we don't think much of it! This episode though forces us to think about! Violence may be everywhere.. but no one should endure it!

The scene with Ketil and Arnheid was brutal! One of the darkest moments in my opinion! Heartbreaking and really got to me! Gave me "12 years a slave"-vibes!

Pain after pain..., or just a "little" emotional damage!

Vinland Saga Season 2 Episode 18: "The First Method" 2 episode back to back pain!

Yeah..., that was a brutal and depressing episode!

The last 8 or so minutes were excruciating to watch, but it also showed how cruel the world is.

Ketil's breakdown was inevitable with the upcoming war. But one thing is certain..., Canute is coming with his army, and oh boy the war is inevitable at this point.

You know, everything about this episode (especially the voice acting) was perfect except one thing..., yess I wanted to see Thorfinn and Leifs reacting to finally meeting each other again.., but yeah I understand that maybe this is not the perfect time to do that. But I'm not gonna lie that was one of the things I was looking forward to the most...

But I got plenty of pain instead.., oh yess..., Vinland Saga this why we love you!! Oh man..

At this point I cannot wait for the conclusion of this arc. I'm ready to witness more greatness.

Warning: Spoilers
I have never, ever been so angry at a single character in any show. Even more than Danzo in naruto. Before this episode started, no, even almost halfway through the episode I was rooting for Ketil to triumph in this war. But the second that scum bag Ketil started hitting arnheid I genuinely wished death upon him. No matter how this story turns out, as long as this demon dies in the most horrific way possible, that will be enough to make this show a masterpiece.

Oh and besides from that, the new tone this episode brought was absolutely amazing and I can't wait for what's about to kick off in the next few episodes.

I find it extremly funny how

Warning: Spoilers
Theres a user named moritzheitz or smth like that who did a review on the S2 episode storm where they gushed about the idea of vinland as if it was the first time it had been mentioned in the entire show although it was talked about a lot during the first season.

However it was even funnier when i went to check the reviews on this episode and i found the same guy talking about arnheid getting beat up while rambling about the masters kodex but completely disregarding the fact that she was never given the choice to become free.

Anyways i think moritzheitz should focus more on watching the show than writing their silly reviews 10/10 review by mortvrkeveownw.

Several topics to see

Warning: Spoilers
We've seen several important things in this episode.

First Knute, who has plan to take everything from everyone to create peace in the world. Second is about Thorfin, who had oath to not to fight, but it appeared that in this world if you do nothing sometimes it gets worser. If he killed Snake maybe Gardar will be still alive and he will escape with Arnheild . However he thinks that snake is also good person and he don't want that. That's why he doesn't understand what is right , and theres Einar who said that sometimes you should fight and I think this is the main thing when Thorfin decide to fight for freedom and peace.

Third thing is about Ketil. We thought that he was really kind and also modern man who thought that slaves can be free but moment when he is talking Arnheild as belong of his is far from that. I think that this is the good example of men who thinks that woman is belonging. And when Einar saw Arnheid it was so painful , because she could have a better life if there won't be slavery or war, so I remembered that in one episode Einar said that no one is slave, just some of them were unlucky :(

The return of THE MASTER
moritzherz8 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
After Vinland Saga's last episode blew off our minds, this week's pulls of the next big moment we were waiting for.

Master Ketil returns to his farm and learns all about the events he has missed. He gets to know that Arnheid tried to escape, which makes him very upset. Since Thorgil, the master's son, appeared Ketil seemed to be another person. He could not been taken serious anymore. Take the scene were Thorgil uses him for bowling at the beginning of the episode.

Seeing him thrashing Arnheid, so he is in coma at the end of the episode subverted all of our expectations. But it is not a random 180 degree change that makes no sense.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is Vinland Saga, EVERYTHING makes sense.

The master's kodex is based upon honour. If a slave works hard he will have the chance to buy his freedom. He also is fair and does not punish them severly when they make faults. The only thing he wants in return is respect, discipline and most important loyalty. Arnheid broke this kodex which made him furious.

Having that in mind, the blows hit twice as hard, considering the bond we have to Arnheid as a character. We know that the events happened were quite unfortunately. After losing her husband she now gets nearly beaten to death.

So now that this is spoken out I want to address another great part of this episode:

The payoff

Since the beginning of this season many, including me, predicted that Thorfinn and Einar will have to defend the farm against Canute. This was a feeling many had and also a dream. Now seeing that will happen in some way is amazing. Since January we have waited and 5 months later it pays off. This is the reason why I love this show!

The next episodes will be the conclusion of season two of the Payoff Saga and I cannot await them! This is wuality television at its best!
