The best episode of Television in a long, long time
shayenu24 May 2023
This episode was everything. Emotional, comedic, a ton of football and just consisted of all the elements that make the show good in the first place. Character development is at its peak in this episode just like the last - yet this episode pushes the story forward just a bit more, and sets up the best possible finale.

The choice to explore Jamie Tart was a brilliant one, and his arc was again assisted by Ted, who really was the gem of this episode alongside Jamie. We really got to understand that mentality is what wins you anything in life, its not about knowledge. Everyone had some form of development in this episode, and you could really resonate to this episode in particular, connect with it, and take something good for it that will impact you throughout your day positively- and thats why this show is such a blessing. This next episode is going to be immense. I just don't want this to end! Thank you, Apple TV/ Warner Brothers for this emotional ride.

Best of the series, and that's saying a lot

Warning: Spoilers
This episode was the best of the series for me. It hit home in so many ways, and the timing was everything. Just told my Dad that i forgive him this week. Cried my eyes out through the whole episode. Very close with my mom so I related big time. Beard's story about Ted and what he did for him. Everything everything everything. Very emotional about this one. This show has kicked it up a notch each episode. This may be my favorite show of all time. Gonna miss it. It's been in my top 5 since the beginning, but this season has so elevated it. More depth this season, especially with the characters.

Tissue time for me
xhtqfgd24 May 2023
Every episode of Ted Lasso keeps getting better (?!) and I just LOVE how each and every character gets closure somehow. It brought tears to my eyes and at the same time made me feel sad that we have only the final Ted to come. As a fan from the start I love to advocate to all my friends how Ted is so lively, inspiring, witty and warm. A pop-cultural phenomona, a show with the perfect round ending.

This show has continued to put light and love in my heart, so a heartfelt thank you to everyone on the cast and crew. It never stops to amaze me how 'round' this brilliantly written show is. Richmond for life.

Incredible
scottoshea-2504724 May 2023
I, like many others have had issues with the third season of Ted Lasso. The decision to split up some of the main characters and nearly double the runtime so they could add new side stories was a little baffling at times. BUT, this episode is a masterpiece that can almost make me forgive some of grievances with this season due to how well some things pay off in this episode. Without a doubt the best of the season, and probably the best of the entire series.

Hats off to Phil Dunster for giving his career best performance here. The character development for Jamie throughout these last three seasons has been truly amazing to watch and this episode may have cemented him as my favorite character on the show. I think this episode may have secured Dunster an Emmy nomination. I would also like to point out that Jason Sudeikis, Brendan Hunt and Nick Mohammad do some great work in this episode as well.

After losing a small bit of faith in this show, this episode has put me back on track and has me beyond excited for the finale and all of the emotions that it is going to bring me.

Season 1 & 2 magic is back
borisbananas24 May 2023
Wow, while reading another review which rated this episode a 1 just made me want to write this because for me this was one of the best episodes in the entire season, on par with some of the best from the previous seasons.

Whilst I agree that season 3 has been a mixed bag with some different styles of content, it has by no means been boring. Yes - there is a different approach & longer episodes which means a few filler storylines are thrown together which don't have a lot of meaning by itself - yet it stays entertaining & engaging as a whole. We can all see & assume what season 3 is leading us towards in terms of Ted's decision - yet that's not the point. What differentiates Ted Lasso from your average show is the ability to create powerful emotional moment which make you smile & cry at the same time. Because it stands for loyalty, achievement, breakthroughs,... Yes, the shows lets you feel these moment and that's a huge achievement.

There have been a few magical moments in this season already, admittedly not as much or as strong compared to the previous seasons, as the show focused on other things in terms of entertainment. But episode 11 has hit a bulls eye for me. I was completely wowed by the emotion delivered by the show & how it all comes together. Predictable: yes - but who really cares when you deliver the moments like this.

The mom-storyline is unexpected, however it adds to some previous anchors dropped in the season regarding Ted's family, as well as giving some insight in Ted's background & how he got to be the way he is.

Likewise for the Nathan side story & how Beard deals with him. But all of this is more context building for what's happening next so yes, of course it's acted & of course it's cheesy. But it does so with the right amount to charm the viewer with it. No one expects this to be a reality thriller, at least that's not why I'm watching.

But let's be honest - the unexpected star of season 3 is Jamie. He created one of the strongest moments in earlier seasons with the confrontation with his dad, but the way the show let's us feel what he would be going through, going back to his old club, old town, in a true 'Jamie' way is awesome. The season has build him up as a hero, and boy does he deliver.

I wasn't ready!
kylesgray-9969424 May 2023
After the slight disappointment of the second season I found myself fighting tears, and it was a losing fight. I don't drink on week days but I needed a beer. I was at a point where even though this season was remarkable improvement from season 2 wouldn't come close to season one and boy am I eating my inner thoughts and washing them down with a beer to cope. The build up and development in my humble opinion surpasses both season one and 2. I've laughed and cried more then I care to admit. I've come to see this as a perfect guide for the direction of "masculinity" to lead young and "old" men into this modern day.

Deeply satisfying
lucasch-3248624 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was so good - so satisfying. The resolution of internal strife for Ted, and Nate, and Jamie... and it was all growth. There was a lot of truth telling - some of it painful, but liberating.

I still really want to know where Rebecca ends up, but I love that the other Becs and Rupert's latest victim came to her for help. And I also loved the back story for Coach Beard - it made his whole character gel.

I liked that there wasn't too much filler this time, that there was resolution on many series-long threads involving the main characters instead of creating new story lines/characters that were hard to get invested in.

All in all a wonderful episode!

This show is truly beautiful.
direnick24 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This episode dives deeper into the backstories of Coach Beard, Ted, and Jamie. I have watched this show since the beginning, and at the start, it was truly a beam of light. Life and media has seemed incredibly hectic and depressing as of late with all that has been going on in the world, but Lasso was always pure, heartfelt, and uplifting. As the show progressed, it started to transform into something so much more. Anyone that hasn't seen this show is missing out, and this episode sets up a beautiful ending.

In this episode, we learned more about Ted and Jamie's relationships with their mothers, Coach Beard's mysterious past, Keeley/ Roy, and Nate.

Also in this episode- AFC Richmond gets a huge win against Manchester City, thanks to a masterful performance by former city player, Jamie Tartt.

Roy wants to be more than "just friends" with Keeley.

Ted convinces Beard to give Nate a second chance. Beard tells Nate that he went to prison before meeting Ted, and even though he gave him a second chance at life when no one else did, he stole his car. Ted still gave Beard another chance by convincing the cops he gave him the car. Beard/ Nate hug and Beard tells him to come back to Richmond.

The episode ends with Ted about to reveal something important to Rebecca (possibly that he will leave Richmond to go back to his kid).

Ik y'all know all of this, but I was under the word count so I just kept writing. Can't wait for episode 12.

Best episode of the series so far?
ashwinshriyan-0078226 May 2023
Probably one the best episodes of the series, so far. Not gonna lie but, the very slow start to the season and the rubbish Paris episode made me feel like it's gonna go downhill towards the end. But I'm glad that I kept watching and didn't give up on the series. This and the last episode had everything that made me fall in love with the show.

It's a bittersweet feeling knowing that the next episode will be the last of the series. Nevertheless, looking forward to the finale. A huge round of applause to everyone involved in creating this heartfelt show! One of the finest shows produced by AppleTV.

Greatest episode of all seasons of Ted Lasso
chiefspartanfan99724 May 2023
It was brilliant. I have cried 3 times in a row. Jaime Tart's storyline really brought me to tears. He has always been the main gold of this series. So does Roy Kent. It's good that Roy loves Killy again. You can forget about her storyline in previous episodes.

But this show has always been about Ted Lasso. About his character. About his willpower and the power of positive thinking. And show comes to an end. Show deconstructs his main character. But Ted Lasso keeps smiling. And we have to. Even in the darkest times.

Even when this wonderful series comes to an end. But we have one more week together. And I hope that the final will be unforgettable.

By far, the best of Ted Lasso
beachlifelinda27 May 2023
It's really hard to express the emotions and depth of this episode unless you have watched all of the previous Ted Lasso episodes. Collectively, we've struggled through season three and hoping for a moment of redemption. And wow.... just wow. We went through Jamie's, Ted's and the team's experience in a way that we haven't seen before. One of the things that viewers want to see is the actual games and skills of Dani Rojas, but the bulk of season three has deprived us of that. FINALLY, an episode with sports and an over the top display of heart, pain, and raw emotion. While I am disappointed in this season overall, this episode took my breath away.

I'm upset
jareddhawk25 May 2023
I'm very very very very upset. This episode and last episode were really good. But, this whole season has felt magicless and nothing like the lasso I came to love in seasons 1 and 2. Other than last week and this week, every episode has felt forced and bland and didn't feel like Ted. And now, with the series coming to an end, they're wrapping things up too quickly in my mind. Nate being welcomed back without even a second thought?? I'm upset because the first 9 episodes, I hated this season and now, last week, this week and probably next week will be really good episodes, redeeming episodes, but it'll also be the end. It feels like they wasted the first 3/4s of the season on filler episodes that meant nothing. And the Zava storyline?? What was the point of that? This is the last season, they should've landed the plane better and they fumbled it. Only 2 episodes this season were good, last weeks and this weeks.

There was a good episode in this episode ...
AmbroseHoneysuckle29 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
... but it wasn't this episode.

Season 3 has been a mess. The first few episodes were decent, "Sunflowers" was good, but most of the season since "Signs" has been bloated, tedious and, worst of all, inconsistent with what we know of the characters from seasons 1 and 2. I have to think that a lot of the show's problems this season come from the departure of showrunner Bill Lawrence and the lack of an executive story editor, because the season shows exactly the symptoms you'd expect from a show that's lost its guiding hand, especially with respect to the unearned redemption of Nate's storyline and the messy soap opera that was Keeley's.

This episode gets off to a stunningly bad start. The first 10 minutes were so painful to watch, I almost shut the TV off, but ultimately I wasn't ready to give up on a show I've invested so much time into. Fortunately, the episode makes a comeback of sorts: The drama around the Manchester City game and Jamie Tartt's return to his hometown, along with the game itself, were some great TV that reminded me of what Ted Lasso used to be. Unfortunately, that glimpse was followed by a couple of unnecessary false endings that did nothing but stretch out the runtime, followed by a solid real ending to set up the finale.

I think the thing that makes me angriest about this episode, though, is that it did Beard dirty. There is nothing, NOTHING, that occurred in this show before that's consistent with this newly concocted past involving car theft and meth addiction. Beard is a quirky, intellectual guy who also loves sports and has a deep emotional side that he only lets people see once in a while. That's all he needs to be. He doesn't need a heart-tugging backstory. Honestly, his appearance in Nate's doorway was one of the funniest moments of the season. All he really needed to do was tell Nate he was rehired, give him a dirty look and leave. That also would have been funny.

Less is more!

Season 1 of Ted Lasso knew that and proved it. Season 3 has too little to say and too little of that worth saying, but can't shut up about it. Sigh.

Also, we don't need 17 music cues per episode.

I'm flabbergasted by all the 10/10 ratings on this episode. Go back and watch season 1 in its entirety, then watch this episode again. It just isn't in the same league. Parts of it are, but the whole thing? Nah.

Probably the most well rounded episode so far...
itsallgonebeerpong25 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This episode had pretty much everything for me, i just signed up to to make my first review on imdb and im on this site for more than 15 years. It had everything. The right amount of drama, proper football action and astounding performances with the exception of Jamie's cry on Roy's shoulder.. That was a bit cringy but for me it didnt ruin anything. This show tends to be occasionally goofy from time to time but, it suits it! Loved the build up story with Ted's mom till the finale to reach that final touching moment where you are reminded that John Sudeikis is such a talented actor.. A great emotional rollercoaster, i hope the last episode can keep up with this..'

Warning: Spoilers
One of the best episodes of the entire series, pure perfection. Don't want to spoil anything so all I'll say is give Brendan Hunt his Emmy! This is one of the longest episodes if not the longest in the series but it is worth every spell binding minute. The acting from everyone is pure perfection and some of the redemption arcs are as astounding as unexpected. This show deserves every award and has absolutely zero right to be as good as it is. We may be saying bye to Ted in the last episode but I don't think this will be the end of the Ted Lasso universe as there are plenty of stories still to tell in this heartwarming feel good masterpiece.

This season is a roller coaster
askeland8926 May 2023
Not gonna lie, after watching episode 8 I was about to give up on this show. It redeemed itself with the last three episodes, especially this one. It had all the stuff that made me fall in love with this show in the first place. Laugther, tears and feelgood moments. And unlike some of the previous episodes, the drama scenes didn't feel forced. It actually belonged in the episode and it felt more natural. Guardiola making a guest apparence was probably my favorite part of the episode. Not a big fan of the team he's representing but that's a different story. I'm also impressed by how Jamie has developed since the beginning, same old Jamie but still different. And the conversation between Nathan and Beard caught me completely off guard.

It saddens me that this is the last season.

I feel like this show have so much more to give, more stories to tell etc.. There will never be another show like Ted Lasso. One of a kind, truly!

Best Episode of the Series
fearthe24 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This episode brought tears to my eyes both of sadness and elation. There was not a missing beat this whole episode. Jamie realizing he has to forgive his father with wisdom from Ted, brought a tear to my eye. Even after, with the 5 second clip of Jamie's dad in rehab smiling for his son, made me have some empathy for the guy that I never thought would show up. Ted Lasso is a show about redemption and the power of forgiveness. Everything about "Mom City" encapsulates the best of Ted Lasso. No forced plot lines like earlier this season, more Ted, more 'Ted Talks', and more character development. Beard's backstory about life after prison with Ted in a conversation to Nate was incredible. Ted forgiving Beard for his wrongdoings was what Nate needed to hear to forgive himself for everything that happened at the end of season 2. Moreover, the conversation Ted had with his Mom at the end, showed that he finally could have a healthy emotional break without bottling things up. Something he showed a glimpse of earlier this season talking to his wife about Dr. Jacobs. The emotions were truly at an all time high, but the laughs were some of the best in the show. Roy and Keeley being in Jamie's childhood bedroom and the camera panning to show Roy on the wall was priceless. Humorous and beautiful at the same time.

Humorous because of the initial reaction of Roy and Keeley to see both of their posters on Jamies wall. Beautiful because Jamie idolized Roy, a man who he could do nothing but butt heads with the entire first season. God this episode was brilliant. I could keep reviewing this for hours. Can't wait to see what the finale holds...

Prediction for finale
KlinePSU25 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
While everyone in the world is predicting Ted is going to move home to be near his son and Nate takes over as manager (and I agree) I think there's a twist coming.

Richmond wins the league because of Nate's coaching and he finally gets the recognition from Ted he's wanted.

Beard will stay with Nate because he loves England and Jane and having been shunned by Keeley, Roy goes with Ted to coach American football... which he loves because of the hitting and violence.

Rebecca gets her "family" by either/and Bex and baby leaving Rupert and moving in or Ms. Kakes is pregnant and giving the baby to Rebecca.

Who knows if they'll wrap up the players story lines. Maybe a final meet up of Jamie and his dad but the rest of the team probably gets little resolution.

We'll see but for all those who have been bashing season 3... settle down! It's still cute, it still has laugh out loud moments and it's just a show! Turn off your critical brains for just 60 minutes in this cynical, messed up world and enjoy yourself without needing it all to be so perfect all the time!

brilliance of Ted Lasso summed up in one episode
RashBeanz24 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Im not the one to write reviews, but this episode warranted one. We've had a few troughs so far this season but the finale is building up to be something quite special.

This episode had everything Ted Lasso is celebrated for. From the witty jokes to fixing strained familial ties to suspenseful football and cliffhangers (Pep's cameo was just the icing on the cake), this episode strings all of them incredibly. And not to mention the brilliant emotional dialogues from people like beard and ted.

Nothing felt too forced (like other episodes), and it was so refreshing to see yet another facet of Jamie's and Nate's character arcs. It was truly a rollercoaster of emotions throughout the episode, from starting off with humour, boiling up with uneasiness and suspense, and then letting all the emotions pour out toward the end before ultimately ceasing with a cliffhanger.

Never once teared up watching a tv show but damn I was grabbing for the tissues at the end...

The Best in Quite a While.
rookescanor26 May 2023
A so-far good Season brings in the penultimate episode with lot of emotions, proper significant stories, and with a bang. It is hope restored for the show, considering some of the few not-so-good episodes that popped up in between the Season.

Great character arcs of Jamie Tartt and Ted Lasso, played in a great way by Phil Dunster and showrunner Jason Sudeikis, respectively.

Nothing much to say except for being an outstanding penultimate episode, which prepares for the finale next week.

A good episode entertains the audience, but a great episode makes the audience feel the emotion of the characters and the story. And this is what this episode has achieved.

All the Feelings
emilyclymer-7729125 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The person who left the 1 star review is clearly not watching the same show as me. There is something pretty wonderful about a show that can make you feel all the feelings in a single episode, and this episode definitely did that for me. I laughed, I cried...

The character development going on this season continued to be displayed in this episode, with particularly powerful scenes between Roy and Jamie and Beard and Nate. Getting Beard's backstory was very insightful.

I definitely think Ted earlier this season saying that "Mary Poppins" is his favorite Julie Andrews movie is foreshadowing...

Episode 311
bobcobb3014 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
"Mom City" was definitely an improvement over last week, but the show is still just not what it could be, should be or what the internet thinks it is.

I am glad we had some lengthy soccer scenes and we had a big moment for Jamie Tartt and seeing him get a goal and an emotional win. But we didn't even get a moment with his father. That probably happens next week, but it should have happened today.

Ted cursing at his mom is not funny, not empowering, that was just a bad attempt at creating a big and powerful TV moment. Yet, the Emmys seem to love bad acting these days so who knows, maybe that will get rewarded.

Backstory data dump
Rob-O-Cop31 May 2023
Yikes, we've come to expect shoddy writing and retro fitted elements to this show but I wasn't prepared for the penultimate episode to go all out like this.

Coach Beard's hilarious over justification for a second chance for the unpleasant Nate Shelley was so unnecessarily. Apparently he was a criminal and drug mastermind, and probably shot Kennedy, faked the moon landing and took naked pictures of your mum and shared them on the internet. All within the second to last episode of the series and hopefully the show. Out of nowhere he goes from being a simple but slightly weird support guy for Ted to something NOTHING in the 3 series had even hinted at.

Ted Lasso finally got some screen time with his 'out-of-nowhere' mum who hadn't really been mentioned or thought about for the entire series either. At least we got some insight into his mannerisms but the series has chickened out of giving us a look at hopelessly optimistic fish out of water character and instead decided to make him like every other character in tv and film with a good dose of dark side to him. It's too bad cos series 1 and part of series 2 had a really interesting core theme to it that stood out amongst the relentlessly dark rest of the tv universe we ingest every day.

So Ted swears at his mum but it never really manages to reach the honesty level that we got 2 episodes ago with Colin and Issac and with the arc that Jamie is delivering and even Roy. I guess they can't all be winners but Ted's the name of the show.

So Jamie got another great dose of character development and actor Phil Dunster really delivered on his character arc. I guess in a way his stuff this episode was part of the back story dump but this stuff felt natural, perfect pace and delivery.

One more episode to go and we can have a rest or move on to something else more likely.

Almost Gave Up On This But Glad I Didn't.
blackstars-7318225 May 2023
Season 1 and 2 of this show were amazing to say the least.

However, season 3 has been rough. After what were originally 30-40 minute long episodes became an hour + long that seemed to suck the fun and heart right out of this show, it has gotten back on track.

I do find it to be a bit preachy at times, but overall I'm willing to overlook it. Characters are acting like themselves again and it's the heartwarming upbeat TV series it once was that I initially fell in love with. I once again find myself very engaged in it and am excited to see how it ends. I just wish season 3 had been a bit better and wasn't full of all the ridiculous nonsense drama they filled it with.

But I'm glad to see it restored to its former glory and am very much looking forward to the finale.

Finest episode of the season
kiwimilan1524 May 2023
The redemption arc for this season hit a point we had been waiting for with the revelation of Beard's backstory which explained so much of his protective nature of Ted with Nate. It was just one of many memorable scenes in an episode that delivered moments on and off the pitch that left us on an emotional edge ahead of next week's series finale.

This season seemed at times to be checking boxes and following a stream of social consciousness that led some hardened fans to question if the show had moved from it's core entertainment purposes but everything changed these last few episodes. We saw action on and off the pitch that tugged at core emotions and made us all reflect on current and prior relationships with parents, friends and lovers that make us who we are today.

In a show with always well chosen music, the Sam Ryder song "Fought and Lost" made an incredibly well timed debut that only added to the emotions and tension we felt ahead of the ending of what will be an iconic show for decades ahead. The simple ending was the predictable but complex foreshadowing we knew was coming...
