Normally I am impressed with the writers of this show and really appreciate the various story lines the intertwine with each of the family members, but something so simple as birthdate was screwed up??? Maybe it was done in the attempt to match Joe's birthdate with the release date (still missed it) of this episode, and/or maybe the family dinner discussion centered on his favorite birthday desert??? Either way the new headstone should have had only the one change (" and father") pertinent to this story line of younger Joe's recognition, and not have his father's birthdate changed. Season 1 ended with the family visiting Joe's gave site which had his headstone (DOB- June 6th 1977 - DOD May 15th 2009) and of course this season 13 episode ended with Frank & Joe Hill uncovering the new headstone with the addition ("and father") but also the change to his DOB (Jan 4th 1977). Maybe the writers thought viewers wouldn't remember back to season 1, but they really should recognize the fact that they have created a show that draws viewers with this kind of attention to detail.....

It's my recollection that Joe Reagan was alive when Joe Hill was born. Joe Reagan and Paula Hill met, and got involved, while at the Academy.
This was laid out in the last episode of Season 10; wherein, Paula advises the Commissioner of Joe Hill's existence; that Joe Reagan is Joe Hill's father; that she never advised Joe Reagan of Joe Hill's birth, nor the son of his father's identity and family connection: as she and Joe parted company when she left the Academy because of the pregnancy. (It had been a fling, and she didn't want Joe Regan to feel obligated).
That's how I remember it genie; I hope it helped.

How old is Joe Hill?

If Joe Reagan died in 2009 before Joe Hill was born, shouldn't Joe Hill be 12 or 13 years old?
Well they say that my review is too short so I will continue to ask: how old is Joe Hill? He appears to be in his mid 20's, but that is not possible considering the time line. Am I the only one who has noticed this discrepancy?
Other than this error, I enjoy the show and hope that it will continue to be on. All of the actors are excellent and the characters are well thought out. Is the Niki character coming back? As the children age their characters have moved on. This is good and is not often seen on shows.
I do miss Linda and.
