- Without a doubt, Ricardo Ray and Bobby Cruz Ware the most representative musicians of the Salsa sound next to Celia Cruz, Tito Puente, Johnny Pacheco and Hector Lavoe, among others. In the Sixties Richie and Bobby established a before and after in Latin music: Richie, a pianist born in Brooklyn and Bobby, a singer born in Puerto Rico. Together they began one of the most fruitful collaborations in the music history of the Caribbean.—Sandro Romero Rey
- "SONIDO BESTIAL" is a fresco of these two figures: they ignited a fundamental engine of what we now call Salsa with a sound that was completely different. A sound made of unique arrangements, a fusion between popular music and classical repertoire, amazing percussive improvisations, unmistakable trumpets, a singer with a distinctive high vocal range and a pianist with superb flavor capable of master solos.
"SONIDO BESTIAL " also offers a view of the evolution of Latin music from the early Sixties until the new millennium. This documentary captures intimate testimonials of the main figures and life with their families. It shows the marvelous work that these personalities can create being so different and yet so complementary to each other. In this path we are accompanied by key people that have gravitated around the artists. We see different footage from archives, rehearsals in recording studios as well as important concerts and moments of relaxation. It's a passport to different cities: New York, Elizabeth, N.J., Cali, Medellin, Barranquilla, Cartagena de Indias, Miami, San Juan, Hormigueros, PR., Paris, Barcelona and with the excuse of following the steps of Ricardo Ray and Bobby Cruz we become witnesses of their striking sound.
