Tyler James Williams has experienced several different kinds of fandom since childhood, starting with films like “Unaccompanied Minors,” and then his starring role in “Everybody Hates Chris,” and even a stint on “The Walking Dead.” But there’s nothing that compares to the passionate audience of teachers who have gravitated his latest series, ABC’s hit comedy “Abbott Elementary.”
On this episode, Williams talks about the show’s resonance, his experience as a child actor, where his character’s relationship with Quinta Brunson’s character might be heading and so much more. Listen below!

Sheryl Lee Ralph shared encouraging and powerful words while delivering the commencement speech for the class of 2023 at Rutgers University.
The Emmy-winning actress graduated from the college in 1975, becoming the youngest female graduate at the time. “In the fall of 1972, I became one of 400 teenage women chosen to form the first freshman class of women to break the gender barrier and usher co-education,” she said during the ceremony held on Mother’s Day.
“I could have just imagined what it was like when you all first came here to the campus as freshmen,” Ralph’s passionate message continued. “I mean, everything just looked so rosy and bright.”
“Then, our country and the world took a tragic and difficult turn,” the Abbott Elementary star explained. “Kobe died, George Floyd was killed, and then the world stopped and everything changed when Covid-19 … shut down the world. But you, you stayed the course,...

Sheryl Lee Ralph has been tirelessly working in television since the late ’70s, on shows like “Moesha,” “It’s a Living,” “Instant Mom” and “Ray Donovan.” The accomplished actress earned a Tony nomination for the original production of “Dreamgirls” and an Independent Spirit Award for the film “To Sleep with Anger” (1990), but she has egregiously never received an Emmy nomination in her career. That could very well change this year thanks to her hysterical yet nuanced work in the acclaimed ABC sitcom “Abbott Elementary.”
The comedy, created by “A Black Lady Sketch Show” alum Quinta Brunson, centers on a group of hardworking teachers working at an underfunded elementary school, with Ralph playing one of the school’s most respected teachers, Barbara Howard. Barbara’s wealth of experience, having worked in the Philadelphia school for 30 years, makes her an idol to series protagonist Janine (Brunson). Barbara’s no-nonsense approach to teaching extends...

Tyler James Williams (The United States vs. Billie Holiday), Janelle James (The Comedy Lineup), Chris Perfetti (The Night Of), Lisa Ann Walter (The Parent Trap) and Sheryl Lee Ralph (Instant Mom) round out the series regular cast, joining creator, star and exec producer Brunson in the pilot from Justin Halpern, Patrick Schumacker, Warner Bros. ABC recently announced that the 27th season of the competitive-dancing reality show “Dancing with the Stars” is set to premiere on September 24. But which celebs will enter the ballroom? Below is a list of female candidates I think “DWTS” should consider inviting to compete for the next Mirror Ball Trophy. Vote in our poll at the bottom of this post to let us know who you’d like to see on the show.
Ciara
Grammy-winning singer Ciara is best known for her infectious hits like “1,2 Step,” “Promise” and “Goodies,” but she has yet to grace the ballroom. Her sensual and hard-hitting moves would make her an instant front-runner along the lines of past musician contestants like Mya (season 9 runner-up), Nicole Scherzinger (season 10 Champion), Brandy (season 11) and Normani Kordei (season 24 finalist). Note to the casting directors: watch her “In My Feelings” dance challenge video and go ahead and give her a call.

Deadline reported on Wednesday that Nickelodeon will not renew the series, which will actually air its series finale on TV Land in December. The series will wrap with a total of 65 episodes.
In addition to the cancellation news for the series, Nick at Nite has also put their original programming on hold. Instant Mom was the only original program from the network currently on air.
This series aired season one on Nick at Nite. Season two also aired on Nick at Nite, but the third season was moved to TV Land. However, the comedy series does not fit the programming currently airing on TV Land. That likely contributed to the decision to cancel the series.

If so, there's a good chance you have Nick at Nite to thank. Classic television reruns were plentiful in the '80s and '90s, but Nick at Nite – which launched on July 1, 1985 – consolidated decades of American TV into one place.
Thirty years later, it's still going strong.
In honor of the programming block's anniversary this week, we're looking back at how the network came to be and how it's changed over the past three decades.
