Hollywood faces a significant imbalance when it comes to its stars. There are some actors like Adam Sandler who can’t separate the profession from real life and cast his friends and family as characters in movies. Then, there are others who vanish into a role for years, portraying their commitment to the art.
Actors like Dwayne Johnson and Adam Sandler often portray characters close to their real-life persona
While bringing their real-life persona into a character is not necessarily a bad thing, there are actors whom the audiences love for it and some whom they hate for the same. Here’s a look at actors who often portray characters close to their public image.

Chicago – The names “Tj & Dave” are legion in the Chicago entertainment scene. The improvisation duo – T.J. Jagodowski and David Pasquesi – are improv performers who heighten the status of the city as a comedic destination. Now they’re featured in a indie TV pilot that will premiere at SXSW 2024 entitled “Bettendorf Talks.”
The show – produced by Shane Simmons and directed by Jack C. Newell – is a sharp and smart “show within a show” and a workplace comedy regarding the newest (and most unlikely) local talk show to come out of the titular Midwestern Quad City. Hosted by the “has been” comedy duo T.J. Jagodowski and David Pasquesi (who star as caricatures of themselves), the two attempt to mount a hit show in search of a sliver in their former glory. Other featured performers include Tim Kazurinsky, Sadieh Rifal, Brian King. Cassie Kramer, Nnamdi Ngwe, Emma Pope and Ike Reilly.

Max, formerly known as HBO Max, has rolled out its first Top 10 lists in an effort to increase engagement with its best films and series.
Atop the inaugural podium for series are “Hard Knocks” (NFL training camp with the New York Jets), “And Just Like That…,” and “Winning Time,” a series about the Los Angeles Lakers of the ’80s.
Leading movies are DC disappointment “The Flash,” Bishop Sycamore high-school football documentary “Bs High,” and 2015 Will Ferrell/Kevin Hart prison comedy “Get Hard.”
It measures only those series that released a new episode on the platform within the last six weeks period and movies that debuted within the last eight weeks. Those are the windows when hits usually happen; you’ll see movies a heck of a lot older then “Get Hard” on Max’s top 10. Linear tune-in via HBO or the Discovery cable channels does not count toward Max’s Top 10.

Die Hart: The Movie is a comedy movie directed by Eric Appel
Kevin Hart pokes fun at his supporting role in action movies and signs up for an action actor’s school with John Travolta as his instructor.
Funny… but only just
And if we were worse people we’d say it’s almost close to a B-movie that doesn’t deserve its stars.
With John Travolta, Nathalie Emmanuel, Josh Hartnett and Jean Reno.
Movie Review
A film that looks promising but disappoints you very quickly.
It barely holds up for the first ten or fifteen minutes, when Hart is interviewed. Then, it becomes not much or even just nothing at all, an anecdotal film, video-club fodder in bygone times, one of those movies that no one had heard of and that were rented without thinking too much about it and from which little was expected anyway.
Other than someone learning what Chrome Keying is…...

Billy Eichner and Nicholas Stoller's "Bros" officially opens in cinemas today, and while it's far from the first gay romcom out there, it is the first R-rated gay romcom produced and theatrically distributed by a mainstream studio. The LGBTQ+ community have their own mixed feelings about how that factoid is being used in the marketing, but when one stops to think about how many unapologetically gay ads and posters of the film are everywhere, or just how many theaters the film will be screened across the U.S. this weekend (perhaps reaching out to audiences who wouldn't normally see queer media), the achievement is nothing to scoff at.
It does raise the question, though: what is "Bros" trying to achieve as part of popular culture? For co-writer and star Billy Eichner, one of his goals for the film was to position a new kind of queer narrative in the mainstream eye.

One of John Mayer's songs will serve as the basis for a "major" new movie.
During a concert last night, the seven-time Grammy Award winner announced that "Walt Grace's Submarine Test, January 1967," a song from his 2012 album "Born & Raised," is being adapted into a film. The concert was live-streamed online in an effort to raise money to support the Montana community where he's lived for more than a decade, which experienced devastating flooding earlier this summer.
"I want to say one thing that might get me in trouble, 'cause that's what I do," Mayer said after finishing a rendition of "Walt Grace" on stage. "That song is soon to be a major motion picture. It's true. It's true. It's going to be a movie."

With movie theaters fully back up and running, HBO Max no longer has any major film releases to point to with its list of new releases for May 2022. That’s alright though as the streamer is leaning into the HBO side of its branding to offer up some fun TV releases.
The biggest HBO Max original this month is undoubtedly the return of Hacks on May 12. The first season of this comedy starred Jean Smart as a venerated Vegas comedy and Hannah Einbinder as her new millennial assistant. The first batch of episodes was excellent and even won an Emmy or two for its troubles and now season 2 will look to keep up the good vibes.

Thanks to Kevin Hart, we have been laughing nonstop for 20 years. Hart made his big screen debut playing a fictionalized version of himself (Kevin "Heart") in TV movie North Hollywood back in 2001, and his career has only skyrocketed since with hit after hit. From Hart-felt performances like in The Upside to his scene-stealing comedic timing in The Wedding Ringer and Get Hard, it makes sense why so many of Hart's films have become franchises. The Jumanji reboot landed two installments, while Ride Along 3 opposite Ice Cube is already in the works. Even an animated Hart in The Secret Life of Pets warranted a sequel! But,...

We first told you about Netflix and Warner Bros. marketing executive Christian Davin’s arrival at Amazon Studios a little more than a year ago, and now he is leaving, Deadline has confirmed.

There’s been a lot of changes at Amazon lately, i.e. PR people have been promoted or reassigned to other posts in the company. All of this begs the question whether room is being made for team MGM/United Artists Releasing — even though that acquisition won’t get locked down reportedly until later this year or next.

But according to one actor and director, he believes he’s met the best actress of all time – his wife, the very talented Alison Brie.
Brie is best known for her work in the ensemble comedy show Community and Netflix’s female wrestling series Glow. In recent years, she’s also appeared in plenty of comedic films as well, such as The Little Hours, Get Hard and The Disaster Artist, among others. A little over a week after being moved from the hospital to an in-patient rehab facility, actor comedian Kevin Hart has finally returned home.
