Okay, the first two episodes were maybe a little fast paced. I fully understand that, and this adaptation concept is a lot to work with. This, on the other hand, is perfection. It not only keeps some of the funniest jokes from the original book, but adds totally new in-character gags that make the show twice as funny, and provides it with its own identity. This episode in particular sets the tone for what the show is aiming to be: a slightly updated retelling of a generation-defining story, changing only to improve the finer details, not to distinguish itself for the sake of edginess or regret from the perspective of the author. This episode captures the tone the show has clearly been striving for perfectly, and makes Medusa a far more interesting villain. All of the pieces came into play for this episode, and if the rest of the season can match it, this show may against all odds be on the same level of quality as the books.
Tl;dr banger.
