- The bakers face three challenges, all designed for a sweet tooth. Starting off with a tempting array of decadently rich tortes, the bakers then face the technical challenge. This time it is a mainstay of French baking, the crème caramel, and for some there is more wobble than expected. Proceedings are rounded off with a mammoth six-hour challenge to produce a mighty showstopping layered meringue. But who will claim the accolade of Star Baker and who will hang up their apron for the last time?—Anonymous
- It's dessert week, meaning that the remaining nine contestants will be making decadent bakes also lusciously appealing to the eye. For the signature, they will each make a torte, a multi-layered dessert with a sponge made with something other than wheat flour and other items comprising those layers. The only stipulation the bakers have is that it has to measure at least 20cm in diameter. For the technical, they each have to make the deceptively difficult French classic, six individual crème caramel, the four ingredient dessert which can go wrong in over or undercooking the caramel, over or undercooking the custard, the latter which will lead to being unable to unmold the custards, and using techniques for crème brûlée which are totally different than what is required here. And for the showstopper, they will each be making a meringue dessert which necessarily will have at least four layers.—Huggo
