A Bit Forced
swissbuttercream27 December 2023
These grudges are a bit forced at times and many come across as faked for the sake of television. Some of the other grudges are portrayed as so intensely bitter that it is distasteful to watch. It is quite possible that the wrestling match format with the over the top announcer is just not right for this type of show. The whole thing feels campy and fake.

On a more positive note, some of the chefs are talented and it is fun to see which ingredients they choose to bring to the table. Overall this show misses the mark for me but is fine as a filler. I was surprised that it was renewed for a second season.

Guy Fieri without Guy Fieri
johan-hillnas20 August 2023
Everything feels scripted from that man behind the curtain, the executive producer Guy Fieri. It's his words through Darnells mouth, his judges from triple G etc.

A good thing is the secret ingredient, that adds a new element to the matches!

Some matches are good, but in 90% the feel-good guy wins, no matter the cooking...

The so called grudges are fake, they're all chummy buddies. A different name like challenge instead of grudge would be better fitting.

Same with the knives. Both chefs lies their heads off about how precious that knife is and how the would miss it, yada yada!

Only 2 judges and not showing how they voted is another thing they may consider changing if there's another season?

Keeping it Real

Maybe I have become too much of a cynic but the premise for this show is not believable. Darnell is great , love him but this BS that these professional chefs have been holding these grudges and are willing to lose their favorite knives in the process....really?? Not buying it. I do love a good cooking competition , so I just roll my eyes when I hear about the grudge.

How about caliing the show " Bet my Knife Challenge"? Or " Put your knife down challenge "?

I love all the talented chefs that are participating, just prefer to keep things real .

I will still watch it as I love cooking competitions.

Very enjoyable.

Warning: Spoilers
Yes, it's contrived. Yes, it's obviously not really a "Grudge" match. And yes, it's super enjoyable. Put aside the forced "Grudge" aspect and you have another fun cooking competition show akin to Tournment of Champions. Seeing as how it's Guy Feiri produced, I wouldn't be surprised if they filmed this while/ after filming TOC IV. I love to nerd out on these kind of shows because they are just fun. Its amazing how some people can't see past the obviously fabricated premise and just enjoy it for what it is. And it's pretty much the usual GGG and TOC cast of characters, which to me is just awesome.

Super Host

The matches are fun, fast-paced and light in spirit. Some of the grudges seem deeper than others, but they have all fit in to the dynamics of the show perfectly. Darnell brings the kind of charisma that leaves the viewer wanting to tune in for more. All the elements combined make for a really great watch. I really enjoyed the lesser-known chefs as it brings freshness to these competitions and also will give them merit in the celebrity chef world. I've never had a time where I've watched an episode and haven't been put in a better mood as a result. I'll be front row for season 2 when it airs!!!

Food Network Superbowl
lgcrazy13 December 2023
Honestly me and my husband are obsessed with this show. It has all our favorite chefs that we love, coming to fiiiiight! It's so fun!! It feels like our super bowl. (who cares about football when their is food network?? Amirite?) anyways, they all come in with their personal grudges, and they bet their FAVORITE knives!! Winner takes both!! It's juicy and delicious. Honestly at one point i was almost emotional about someone losing their knife they had with them for years. You get attached and sentimental to things you use everyday, you know? Anyways, please give this show a watch. I need so many more seasons.
