Theme: Songs from the 2000s
Performance: Robin Thicke and a blonde Kelly Clarkson and Jennifer Nettles and John Legend sing George Michael's "Freedom." It's pretty righteous and soulful complete with a choir and dancers.
Quddus announces that Jennifer is pregnant and reminds that the show is live and the audience will get to vote.
Contestant/Coach: John Glosson/Jennifer Nettles We hear John talk about hi's visit home to his event/wedding business with his wife. He got to see all the people supporting him. He and Jennifer work out the song. He's a little concerned because he's so used to singing it alone.
Song: "When You Say You Love Me," Josh Groban
Performance: It is a big ballad, of course. John starts out very light and solid, Jennifer comes in and they are in harmony lockstep. As always they sound lovely together.
Judging: Kelly loved it and thougth he was amazing. Robin jokes that it's not a duet anymore it's a trio since Jennifer is pregnant but says the song was great. John says his voice sounds magnificent but he thought the song was a little syrupy.
Contestant/Coach: Robin Thicke/Olivia Chisholm We see her family support her. In rehearsal Olivia talks about wanting to show off her confidence and power.
Song: "Need You Now," Lady Antebellum
Performance: She doesn't start off very confidently but a little shaky. Robin comes in with his feathery falsetto and they sound lovely. She sounds good in the chorus but she's hardly belting. The song feels a little limp, but that's partially inherent in the tune which is pretty placid.
Judging: John thought it was cool that they sang some country and that it was fun. Kelly thought she seemed nervous and pitchy but loved the song choice. Jennifer thinks she looks like a million bucks and also liked the song choice and agreed she was nervous and pitchy but still thought she did a wonderful job.
Contestant/Coach: Jason Farol/Kelly Clarkson Jason talks about being in the bottom and Kelly says that makes him a fighter. He says his parents are more behind him now. She tries to help him sing from his diaphragm instead of his nose. She's excited that America gets to vote now.
Song: "Mercy," Duffy
Performance: Jason tries to work his sex appeal with his strutting and thrusting. It's a little awkward but it's great that he's committing. He sounds okay but he looks great. Kelly come in and blows him away. They have a nice, playful energy together though.
Judging: Jennifer loved it and says if teenage girls are voting he is dangerous because he's so cute. Robin says Jason was good but was distracted by how great Kelly looks. John loved how much fun he was having but he feels like his dancing wasn't completely natural. Kelly protests he's getting better.
Contestant/Coach: Bridget Carrington/John Legend Bridget talks about going back to work at the tax department. She missed being on TV. John thinks Beyonce will be proud.
Song: "Halo," Beyonce
Performance: John starts it off and Bridget comes in. She looks lovely and is strong in her lower register but they both sound slightly flat together.
Judging: Robin thought it was very nice and liked the song choice and it got better as it went along. Jennifer thought it was good but there were a few pitch issues but loved that she did something brighter. Kelly loved it and thought it was a good song choice and loved the break in her voice.
Contestant/Coach: J. Rome/Jennifer Jennifer wants him to focus on being himself. He talks about how grateful he is to Jennifer.
Song: "Without You," David Guetta and Usher
Performance: He's actually a little shaky on the low notes at the beginning but as he takes it up and the song starts to thump and he locks in with Jennifer it gets very strong.
Judging: John thougth it was a professional performance but was one of his weaker vocal performances in the lower registers but when it got high it was great. Robin liked J.Rome but really liked Jennifer. Kelly throws her shoe at him she loves him so much and thought he was ridiclously good.
