At the 2005 Oscars, Chris Rock ribbed Jude Law about his roles "in every movie I have seen in the last four years". Last year, Jessica Chastain pre-empted the backlash, calling herself "the unknown everyone's already sick of". George MacKay is not yet in danger of wearing out his welcome. But it would take a dedicated enthusiast indeed to catch all of his movies that open in the UK today.
In two of them, the soft-spoken Londoner offers two distinct Scottish accents: as a former squaddie in the Proclaimers musical Sunshine on Leith, and as the tortured survivor of a fishing accident in low-budget drama For Those in Peril.
