This was quite something.

Costello receives some exciting news about her book, but she and Iris have no choice but to move to Somerset. Selby receives a visit from Fen, who then opens up to his therapist.

Oh boy, this was good, this was so good, what a snapshot of how utterly impossible life is for some right now, the different for 'the haves,' in contrast to the 'have nots.'

Selby's scene with Kenneth was both explosive, revealing and tragic all rolled into one, it gave us something of an insight into his character, and why he is the way he is.

I think my favourite scene had to be that moment in the art gallery, absolutely tremendous, moving, Ade Edmondson was class.

Sunset Park, the irony in that name was quite something, where on Earth did they find that place. Diamond beavers, I actually dribbled my coffee reading that.

Karl Pilkington, Siobhan Redmond and Trevor Fox, lots of well known faces.

9/10.

another Hit for HBO Max
Selby's glint in his eye when he realizes Costello needs him again in her life is ironic. It is almost as if her misery and problems with money make him a better person or a more responsible person. Episode 8 is the last of Rain Dogs season 1 and will be intriguing to see where it leaves us. Costello had a new lease on life but lost it by the end, giving one to Selby instead. There is an instant sympathy for Costello due to her cutthroat nature, which is an intrinsic element of the working class lifestyle. This is because the world works based on appearances and the perception of what should be right. Costello and Iris get a new lease on life as Barnaby from Fiscus Publishing has picked up her book "Diamond Beavers" for publishing. Iris sits in an art gallery with Lenny to bid him goodbye, and he has made a beautiful self-portrait that she hangs with the other paintings. Her rant about the entitled and privileged couple has gone viral, establishing her as an authentic voice of the working class. The trio scrambles when a security guard catches them. Lenny says the most beautiful line of the episode, "All you can ask for in life is one moment of perfection." Fen visits Selby and shows him the news piece about Costello, leading Selby to believe that Costello and Iris won't need him anymore. He then has sex with Fen, who even offers to take Selby out with him. Gloria is taking Costello and Iris to Sunset Park in Somerset, where they would be "intentionally homeless" otherwise. Gloria is arrested by a policeman for speeding and having alcohol in her system. Two locals, Grey and Ferryman, pick them up in their cart. Selby feels like he has lost ground in life and talks to Kenneth, the therapist at the facility, who reveals that the day he lost his virginity was also the day his father committed suicide. Selby jumps across the table and starts choking Kenneth, but the therapist fights back and makes sure to let Selby know he won't back down so easily. Sunset Park is a place that feels like it has been transported to the early 2000's, with no mobile signal, no delivery services, and no television signal. Costello meets Simon for the job of a debt collector, but he is unsure about her. Costello explains her novel's plot to Grey, who offers her companionship and tells her about the divided campaign on the internet against her. When she goes to Grey's house to send the new chapters to her editor, she takes a look at the mean comments about her in the news article. Costello tells the story about how she battered Stacey Backshaw, someone in her class, for making fun of Costello and embarrassing her in front of a boy. She acts rashly and says some women like Stacey do deserve a bashing and she is prepared to give them one if needed. The kids whisper to each other that Costello is doing a Britney, referring to the viral video Britney Spears uploaded years ago. Barnaby calls Costello and informs her the deal is off. Costello is heartbroken and pleads with him not to take away the chance, but Barnaby cannot help her. She drinks her sorrows away, breaking her years of sobriety in a few days. Iris notices this and calls Selby with the information and asks him to visit Somerset. He is only able to say Somerset when he asks for the location, but that is enough for him to pack his bags and head for their location.
