End Times is Nigh

This A&E Reality TV show uses security cameras and cellphone footage to show the everyday confrontations in retail establishments. Personal cellphones are everywhere and everybody is recording everything. It's a couple of years after the pandemic. Retail is deteriorating. Tempers are frayed. Some of this footage are well-known and infamous. Nevertheless, it paints a picture of modern incivility and general stress. I am reminded of Cops where an one-sided view of the world is being presented. This is fun until I started wondering if this contributes to the disfunction or is simply a reflection of it.

Warning: Spoilers
The show could be really good except they do the same thing as a lot of shows of this kind. They take about sixty seconds of actual video and show it, rewind it many times, show it again, stretch it out, go to an ad, then go back to the beginning of the clip and explain what was going on and catch it all back up again to where the action was starting to happen, advance for about thirty seconds more to where something exciting is starting to happen again, rewind it and go to an ad again. Then finish the first fifteen minute segment. Rinse and repeat for the second half of the show.

This way they only have to find about two minutes actual action on video to do an entire half hour, with two or three fifteen second segments squeezed in.

The first few seasons were not that bad, but have since gone downhill. It seems the production staff has become too lazy to do the very easy job of surfing the internet and then either getting permission or determining public domain. Then they throw in one "top ten" episode" after another to confirm that they're not interested in actually doing the work to earn their paychecks. Still, I guess if the idiots signing them want to pay them for just screwing around then it's their money?

Hire people who actually want a job.

Classic Dan Abrams but really worse. Really, really worse.

Annoying and aggravating over editing destroys the the cohesion of what the viewer is trying to watch.

Another reviewer summed it up nicely. They play a bit of the clip, stop, rewind it a few times, explain what you're going to see, then they cliffhang you on an ad, and when they come back, its a pure anticlimax.

JUST ROLL THE CLIP! We don't need to see the lead up several times!

99% of the clips can be found on youtube or even instagram without all of the BS the creators of this show put you through.

Sadly this show is a carbon copy of all of the other video clip shows. Same editing. Same over hype. Same teasing of the viewer.

It may be okay for low brow/low attention span viewers, but for anyone with an IQ greater than that of a cucumber, it's tedious and infantile.
