Sex & Nudity

  • A character named Ellie has comically large breasts with little cleavage shown. In the DLC "Tiny Tina's Assault On Dragon Keep" however, the player has the option to give her a small metal bikini. If done so, Ellie will put it on and will show off a LOT of her breasts (this's only if you give her the armor.)
  • A character name Moxxi is known in the community as an attractive character with large breasts and a lot of cleavage.
  • Enemies occasionally use suggestive language.

Violence & Gore

  • There's a mission somewhere in the middle of the game that has a character (a psycho) repeatedly insist that the player shoots him in the face and nowhere else, which can be a little disturbing, but however, the game gives the player an achievement afterwards
  • There's some blood. (which can be turned off)
  • Borderlands 2 features violence in which the player kills thousands of enemies over the course of the game with weapons ranging from assault rifles to grenades and rocket launchers. Combat is frenetic, and players are assaulted large waves of alien beasts, insane bandits, robots and soldiers.
  • Some enemies cry in pain when shot, and living creatures emit a gush of cartoonish blood. It is possible to incinerate and liquefy enemies.
  • Combat is generally not as realistic or impactful as it is in other Mature-rated games, thanks to the game's cel-shaded graphics and generally comedic nature.

Profanity

  • The game contains some strong and moderate language that is subtitles, but censored, including the words "s--t," and "a--hole." Fictional coarse language is occasionally used, such as "skaglicker" or "slaggund".
  • One character uses profanity quite often as part of DLC (not the campaign)

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • In one mission, players consume alcohol in a bar, but it's not excessive.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • A lot more lighthearted than the first game.
  • The game is all about action packed moments and looting.
  • The deaths of some characters may be emotional and/or disturbing.
  • Some enemies, like the axe-wielding, psychos may be threatening.
  • Players may find the villain menacing.
  • While there is a lot of violence, the game has A LOT of light and darker humor and never takes itself seriously. The mood becomes darker in the late second and third acts, with the deaths several important characters and the threat of annihilation.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Violence & Gore

  • A bird's head is blown up. Although the only thing seen is a big splash of blood, then a bloody nub on the neck, the scene is still pretty graphic

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The scene where you kill Angel is emotionally intense as she is Handsome Jack's daughter. He kills Roland (Lilith's boyfriend) as a result of killing her.
