Jerrod Carmichael has a problem. “I didn’t know it was a problem,” he says during his new HBO series, “Jerrod Carmichael Reality Show.” But recent events have made it clear that it is, in fact, a problem. A big one. What is it? “I only like to do exactly what I want to do.”
You may be thinking, “Wait, what’s wrong with that? Don’t we all only like doing what we want?” Sure we do. Except, not really, and not in the way Carmichael means here. He’s saying he doesn’t like doing things for other people. Like, at all. He doesn’t want to drive you to the airport. He doesn’t want to let you crash at his place for a few weeks. He doesn’t want to do the things friends are expected to do simply because it helps someone they care about.

Ladies and Gentlemen, we have a precedent! Barbet Schroeder’s documentary gets up close and personal with a narcissistic dictator consumed by his own ego. Idi Amin rants and raves incoherently and demands to be the center of all attention while taking his country down a road to ruin. This is Africa in 1973, where Uganda has been converted into ‘The Idi Amin Reality Show’ — and where a minion in disfavor might be fed to the crocodiles.

I actually had to look on the link to see what “Floribama” is all about and to be honest it seems destined to take a long walk off a very short pier. The so-called ‘coming of age’ stories that are touted as reality TV have run their course for anyone and everyone that was still growing up with the initial Real World on MTV. I’ll be fair enough to say that it might resonate with those who are at the same crossroads in their lives and might find some solidarity from the show, but the dangerous part is thinking that

It is centered around the older children of the Duggar family, thus making it a spin-off of 19 Kids and Counting. "It's a fake I launched for my market research," he said without explaining the nature of the research. He added that the project, in which he "didn't invest a single kopek," worked as a free ad for himself and his future projects. A kopek is a Russian monetary unit equal to one hundredth of a ruble.

The Emmy-winning reality competition series “RuPaul’s Drag Race” has been a staple of gay culture since its premiere in 2009, but it’s now a part of established pop culture as well. Going mainstream, however, doesn’t mean the show has lost its voice.
Instead, it’s shouting louder than ever, and hitting new ratings highs in Season 9. And that’s ultimately due to Viacom’s decision to shift this battle royale of drag queens between networks, moving “Drag Race” from its original home on Logo to the much larger VH1.

The move comes as Viacom makes several dramatic shifts in its cable portfolio (including transitioning Spike TV into the Paramount Network), and strategically moves shows around is properties. But the “Drag Race” move was also inspired by host RuPaul Charles’ Emmy win last year for Best Host.
