Ram Gopal Varma is back. Well, as a matter of fact, he was never gone, courtesy three releases in nine months between 2012-2013 (The Attacks Of 26/11, Department, Bhoot Returns). However given his prolific presence in the B-Town, it has been a relatively long break, that of seven months, as he returns with Satya 2. Forewarning that the film is anything but a sequel but just similar to his cult Satya in its spirit, Ramu gets talking. One of the key drivers for audience to st...

Movie Review: "Boochi 3D"; Star cast: J.D. Chakravarthy, Manisha Koirala, Madhu Shalini and Alayana Sharma; Director: Ram Gopal Varma; Rating: ** - is three times boring.
Having watched "Boochi 3D", the Telugu version of Ram Gopal Varma's horror-thriller "Bhoot Returns", I told myself there's absolutely no way I'm going to put myself through the torture of watching the third part in the franchise. But what keeps this sequel truly an edge-of-the-seat affair, is its earth-shattering background score and Varma's signature camera shots.

Directed by Ram Gopal Verma and written by Ravi Shankar, Bhoot Returns is sequel to the 2003 thriller Bhoot. Bhoot had also been an Rgv directorial and starred Urmila Matondkar in an outstanding performance. Bhoot Returns, however does not live up to the original and is unfortunately and evidently, a failed attempt. Horror films are meant to be spooky and not whatever Bhoot Returns transpired into being.

On The Road (15)
(Walter Salles, 2012, Fra/UK/Us/Bra) Sam Riley, Garrett Hedlund, Kristen Stewart, Kirsten Dunst, Tom Sturridge. 124 mins
It was the book that defined a generation, but On The Road has taken several more generations to get to the screen, which dissipates the energy somewhat. Added to which, Jack Kerouac's hip prose was never exactly movie-friendly. This is appropriately scenic, sweaty, druggy and ambisexual, but for all the forced bohemian zeal, the road feels rather long and flat. And what once passed for creative hedonism now looks more like male self-indulgence, which is never much fun to watch.

Movie Review: Bhoot Returns (3D); Star Cast: Manisha Koirala, J.D. Chakravarty, Madhu Shalini, Alayana Sharma; Director: Ram Gopal Varma; Rating: * - Stay away from it.
Ram Gopal Varma's repertoire of films can be classified in basic two categories, good and bad. And "Bhoot Returns" made in the 3D format can be listed as the worst of the lot.
The film plunges directly into the genre with a voice over telling the audience that there are some houses that are haunted.

Ram Gopal Varma has given the Bollywood industry some big films over the years. He has directed, written and produced films across multiple genres – psychological thrillers, underworld warfare, fiction, politics-nexus and experimental films in various languages. His horror films have also been quite a revelation as he has introduced some path-breaking horror films in Indian Cinema.
Right from the year 1992, when Raat was released, which is still considered one of the best horror films made in Bollywood; Rgv has never let his audiences down with this genre.
In 2003 again, Ajay Devgn and Urmila Matondkar’s Bhoot was a hit. Both of them won awards for their outstanding performances. There is no denial in the fact that Ram Gopal Varma has given a list of horror films and recreated the genre with his creativity and visualization.
His other note worthy films in this genre includes Vaastu Shastra (2004), Phoonk (2008) and Darna Mana Hai (2003) among many more.
